There is also point of view, personally the most toxic person I know in sl I have met in forums only. I never read their posts anymore. They however regard themselves as one of the non toxic nice people. Ironically they have even posted in this thread about the toxicity of others

Anyone who considers sl to be toxic obviously never played eve online, there was a truism of eve that there are no friends merely people you have not as yet shot/doublecrossed/betrayed

I have nothing much to add on speculation on the number of bots and don't really care.

I find no difficulty finding real people in SL to converse with and interact with and some of them I even add to my friends list. All the people I chat to also seem capable of this as well

If the complaint is basically I can't find people to interact with and make friends with then perhaps the problem lies between the keyboard and chair for the OP

Good:  I don't want to see what a certain person posts. 

Bad: I want to decide for others what they can see/react to.

I didnt ask them to protect me from reaction or comment, just saying I dont wish to see it. This post of mine was actually provoked by someone I cant stand or want to interact with liking one of my posts on another thread. The fact they did means I am now questioning if the post they liked wasnt me thinking wrongly and wanting me to do a 180 because they are always in my mind on the wrong side.

Most can find some common ground, some however won't find any compromise and insist theirs is the only way. Thankfully they are few and far between

Precisely what I meant, now there are people on the forum I have certainly bumped heads with lots. Scylla Rhiadra for one....we still get on in our fashion and can have a civil conversation with and I view her as someone I could call friend. There are however people here I really don't want ever to interact with....well one at least in case it sound like lots

[An observation about interactions between men in Second Life]

As a man and not and incel I will add my two pennies worth...yes not american either. I rarely talk to guys I don't know either rl or sl unless they are friends or friends. Simple reason is most men either sl or rl have no conversation apart from sports. I don't watch sports....I don't care who beat who etc....what do I talk to them about then when mostly I find that to be the whole of their personality.

I do have male friends irl though only a few, only one of them likes sport and as soon as he starts talking about it (Formula 1 in his case) the rest of us go you know what we dont care talk about stuff we all like such as music, art, films. Both men rl and sl from my experience seem to think sport is the be all and end all of existence whereas a lot of us dont give a crap about it

You don't even need to be an owner or officer of a group to get charged.  The Forum Cartel inworld group has the 'Pay Liabilities' applied to the Everyone role, so the weekly 30L is randomly split amongst 30 members.  A few of my alts sometimes end up negative due to that.  We refund anyone in the group that requests it, but everybody is still part of the role to pay that fee.

ETA:  Check your L$ Transaction History to see which group you L$ have been going to.  Some groups leave the 'Pay Liabilities' set to everyone by mistake, so you can always ask the group owner about it.

There also many people like me that let friends and family live on their land rent free and I often pick up stray newbies and let them stay at the main house for a few months while they find their sl feet (totally selfish of me I will add as I believe it helps retention if they have somewhere to base themselves when starting out and more people in sl is a positive for me)

What annoys be about this thread is there is a lot here complaining about hosts and we do nothing, there are however a lot like me that do a lot of ***** to make your evening entertaining. I dont care if you dont tip it really wont bother me. But what does bother me is I suspect a lot of those complaining are also the sort to goto a club and and not even engage in local. You feel entitled to be entertained but wont even put being active in local back. Thats what most of us want....if I walk into the club and get 2000 in tips but all are silent I failed....walk into the club and get nothing in tips and people leave going wow that was fun I succeeded

Thursday I hosted....was a tough crowd and trying to get them to chat in local was hard. I managed it in the end and got them talking. I ended up about 2,5k down on the night but I entertained and people I think went away thinking they had had a good time

I host but only once a week. I see my job as two fold....1 is as an assistant to my dj and 2 is an enabler of entertainment. I really do it because I enjoy it so I don't care if anyone tips me or not and in any case I just throw whats in my tip jar at the end of the night to support the venue.

If truth be known I usually end up making a loss hosting because if chat is slow and everyone is buried deep in im's I will do stuff like throw out a quirky trivia question with a linden prize for the first correct answer in local to get people out of their shells.
