I tried to report just once , memory is vague but in order to do so it was necessary to unblock and returned to the sim i had by then completely banned myself from ? I'd deleted ever single contact , quit every single group . Wandered from sim to sim never staying any place long because if i did they would find me . Rebuilt my avatar , changed all my clothes ,convinced they had a tracker on me (former friends so maybe i was wearing a gift?) . They only got bored when i stopped moving and talking for over a year . I had no interest in conflict , those who do in a virtual word are either children or so insignificant in rl as to be 40+ year old virgins with absolutely no concept of real physical conflict and the spilt blood and broken bones that go along with it . For me it doesn't matter any more , its done , finished , over . SL is a game peopled only by uninteresting robots . The relevant sim used to keep traffic up by making almost everyone staff of some sort so maybe 80% of traffic was made up of regulars . I was asked to be official greeter , though i declined , in the days before it all went wrong . Many of these staff/regulars gave me the heads up and promised me their support when it became common knowledge that the individual was manipulating others and trying to have me banned . I wasn't the first you see , the DJ had been a regular for many years before i ever joined SL and still refuses to return on principal . I think i may have spoken to the owner about the matter a month prior to my leaving for good . I certainly spoke to the mysterious lady who found me as a newbie and introduced me to the club .From the day i met her and forever more i will wonder whose alt she is/was lol . Regardless it was common knowledge what was going on and also common knowledge to all that to copy alter paste others chat was one of their favourite tools . Perhaps that's why the expected ban from the club when it came cited something like 5 perma ban reasons and yet i was only banned for a week ? I never went back . To me now how blocking people works really doesn't matter because i have been so disillusioned that my imagination fails to believe meaning no nightmares or dreams , I cannot embrace the fiction to realize fantasy .Hence I am very unlikely to ever block anyone again . To me this will be Second Life's enduring legacy . With the benefit of hindsight i should have quit , should have let the scum run me out of sl . But i'm a fighter and thats what they wanted , so . End result = I lost and they failed .

For 2 years i wandered all the worst possible places and never felt the need to block anybody . When i finally did block somebody it was because they were ruining my SL . At least a full year later it occurred to me that i should block the many many alts they came at me with if only so i have a list and so i blocked the same person about 7 more times . That number would be over 20 if i was inclined to block but they rarely used the same alt twice so it was to late to add those i'd missed . It didn't stop there though , its almost laughable that they began to visit me trying to be friends once it became clear to all that i was consumed with hate . More fool me i know , took me a long long time to recognise what i was doing to myself , but hey once i did i was able to pull myself out of that rut even if my rl was falling apart at the same time for unrelated reasons . I expect the first reply and all those that follow in reply to the above statement will be along the lines of "could have fooled us" So to pre-empt it i will say read my profile .

Make it all about me because i really don't give a .... Fact is i feel she's suffered twice over and more because establishment insists - be meek and move on . There is no excuse for that in rl and even less excuse for it in virtual . Is SL a game by which the user interacts with only bots or is it something more ? If its the latter should it not strive to be a better world for everyone ? "Blocking ineffective" is a new title for an old and repetitive thread , and every time it ends with "there will be no two way block because the "establishment" doesn't want it . The claim that "it will be spammed by griefers" does not hold water . Nobody can hide from LL so report date and time of griefing event and the griefer will automatically be slapped with a ban .

No blame . Just pointing out that she , the victim , followed the only course of action she felt available to her because its a cruel world we live in . Seems both ridiculous and ironic that here in the forum and in sl that the very same course of action is unanimously pushed as the best way forward . If you block someone for being a minor nuisance then this whole question never arises . When your blocking to prevent someone teaching you to hate then this whole matter takes on a more profound meaning .

Not sure why this news headline comes to mind , any ideas ? A serving police officer who was raped by David Carrick has said she didn't report it to the Met because her colleagues would have "laughed" and it would have been "the end of my career" Instead she blocked , avoided , ran away for 20 years so many more could suffer the same .

Those trusted to move furniture have a vested interest in keeping the peace , would it be extremely complicated to ensure they know exactly who is on sim regardless of the block feature ?

Their alts will tell you - wherever you go whatever you do they will follow you , private message anyone they suspect is talking to you , turning sl into a hostile zombie infested wasteland where you will wander alone ready to shoot down any approach . I would be astonished if i have spoken to a single stranger in the last 3 years who wasn't the alt of somebody i knew before . Sad part is some are surely well intentioned but its just easier to assume all carry the zombie infection .

I was invited back maybe 3 years later when the owner finally figured things out and banned the instigators . I looked in for 2 minutes but im not that guy any more . I'm sure won't believe me but i'm known to be very tolerant in comparison to my rl peers , a peace maker even given my habit of stepping between violent opponents . When the line is crossed though i have no interest in talking - the feral child in me is cornered and coming out and he learned very young to run at the threat because any attempt to go around it will fail when your opponent is twice your size . Not sure where this "hurt" business comes into it . Imagine finding a flat tyre on your car every single morning for 2 years , you know who is doing it but you can't find or catch him . Would you not want to punch him ?

I deserve that Scylla and its understandable that anyone who never met me before all this started will find it difficult to believe that i was once very easy to get along with and had time for everyone . As for making friends in sl i make no effort to , not any more . I still occasionally get messaged from the past , friends who don't want to give up on me and i let them know its appreciated but pointless . I just want to punch him however many times it takes to teach a gamer about consequence .

There are no rules "they" taught me that . Create an alt a week for 10 years like they did because nobody can report everybody .

The worst know all the rules upside down and backwards so very easily side step them . If your specifically targeted by this type then your choice is either to quit or become aggressive seeking every opportunity to slag them off publicly . Force them to block you . I blocked and walked away , maybe 2 years later they quit griefing me perhaps because they learned i was actively seeking a real name and address .

Producing 1000 new cars per minute has to be better for the planet that producing 50 per minute they would have us believe and be kind to animals by eating veg instead so we can kill them all . It has absolutely nothing to do with costs and profit said the unicorn to the dodo .

Who is complaining about LL/SL ? Slagging off microsoft windows is a fun international sport since it lost touch with human beings all those years ago . Works for Borg's though , i guess artificial intelligence is easily amused .

Installing win10 couldn't be easier all you need is a free iso provided by windows downloaded to a usb dongle . After about a year of tolerating win10 and learning my gtx1050 msi i resolved that it is easier and faster to remedy my printer problems by doing a clean install . Usually on a Friday when the printer gives me the paperwork i need to cross examine in order to calculate other peoples wages . Wages paid so now i can spend at least as much time again turning off every "useful" win10 feature i can find because its just influencer spyware which would have me believe i been wrong about my favourite colour , my gender , what food i like to eat , what cars i like to drive , etc , etc , etc for 50 years - rolls eyes . And then i can install the stuff i actually use . A full day just to achieve basic function . I am not opposed to change , I would like the newest and best browser out there , trouble is they achieved that with win7 and have been going downhill ever since by hiding basic function beneath evermore layers of junk failed miserably to copy andriod and apple . Windows 7+ operating system 2025 would do a lot to resolve the issue I reckon . A basic functioning platform able to download windows entire library of junk files should the user so wish .

Don't buy a windows machine you must mean because surely you can't be suggesting anyone buy one with an operating system that doesn't work and is based on several other operating systems that didn't work and will be obsolete before they ever get around to fixing it . Does anybody at all believe win11 will be any less awful than win10 ?

Windows employees just need lessons in consent . Draw short straws to decide who gets thrown off the roof each morning should be in the jobs contract .

Because im not a geek and would still be using my original first nokia phone had it not been lost at sea . In rage and frustration i fix what i need to make it work then say a silent prayer it will be left alone to continue working ,hence i haven't updated my only email provider since i got it must be nearly 20 years ago . The unwritten problem i worked out while whilst installing a new copy of windows 7 on a new and blank SSD is to use windows explorer 11 to find your visual studio downloads . And you have just days to install that before they kill the browser .

Its like electric cars , only 1% of the worlds population meet the criteria of wanting to own one , being able to facilitate the use of one , being able to afford one . Everyone else can live in a hutch at work and be fed rabbit food - and kids are voting for this !

You were right about ms visual c , i figured that out when i realized my internet explorer was so out of date it wouldn't open (i use firefox) installed i.e 11 and the necessary updates and then ms visual c . Catznip lets me login though i think from what ive read the Radegast viewer would suit my laptop better though it gives a dodgy signature error or something and won't install .

Nope , missing DLL error which i remember happening when i installed win7 years ago , took months to find the solution and i have no recollection of what it was . Copying my old hard drive seems no simple task any more or maybe you just shouldn't try it at 4 in the morning when patience is in short supply .

Yeah , truth is i only login to watch myself being bored out of habit , hence i won't buy a computer for sl . Ram and ssd just arrived so we shall see .

The linden viewer doesn't even bother to give an error message just puts a dead icon on my screen . Firestorm tries to start - crashes , then says unable to load basic shaders .

It has run SL for years as my spare laptop , not great but enough to rez other peoples avatars , right up until last night . This morning Firestorm insisted i upgrade to the newer version .
