  1. There are limits as to how many avatars can be on a region at one time.  The very popular events, like this one, set up neighboring areas where you can "cam shop" (move just your camera over to the other region so that you can see the stalls and their contents, and can click on demo buttons or make purchases).  After a few days, maybe a week, the initial excitement dies down and the main region will not be full all the time.

Same problem for me. I log into second life with my firestorm viewer. I rez at home location and then once I trans port to another location, the program crashes and the BUGSPLAT Comes up. I report the problem but no answer.

I am using Windows 10 on my laptop 64, It has worked great for the past year or more, so I don't know why it is crashing now everytime.

I am also using Google Chrome

In order for anyone to be able to start troubleshooting, we need some info from your viewer about your laptop and SL settings.  In the viewer, click HELP-> About...  which opens a window with that information.  Copy/paste that info here.  You can do this by just opening the viewer and not logging in, or if you're able to stay logged in long enough without crashing, you can get the info after logging in.

You mentioned that this just stated happening - is there anything you can think of that may have changed recently either with your laptop or with how you connect to the internet?

You might also want to take a look at Firestorm's troubleshooting help for crashing:  https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_run_crash

  3. I would not be in favor of having the LI/sqm ratio increased either in Bellisseria.  With the house not counting against our parcel LI we already are getting a bonus - we're free to use the entire parcel LI allotment for just furnishings and landscaping.  I also think if the LI per parcel was increased,  there would be issues with lag and/or textures not loading well. I would not want to have less of the beautiful Mole landscaping as a trade-off for having higher parcel LI. It's all the public landscaping and public areas that, in my opinion, really make Bellisseria special.

LH's aren't intended to meet all of everyone's needs.  They are one option available and each person needs to decide for themselves whether a LH with it's constraints (LI, covenant, etc.) is best for them, or whether looking at other land rental or ownership possibilities is best for them.

One of the errors this expresses, I think—at least, I would argue it is an error—is to give equal stakeholder weight to all SL users, when some would be oblivious to the issues caused by roaming bots. Should the opinions of the uniformed / unaffected carry equal weight when devising solutions? I would say the rational answer is that no, they shouldn't. People who don't care might not see a reason to advocate for changes for those who do care, until or unless they learned more about the issues in question.

It's possible that other SL users who may not have, or might not be aware of, the issue with "roaming" bots may have experience or knowledge about other types of bots, which don't continually roam and which do not collect user data from avatars.  I would hope that equal stakeholder weight would be given to looking at all sides of how bots are being used if a solution is going to be applied across the board to all bots in general.

even if it's somewhat affordable, some of us cannot spare the extra money, so having a home included with the membership is how we get by.

Of course.  We each have our own priorities and limitations that we have to balance out for the best for ourselves.  I'm also not in a position to rent from estates or own a homestead or full region. I get by having my mainland tier covered by premium accounts, and I've fluctuated between 2048 - 4096 sqm holdings depending on RL circumstances when a premium comes up for renewal and whether I also want a LH or not, at any given time.

The idea of a 2048 LH is intriguing, but at this point I don't know if I'd want to give up my mainland for it. That might change after they're available, but in the meantime I'm enjoying what I have on mainland.

Yes you can go get mainland, but that's if you can find a piece that's A.) The right size. B.) Isn't being scalped to ridiculous prices for a piece of mainland. Like seriously, c'mon.

One of the best ways to get a mainland parcel in the size that you want and for an affordable price (usually L$1 per sqm) is to find some abandoned land in an area that you like and put in a request to purchase a parcel of the size that you want.

There's a knowledge base article about abandoned land which includes a section on how to request buying abandoned land:

  7. Sometimes it's as simple as going back to  the store and clicking on the subscriber which then presents you with a dialog box with an "unsubscribe" button.  If you receive a notecard, sometimes there will be unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of the notecard message.

If you can't find a subscriber at the store, and there are not any instructions for unsubscribing, you may need to contact the sender.  If all else fails, you may need to block the sender.

  8. If you bought a 2048 sqm parcel and wanted to put a skybox on the parcel, you could certainly do that.  When you buy a parcel, it includes not just the ground portion, but all the air space above it as well. You would just need to make sure that the skybox or sky platform fit within  the property lines of the parcel.

  9. I didn't see the region monthly decrease as something for the land barons, but more as something for the non-land barons who would like to own their own full region.  There has been criticism of land costs being too high, for quite some time.  The $20 decrease isn't a lot, but it is something, especially in the light of it being on top of earlier decreases for region costs.

Wow, so pretty! You look completely at home there.

I need to visit it too, if only to work out how he's done his flowers, and copy it shamelessly.

Thanks!  It's an easy place to feel at home.   He's a master at landscaping and decor.  I don't know how he manages to get so many things set out, and still, it's very easy on the viewer (even for those of us traveling around using the SL viewer).

  11. I don't know enough about photography to critique other's pictures, but personally, out of this set of pictures, I liked the 3rd and 7th the best.

All of the details involved with creating the pictures doesn't affect me, not does it change what I might think about the quality of the picture I'm looking at.  I expect really great photography to be like a lot of other arts where the final products stand alone, and all the hard work or training behind the scenes is a given, but not usually discussed, unless it is a few sentences about how a particular challenging aspect of the picture was obtained, or a mention of the inspiration for the picture.  There are also many truly wonderful SL pictures taken using just effects/environmental settings available through viewers, particularly Black Dragon with it's posing capabilities, and without any post processing outside of SL.

  12. If you go into your profile feed (my.secondlife.com) and click on "Friends" from the sidebar, there will be tabs for list of people you follow and for list of people following you.  You can turn off the ability for people to follow you in the Settings for the profile feed (and I think this may remove anyone currently following you, but I'm not sure about that).

  13. I've had this 4096 mainland parcel for several years, with a variety of houses and landscaping over time.  These pictures are of the current house and landscaping.  I had thought I was going to need to give this land up, but realized how important it is to me, so I found some other things to cut from my discretionary budget.  I find being out on my land to be very relaxing and stress reducing, which is something needed right now given how chaotic my RL household is right now, and that I'm also 11 months out from chemotherapy, radiation therapy and major surgery (and cancer free at the moment!).  I choose this house with its goddess symbol windows to remind me that I'm strong and will survive!

There are bird songs and other nature sounds all over the parcel.

  14. Posting here is not filing a ticket - that needs to be done through the Support page https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/

Accounts are not supposed to be shared, so the owner of the account would need to be the one to file the support ticket.

The support ticket should explain that the password was forgotten and the account's email is no longer accessible, if that is the case.

Being as you are not the owner of the account, it might be best for you to just create another account for role-playing purposes.
