Oddly, in this thread, I actually enjoyed reading the necro post. Given the topic of the thread overall, it was refreshing to read an updated post from someone who has taken a good look at various aspects of SL over the last couple of years, and has given explanations for why they had changed their thoughts about whether SL was dying or not.

While I don't consider any SL pictures I post as "shoddy", I also don't consider my SL (or RL) pictures as "art". I don't think that the 'how does your avatar look today" thread was ever considered to be only art pictures when it was first started - it was very informal and welcoming to anyone who wanted to post pictures in it. There were several posters who also did the more artistic very set up and photoshopped photographs, but there was another avatar photo thread (Vanity) where they usually posted those pictures. I take inworld pictures to capture experiences or looks mainly for myself, and from time to time there's one or two that I really like and choose to post to share with others. Except for a few landscape pictures (and picture threads that have to do with what your SL, or SL house, looks like) I tend to avoid posting pictures in threads that appear to have an "artsy" intent.

Before you buy a mesh body, be sure to get a demo first, and then experiment around using the shape sliders to see how close you can get with that body to the shape you want. Each brand of mesh body will react to various shape sliders a little differently.

While it will be a little bit more money to buy L$'s in the amount I usually buy, I don't see that affecting my L$ buying habits.

The official viewer does have that feature - it's a folder called "My Favorites".

An integrated live calendar which shows all of the currently existing in-world building classes. I know I haven't been to all the places which offer building classes on a regular basis, but the ones I have been to have been at Builders Brewery (including a series of classes using Blender), Happy Hippo Building School and Caledon Oxbridge University. There could be LM's next to the calendar for building places that have tutorials but not classes (like the Ivory Tower and the place that teaches about using particles - can't remember it's name right now). I think if all the classes being offered were displayed on a single calendar, people would be surprised at how much is available even now.

In the SL Viewer, on the Profile window, there is an "Actions" dropdown button, which has a selection for "Edit Display Name".

Cookies, tea and a good book... sitting at home in RL drinking tea during a heavy storm and remembering rainy junior high afternoons sitting with friends at their house drinking tea while reading books.

Explore more and take more pictures. Perhaps try to be a bit more social.

You might try Robin (Sojourner) Wood's shop on Livingtree. (She passed away several years ago, but some of her friends have kept her region with her store and her texture tutorial area active). I don't have them in my inventory anymore but back before I got my first mesh body, her jeans were my favorite system layer jeans. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Livingtree/89/136/25 It looks like it's L$150 for the fat pack shown in the vendor pic below, so inexpensive enough to take a chance on. (I may go back and pick up another set just for nostalgia's sake). edit to add: the ones in the vendor center are "worn" style (with the hole in the knees) but there are other fat pack options in the vendor that are "good" jeans without the knee holes and with less faded colors.

If I remember correctly Cinnamon and Chai have a unique UV so only clothes specifically made for them will fit. I can't remember seeing any inclusion of sizes for them outside of some clothes from 1BadPixel that were remade to include them. If they were to be starter avatars, it would be like that one set of starter avatars a number of years ago that were labeled as "mesh bodies" but I don't think any creators picked up on rigging for them. When people came here to the forums trying to find clothes for them, we told them to change to one of the older starter avatars that could wear standard sized and system clothes.

The Slink store LM now appears as "Slink Updating Square" in my TP history and it still works. The canopy area with the redelivery terminal and extra alphas vendor is still there, and the store building is still there (though I didn't cam over to look inside it). You do need to cam into either of those locations.

Yesterday after she sent the link out for her goodbye message to the group, she was in the group chat for a little bit and did post a few responses to people in the group. She had also left a small landing area available yesterday (not sure about today) so people could cam to get redeliveries, last minute items from the store, use up their store credit or get a developer's kit. People often complain about creators who leave SL but leave their items up on their MP store even though there is no support for them by the creator going forward. So, I think a complete break is justified. People who already had her products and belonged to the group will know what happened and there will not be anyone able to buy the body after it's no longer supported by her. I can also see why she didn't give a lot of lead time. If she had sent out her notice earlier, it's likely she would have had a lot of messages from people wanting her to stay and might have felt like she had to keep explaining why she was leaving. She had said in her message - which I also found to be very gracious - that she had been soul searching over this for the last 18 months and that it was a serious decision based on her own physical and mental well-being needs. She mentioned that she is starting something new - outside of SL - and I wish her the best of luck with her new endeavor and for the healing and restoration of her physical and mental being.

When it gets a bit closer to midnight for me (my time is same as SLT) I'll probably go out dancing somewhere in SL.

I went over right after the notice came out, to get a redelivery because I couldn't remember how long it had been and wanted to make sure I had the latest. I was surprised to land in a little square corner with ban lines around, but there was an area almost adjacent with a redelivery terminal and a vendor for the extra alphas that could be cammed to. The store was also still up a little further away (for camming into), but I was mainly just interested in the redelivery terminal. I don't know for how long it will still be available though.
