not sure what is going on but i suggest Azuracast, it installs icecast and liquidsoap for auto dj and has a cool web interface to better manage your radio station but does require at least 4 gigs of ram

i just buy direct from the lindens via the inworld Buy L$ button

ok i just quickly scrolled through this thread.
LL's overhead cost is more then what they pay for AWS.
Theres employee's to pay that do all the techy work to improve and keep the regions online
other services like FreshDesk for support tickets, Canney for feedback
Im sure vivox is charging to use their voice system. So their overhead is high im assuming so where else they going to get the money to cover costs?
Yes LL can cut down abit like make their own support ticket system, i'd write it all for just $500 USD
But FreshDesk is pretty awesome to use.
Not sure about Canney or what Microsoft is charging to use Github for bug reports but i know JIRA is expensive.
And as i always say about other games that has microtransaction stores. Dev's gotta eat too.Hope that helps to understand why region rentals are expensive in SL compared to other virtual worlds.
In short, LL charges alot per region due to overhead costs including AWS fees.- 1

zomg yall are bugging the lindens over floating while logging in? i think theres more serious issues to focus on then to fix a floating issue.
So ya float on login, not a big deal ehFixing PBR related bugs so firestorm can release a update is kinda a big deal.
My issue is loading speed but thats because im caching to my hard drive instead of my SSD.- 2

i get bored with sl at times too but theres so much to do other then clubbing or playing inworld games.
flying, driving, sailing, railroading all on the mainlands.
learn to play with prims or learn the inworld scripting language called LSL.
Find a roleplay community, theres tons out there both private and mainlands.
Firefighting is fun, so is driving a taxi for people. -

Shark gaming Shark Maelstrom R706 Gaming PC
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor
1 TB SSD & 16 GB RAM
MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ventus 2X OC
ASUS PRIME A520M-K motherboard.
get 32 GB of ram. trust me i just got another 16GB stick and sl has been fabulous
i just ran around the snowlands with draw distance of 256 meters, no lag other then firestorm freezing because it cant keep up. -

It depends very much on what you are doing in SL.
Firestorm uses about 3Gb when I'm alone in my skybox, and as much as 20Gb if I am in a busy club with 40+ avatars (and that is also with my 12Gb video memory maxed out).
(Try going to Peak nightclub, which is usually pretty busy. A quick test there right now shows Firestorm alone using 18Gb).
yea sounds about right for FS, i lag, ram maxes out and gpu and cpu heats up at clubs
right now sitting at 60% usage with fs, chrome and discord open as well as my f-secure security manager

Can you list your other hardware? I've never seen Firestorm consume more than about 12GB. I have a lot more but I just don't see this high RAM usage.
3.2Ghz and a nvidia 1650 SUPER with 4GB of ram that FS barely uses. Majority of fs rendering seems to be being stored on my motherboard ram then the nvidia.

SSP?
in Linden Homes

like in Cecropia theres a waste water pond there.

to all those praising opensim. i guess you praise theift as well since most of the content in opensim are stolen stuff from SL including belliseria homes i have found, thats why i left OS and uninstalled the OS version of firestorm

2. Is there a Second Life 2.0 in development? And if so, what engine is being considered?
SL is already at version 7 both the viewer and server code with the release of the new rendering features

probably cuz the amount of gift giving going on right now
Also i hope the lindens can move casper stuff over to the same data center as SL is in, OVH is ok but their network speed just isnt up to par as the rest of the internet. Asuming Caspertech is still using OVH. -
Wednesday and it looks like the RC's got reverted back to the PBR release to cancel out that thud issue. I guess to give the programmers more time to fix the issue in the new year.
