Many of the best sited parcels in the Newbrooke theme are 512s

Same with the Sakura theme. Alot of 512s are at beautiful locations.

Just like you, I love the Sakura theme. Especially the community region Shobu is gorgeous. Anyone who hasn't visited it yet should go take a look.

Now that there are so many styles to choose from there will be less motivation for people to choose a location they are not keen on, as they can switch over to a better performing cache of homes in an alternate home style.

    This!

When a theme is high in demand, and only has a couple of available homes, people will just take whatever they can get, even if it isn't the best location. But for a theme with 2550 available homes, where you can see many empty waterfront parcels, people are not gonna settle for a landlocked one.

This needs fixing, not least because it is costing LL money if customers want homes and can't get hold of them.

Unless they are doing this on purpose, hoping that people get so frustrated that they upgrade to Premium Plus to request one.

That's what I was going to do, if I hadn't been so lucky to roll the one that you abandoned.

Thing is, that things have changed with the release of the new Premium Plus homes. Most people will want to use their PP on a PP Linden Home, instead of using it to ticket a regular Linden Home. At least that's what was keeping me from doing this for a while.

This might be one of the reasons some themes ”get stuck” ending up ”less popular”. Iv tried a lot for logs and chalets too, earlier, and as this happened over and over i just gave up.

Yeah, this must be the reason for the Chalets, because there are alot of seriously beautiful locations along that main river/canal, but the majority of them is vacant. I don't believe that no one would want them.

To avoid this, before every try, I had to certificate that the last house I abandoned was already claimed by someone else.

At least that works with a theme that's high in demand, but in my case, I seem to be one of the few ones that are trying to get a Chalet, so that makes the chance of someone claiming and keeping my unwanted homes close to zero 😞

  6. I know the frustration of this.

I've been trying to get a nice home in the Chalet theme. It's not a very popular theme as you may know, with over 2500 available homes.

There are lots of empty waterfront homes that I'm trying to get, but I keep getting the same homes over and over and over. Sometimes I get the same one three times a day. Makes me want to pull out my hair lol. It really seems like the homes that are at the top of the list will stay there, and go back to the top of the list when you abandon them, even when there are 2500 others available?

I also noticed another thing: some empty homes are in the "Linden Department of Public Works" group, and others are in the "Maintenance" group. I think the ones in the Maintenance group can't be claimed off the land page, and alot of homes stay in that group for months. Does anyone know more about how that works?

Yeah, it'd be neat if there was some way to collect the ones I don't have from the Halloween hunt.  Didn't really have time to hunt during Halloween, though, more importantely, even if I had, I hadn't realized, at that time, how I'd get into collecting Boopies.

I feel the same way. If I had known that the Boopies were going to be a recurring thing at events and holidays, and that I would start liking to collect them,  then I would have tried harder to get them at the Halloween hunt.

But I didn't find the Halloween ones very cute at the time, so I didn't bother to get them. I like the Christmas ones better, which made me want to collect them.

It will be a mix of previous elements from styles presenting as new.

That is what I feel about ranches. It gave me a feeling of Trads mixed with Log homes, sized up to Vic homeplans. I could say it is a mix of the best previous themes, turned into the best theme yet.

    That's exactly what I thought!

Being from Europe, alot of the Linden Home styles look too similar to me. From a European perspective, many houses are just a variation of the same thing, with some different details, landscaping or colorscheme.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Linden Homes, but I'm ready for a theme that's totally different. I would really like to see some brick houses, or something Mediterranean.

No one every said that being a paying customer excuses anyone from following the rules or that "the customer is always right" (because they most definitely are not). It's just a little thing called Hanlon's Razor. "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by neglect, ignorance or incompetence."

It is probably one of the most powerful ideas you can keep in your mental toolbox. If you're working in customer service especially, it is something that can help you maintain your sanity and keep from becoming jaded and cynical as well as providing a better customer service experience.

That's actually very helpful, thank you Abnor!

  10. The fact that someone is a paying customer, doesn't mean that they don't have to abide by the rules, then what's the point of having a covenant?

But maybe this is a cultural thing. LL is an American company. In the American customer service, the customer is always right, and companies go out of their way to pamper them. That's not always how things work in the rest of the world. I know the difference, 'cause I've been working in customer service myself for 14 years now (in the Netherlands).

Likely possible scenario: Sign was returned and resident was politely informed renting out a linden home is not allowed. Resident ignored the warning and put the sign back up. Governance figured the matter was closed because nobody reported it was back up.

I'm sure that's what happened, but Governance has probably been too nice about it, as the advertisement at the Land forums didn't even get taken down, so people were still able to contact the guy. This gave me the impression that the matter was taken quite lightly, so then I'm not gonna bother reporting it again.

It's not my job to prevent people from doing it again, that's Linden Lab's job. I did my part by reporting what was going on, after that it's LL's responsibility.

If you have irrefutable proof I encourage you to abuse report the persons doing this. Yes, I know it's difficult to prove, but anyone caught renting out their Linden Home(s) as a business to make L$ runs the risk of serious consequences.

I'm not so sure about the seriousness of the consequences. Less than a year ago I've reported someone who was renting out a Linden Home (an old Tahoe one), who even advertised it at the For Rent Land forums. The "for rent" sign at that house was gone after filing the report, but their post at the forums didn't even get deleted, and a few weeks later the for rent sign was back up, including more advertisings at the forums. So I just gave up reporting it.

  13. Just here to add some shortcuts that people might not be aware of. These work in the Firestorm viewer, I don't know about other viewers.

I see people using all kinds of complicated methods to fly up to a certain height, but all you have to do to fly up to for instance 2000m, is type in your nearby chat: gth 2000 (and hit enter)

You will be teleported to that height straight away, make sure you are in fly mode lol.

To rez a platform to build on, all you have to do is type in your chat: rezplat (and hit enter)

You can do this at any height.

But wait, you mean every single different house? But that can't be? Whenever I click on that mailbox thing, it has only one option for a content pack, regardless of the different house styles.

Not every single house, but every single theme, like Loghomes, Victorians, Sakura, Stilthomes, Chalets etc.

There are different items in the content pack of a Victorian house, than the pack of a Sakura house.....

  15. Another way to directly support people in Ukraine is through Airbnb.

Book a room/apartment in Ukraine, for instance in Kiev, at Airbnb and pay for it. Let the owner know that you won't be coming, that you are doing this to support them and that they can keep the money. There are even rooms for less than $10, in case you can't donate alot of money. Airbnb won't charge any service-costs for Ukraine to support this.

The real prize cabin, IMHO, in Naughty Pines, has not yet been claimed.  But then, you would have to be cool with Slendy being your nextdoor neighbor!

That one actually did get claimed during the initial release, but got abandoned again. Probably for that reason cause I can't think of any other reason why someone wouldn't want that dreamspot, unless you don't like water all around lol.
