  1. Security orbs are allowed in Bellisseria, but with some restrictions: -Minimum of 15 seconds warning time (no shorter) -Eject from parcel only (not teleport them home) -Effective range cannot include the airspace between 400m and 2000m (to allow for people to fly overhead but not in the airspace where skyboxes are allowed) -Does not add names of ejected persons to the parcel ban list automatically Security orbs that don't comply with the restrictions can be AR'd, but security orbs under 400m or over 2000m which comply with the other restrictions are OK. Skyboxes or other platforms/structures in the sky in Bellisseria regions are supposed to be over 2000m, so the air space between 400m and 2000m should be open for flying without running into skyboxes or platforms, and without running into security orbs, as long as the parcel owner is following the covenant rules regarding sky structures and security orbs.
  2. Did you look all the way down to the bottom of the Firestorm wiki page Rowan linked to above? It has a section for some additional troubleshooting for Firefox, and perhaps there is something there that will help you identify where the problem is with Firefox: FireFox In Firefox, goto Tools → Options → Applications Tab and scroll to Secondlife. Look to see if Firestorm is listed, if not, select “other”, then browse your hard drive to find the Firestorm.exe, click on it, select Open, then click Ok. (Reference: Applications panel—Set how Firefox handles different types of files.) OR Download and install the regular SL viewer - but don't run it. OR Try this if the above does not work: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/gaming-games-multimedia-entertainment/104105-how-firefox-calls-secondlife-slurls.html
  3. Did you make sure you also clicked the "use list" button in the home controller? Regarding the land permissions, make sure that the role you assigned to your friends has build access, and make sure that when you look on the main "About Land" tab, it shows that the parcel is set to your group. Then your friends need to have the group active and check that they have the role you created for rez access. If you added them to the group after they logged in, you might try having them relog - sometimes that's needed to kick in the group role permissions. If you've checked all of the above, and you still have issues, you can contact Live Chat during their business hours tomorrow via Support. That's also one of the premium benefits.
  4. Regarding the access for opening doors, after you add the names to the access list in the home controller, you also need to click the "use list" button. You should be able to go back into the Access section of the controller and click a button to see the names on the list, to confirm all the names on there are correct, and then click the "use list" button in case that wasn't done earlier. The land group just controls land permissions, like who can build (set down objects), the house controller controls who can enter the house and open/close doors.
  5. Last names were no longer an option at the time I joined, so I didn't really have any strong feelings about not being able to have a last name. The default "Resident" last name didn't bother me because I rarely saw it or had to use it. When last names were offered again, I did purchase a last name which I used for a while with just the "Moira" part of my name as the first name, but I wasn't able to get comfortable seeing the revised name. So, I ended up changing back to just my original name (but with the capitalization fixed).
  6. I don't feel a need to fly or hover in stores or at events. I generally end up doing a combination of camming down an aisle / walking around.
  7. Yeah, I remembered that just after I submitted my comment above. I'm going to try and hold out until 65 at the earliest, hopefully until I'm 66... but hopes are a bit dimmer than they used to be.
  8. The RL tab of my profile says that I'm a grandmother, but I may not be as old as someone reading that might think. I've come to realize recently that people think of someone being around their own grandparents' age when they hear someone is a grandparent. I retired early - in my early 50's - to stay home and watch grandkids during the day, and I'm not quite old enough yet to start collecting social security. I turned 63 this past summer. I've been inworld since 2014.
  9. I only have 4 on my block list inworld, and I think most of them were people or objects that kept sending me ads that I didn't subscribe to and there was not an easy way to unsubscribe. If I'm getting something unsolicited, I'm not going to go to a lot of time and work to figure out how to unsubscribe - if it's not immediately clear and easy to do, I'm just going to block the sender.
  10. I'm not sure where you're getting the $216 from - according to the chart Rolig posted above (which is from LL's Knowledge Base article about managing private regions) the highest cost is $150 for someone who only owns 1 - 4 regions. I think the only time the region transfer fee applies is not when purchasing a region, but when you decide you want to move an existing region for some reason. Are you talking about buying a private region from another resident and as part of the purchase having the region moved to another location? According to the "Transferring a Private Region" section of the Knowledge Base article "Managing Private Regions" (bolding by me): Linden Lab can perform Resident-to-Resident transfers of Private Regions (islands), but both buyer and seller need to agree on a price. Both buyer and seller must submit support tickets, via the Support Portal, naming the region to be transferred and the transaction amount agreed upon in Linden dollars (L$). Both sides also have to confirm other details about the region being transferred. We can rename the Private Region and move it from its original location at the time of the transfer for no additional cost. Please include these requests in the buyer's transfer ticket. If you're ordering a new region direct from LL, you are able to choose a location if you want without any additional charge, it looks like according to the "Purchasing from the Land Store" section of the Knowledge Base article "Private Regions": Region Coordinates are automatically filled in; these coordinates are where your Region will be physically located on the World Map. If you'd prefer to override them, click [change], then click a map square that isn't crossed out in red. You can click the arrow buttons to look at different areas on the map. You can also search for another region to be near (for example, one that a friend or colleague owns -- see Ordering adjacent regions for how that works).
  11. For Fall and Winter clothing, especially when something is too skimpy, BOM really comes in handy. I have a lot of BOM tank tops in various colors that are great for wearing under a jacket which is too short (cropped) and/or isn't completely closed in front. I also have worn BOM long sleeve tops under sleeveless tunic length dresses and will wear BOM pants or leggings with boots.
  12. I like to have bird sounds around on my parcel. I have a couple of objects (a birdhouse, a birdbath, and a static rabbit) which contain an assortment of various bird/nature sounds, plus I have some individual birds of different species that contain just one type of bird song which I put on in different parts of the parcel. There is one sound in some of the "assorted nature sounds" objects which I do not like, so I've been able to modify the items script to exclude that sound. I used to worry that I had gone a bit overboard with the birds, but then one day when I was sitting at my RL desk by the back patio doors which were open, I got confused for a minute by the bird sounds I was hearing. It must have been springtime or summer. I thought for a moment it was the bird sounds from my parcel, but I wasn't in SL - they were from the birds in our own RL backyard. In Bellisseria if I have a home in one of the newer areas with atmospheric sounds I leave my sound settings so that I can hear those and I don't put out any of my own objects that make sounds. Currently I have a Trad and those areas don't have atmospheric sounds, so I have my sounds limited just to my parcel there, as I do on my mainland parcel. I don't allow voice on any of my parcels.
  13. The LL viewer. I don't think all the 3rd party viewers have incorporated the new profile window changes yet.
  14. I could be premium plus already for other reasons, whether or not I was interested in getting a homestead, so to me it was a separate category of costs. I also didn't do the calculations for higher weekly homestead rental costs such as some of the higher costs mentioned by some above (6100, 7200 or 7500 L$'s/week). I'm one who would rather have the convenience of having LL bill me through my payment method automatically each month than having to buy large amount of L$'s and pay rent at a rental box all the time. I also would want to be the actual owner rather than just having estate manager rights. So, for me, the extra for premium plus less the value of the stipend received and the free 2048 sqm tier which I do use, would just be a cost for convenience (and after the stipend and free tier are taken out, it's not that much of a cost to be a deal breaker).
  15. Not all benefits of premium or premium plus are things that everyone wants or needs. People that own their own regions or are happy renting from private estates don't always need or want the free LH or 1024 sqm free tier. Others don't go to events so don't need the ability to get into full regions. Others don't need the increased number of groups ... Evaluating the perks and benefits is something that each person needs to do for their own situation. What one person sees as beneficial may not be beneficial at all to someone else, and that's OK.
  16. For 52 weeks, that's L$317,148. If I were to buy that amount in lindens today that would cost me $1315.13. If I was buying L$'s each month to cover the rent, that would add a few more dollars on because I'd have more transaction fees for purchasing L$'s more frequently. At $109 a month for a homestead direct from LL, 12 months is $1308.
  17. The being able to upload a profile picture without an upload fee? Yes, I did it a few days ago, and just did it again before posting this comment. It's done in the new profile window. The "Actions" dropdown has an option for "Upload Photo".
  18. If you're using the LL viewer you can update your profile picture inworld (via the new profile window) and you can either choose an existing picture from inventory, or you can upload a picture directly to your profile picture tab without having to pay any upload fee.
  19. If you are a premium member and either get a linden home (which can be either on a 1024 sqm parcel, or for a few themes, on a 512 sqm parcel) OR purchase a mainland parcel that is not larger than 1024 sqm you will not have any additional monthly charges for land. With Linden Homes, you have a house included which does not count against your land impact of the parcel, but there is a land covenant that you need to agree to. With mainland parcels there is a one-time purchase cost (and possibly a monthly tier charge - see chart below), but you are free to do pretty much what you want with the land as long as you stay within your allowed land impact and the overall SL TOS and mainland policy (there isn't a covenant, or a provided house like with the Linden Homes). If you own more than 1024 sqm (between mainland and/or Linden Home) you would be billed a monthly tier amount based on the total amount of land you owned during the month over the initial 1024 sqm. If you look on your web dashboard on the left column "Land Manager" -> "Land Use Fees" you can see what the monthly charge would be for various tiers of mainland sqm's owned.
  20. There have been times when I've had as many as 4, but I currently only have 1. The tier from my other premium accounts (now down to just 2) is used for a 2256 sqm mainland parcel.
  21. For me, it's things like having to buy $L's each month for paying the rent or having to worry that if I get sick or ended up in the hospital, I may not be able to get inworld to buy the $L's and pay the rent. While I've heard that some land companies allow payments outside of SL through PayPal, I wouldn't be comfortable with that. I'd rather have LL bill my payment method directly each month. Additionally, if there should happen to be some type of issue with the region, I'd prefer to be able to deal directly with LL - as the region owner rather than as an estate manager.
  22. The ability to obtain a homestead region by renting from one of the large land companies has been an option for a long time. Presumably, many people interested in an entire homestead region without having to own a full region first have most likely availed themselves of this option. The ability to own a homestead directly from LL without having to first purchase a full region is something that I've seen requested by people over the years. So, there is some percentage of people interested in directly owning a homestead from LL - even though the option to rent an entire homestead already exists. Now, there is a way that people can achieve this if they want to. If I was in a position to be able to get a homestead region, I'm another one of the group that would rather go the premium plus route and get the homestead direct from LL, instead of renting from a land company. For myself, I would rather deal directly with LL than having to go through a 3rd party.
  23. I dress for the season most of the time in SL. I'm more likely to do so when I'm going out sightseeing at locations that are seasonally themed. I don't always wear coats or jackets but try to at least wear long sleeve shirts and pants or leggings with boots when I visit autumn or winter themed places. What I don't like are long sleeved tops or sweaters/jackets that leave the midriff completely bare.
