Apparently this is Rush's most critically panned and fan disliked song. It went over so badly that their label almost dropped them over it. Yet it's pretty amazing if you 'get it'.

After this song, the label demanded they put out more commercially / radio friendly shorter songs, so they followed it up with the 20+ minute long song 2112. ;)

This song features heavily in the novel of Ready Player One.

I suspect they fall into 2 categories:

    - Reputable Bot operators for grid surveys, etc.

    - Companies like BB who most likely feel pressure to comply due to all the negative publicity.

    Anyone else, why bother?

Personally I was, and still am, supportive of the bb bots.  They never were able to obtain personal information (and I'm a big fan of making GDPR complaints).

For info: I've made GDPR requests to ll on piof and non piof accounts and nothing that is personal information is visible to bots.  (Note to moles before people run reporting: relevant bit as it highlights what can't be collected).

At least they published what they were doing on a website for people to see unlike so many of the anonymous bot services.

Do you have an account without MFA to check to see if Lumiya still works?  I'm not sure if this means all viewers by default have to be MFA enabled to connect to their servers, or if it simply means that people with MFA enabled accounts will need viewers that have MFA capabilities to log in with.  I don't have any older viewers to test it with myself.

I'm logged in on lumiya right now with no issues but I don't have mfa enabled.

Why you say this? I have never opened a thread in another forum. If you said this, do you have any evidence?????

I am just a researcher, I have no reason to do this.....

Seems other people beat me to it.

    Cue the reports for phishing/fraud.

It's true that virtual worlds like Second Life and MMOs have been around for decades, and the concept of a 'metaverse' isn't new. The idea of a shared, immersive online space where people can interact, create, and socialize has been a part of internet culture for a long time. However, recent advancements in technology and changes in society have reignited interest and discussions about the 'metaverse.'

The renewed interest can be attributed to several factors. First, technological advancements have made virtual reality and augmented reality more accessible and engaging, allowing for a more immersive and realistic experience within these virtual environments. This has captured the attention of a broader audience, including individuals and companies outside the traditional gaming or virtual world communities.

Secondly, the COVID-19 pandemic significantly accelerated the adoption of virtual platforms and remote collaboration tools. People turned to virtual spaces for social interactions, work meetings, conferences, and even shopping when physical interactions were limited. This increased usage highlighted the potential of virtual spaces to serve various purposes beyond gaming.

Lastly, prominent figures and companies, like Mark Zuckerberg and Meta (formerly Facebook), have brought mainstream attention to the concept of the 'metaverse' through ambitious projects and investments. Their involvement has sparked discussions in the mainstream media, attracting a wider audience and prompting conversations about the future of virtual spaces and their integration into our daily lives.

In essence, while the concept of the 'metaverse' isn't new, recent technological advancements and shifts in societal behavior have rejuvenated interest and highlighted its potential impact on how we interact, work, and socialize in the digital age.

I'd be careful of this, this op has a thread open in another forum begging for stuff to be bought for them.

  6. They don't just lock you out "immediately".

    https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/What_happens_to_delinquent_accounts

Linden Lab will continue to try and bill the account for 7 days past the billing date. During that period the owner of the account can continue to login as normal.

On the 8th day, the account is put on delinquent hold for 30 days. Paying up the account during that time will reinstate it.

On the 31st day (or 38th depending on how you look at it), the account is closed, and the land turned over to Governor Linden.

It does but LL know that there's a lot at stake here. - The mobile viewer has to be good and live up to expectations. If LL get this right, they're in effect paving the way for a successful future. Get it wrong and it could be brand damaging, especially given the "metaverse" concept has received a lot of bad press recently.

It's not like Speedlight in as much as they can't just develop a half arsed viewer with limited functionality/clunky UI and be done with it. -  It has to cater for everyone while providing an experience similar to that of the desktop viewer, albeit without the need to be tethered to your laptop/PC.

I'm looking forward to the Ll official mobile viewer

In that case, I come back to "The Lindens are inconsistent and prone to mistakes".

But as has been said elsewhere each case is unique.  A tiny bit of your house encroaching and it's obvious you've tried to make it all fit is entirely different to huge structures blocking the road

I am not able to log in (to in world servers as well) without letting Halliburton Company through my firewall.  Does anyone else have that issue?  Maybe you're not aware of it.  l find it very disconcerting that I have to do that.   There are many companies that are picky backing when I sign in but Halliburton is the most dominant.   Why?   What's their connection to Second Life.   Many questions.

    Have you rebooted your modem?

Sure, but a full on suspension? You don't get that just for putting a big object out. You don't get a suspension for doing even worse than that.

Agreed. To get a suspension takes a lot so either far more to it or fibs.

  11. Heck there's a certain delight in knowing how much it bothers someone.

Especially when you have only banned one specific person flying over your land within range of your sky box constantly and ignores you when you ask them to stop .

Result, the careful ones pass right on by, while the one awkward person suddenly finds their voyage torpedoed.

No, I've had no reason to want to go to them. I've never been on their sim not once.

Is the necklace really an Opt out? or do I have to wear it constantly? Because I'm not doing it..

Somebody's missed nap time from the sound of it.

Get the necklace, add it to your avatar, click it, follow the instructions to get removed.

    Saves unnecessary tantrums.

For those who keep telling me to ignore it, this has been happening to me now for almost 2 years!!

I've had all kinds of scenarios. Like people trying to befriend me just so they can get close. I've lost friends over this after finding out they participate in progeny and I don't know if they've been feeding on me this entire time. I don't even know who bit me in the first place. It makes it hard to trust people are genuine.

Have you actually been and got their garlic necklace? It's on their SIM somewhere in a vendor.  That's the "opt out" from bloodlines and seemingly deactivate you in their system.

Another question might be why there are so many users of Firestorm. The answer is not because it's so much better.

Perhaps, perhaps not.  For me, it's thf extra tweaks such as "show friends only" or being able to de render specific objects.  The text mode, for when I'm just online for chatting is another superb option in it.

as tommy linden says in public, maybe send him a message directly on here on inworld

for the benefit of those who constantly post incorrect information, tommy Linden has stated publicly several times that people can message him directly if abuse reports haven't been answered after a few days.
