  1. This beautiful little island is for sale! The area is clean and offers terrific views. The items on the island can remain if you want, or you can return them. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lamprey/207/55/47
  2. Thank you. If I could like this post a thousand more times and have in pinned, I would.
  3. That's completely fair, and a good enough suggestion I've made changes accordingly. Thanks
  4. Which is sad, because there are consequences based on that "subjective standard." If there weren't, I really wouldn't care. There is no doubt they have the final word, I never suggested they did not. Having that final word, however, does not mean they are right. I never made the assertion that anyone should be forced to do anything. Also, fascism is a form of radical nationalist authoritarianism and has absolutely nothing to do with my observations on the nature of perception in a virtual environment. Nor did I suggest an authority (Linden Labs) should force anyone to do anything. Note that to date, if a sim owner has asked me to change my avatar or leave, I have always opted to leave without causing any further problems for them. I am fully aware that managing a sim is extremely difficult and have no desire to complicate it further. You are absolutely right that the world is not fair. I am fortunate to have the freedom to go or look elsewhere if I choose, and I also have the freedom to attempt to change peoples minds. If being in touch with the larger shared reality means tiny hands, arms that are too short, and grotesquely oversized hips and breasts, then I'm not only happy to be out of touch with the majority, I will continue to advocate for anatomical correctness by example. The consequences of such a stance may mean that I shall never be welcome on any adult sim, and I am prepared to accept that.
  5. Height isn't the issue in my case, and when I was referring to proportions, I was not referring to endowment. My reference to proportions is related to anatomical measurements. There is objective truth with regards to size ratios of head to body, arm length, torso length and the like. These proportions change as a person ages. A baby's head, for example, takes up around a quarter of their body length. In general it would be accurate to say there is some variation, certainly - but it is not hugely significant. Can you imagine how distorted an adult would look if their head was one-quarter of their height? It's ridiculous. The same rules apply to children, teenagers, and finally adults. Proportioning a character following anatomical rules makes them scientifically and measurably adult, regardless of how young their face looks, how big their breasts are, or how wide their hips are. There is FAR more significant variation in those measurements than there is in anatomical proportions and ratios.
  6. This is all part of a larger issue that I have no idea how to handle. It is extremely easy to spot someone using a child or toddler avatar, but the line blurs quite a bit when it comes to perceptions about an avatar that simply looks young. As I've pointed out to people, an 18-year-old, for example, can still be in high school depending on when their birthday is. I still go to college now and many of the freshmen look so young I might consider them to still be in middle school. In the case of my avatar, I attempted to go a different route, focusing instead on things that were objectively true. I studied human anatomy as it relates to drawing, so when it came to adjusting the proportions, I followed the guidelines set for a fully grown adult. There is some debate about the 8-heads rule being closer to 7.5 heads for females, but for simplicity, I proportioned her for 8 heads. Her breasts and hips are not oversized and generally what one would see on an athletic girl of around age 20. Her height is set to 1.8 meters, which honestly is a bit taller than most women but again, I was attempting to make at least some concession for overall scale. I use the Maitreya body and a Pink Fuel skin. In my profile, I have her age set to 20. I do not play her as a being younger than 20, I use no gestures or in any way hint at playing a minor. Despite all of my careful attention to detail and focus on anatomical realism, adult roleplay sims have been insistent that to be allowed on an adult sim I would need to change my shape and have suggested my avatar "looks" too young - which of course is entirely subjective and totally inaccurate. It is a physical impossibility for an underage teen to have the proportions my avatar has but that doesn't seem to matter. Triumph of the subjective. I know it will never happen, but I wish I could somehow get LL to "approve" my avatar. A process by which that could happen would go a long way toward alleviating peoples concerns.
  7. I personally cannot stand high heels. My character pretty much exclusively wears sneakers and boots. Mostly sneakers.
  8. I'd like to find an alternative to Teqi's Lounge that also has a significant paywall. My apologies for the necro - I failed to notice the date of the last post.
  9. This is usually not a problem for me with some of the mesh socks I have. Some are not as well designed as others and do require alpha, but there are a few that are perfectly made. It's just frustrating to see, again and again, events where designers create these beautiful mesh stockings, with lace and frills and bows and garter belts and amazing craftsmanship - for high feet only.
  10. Well, I suspect the main reason there aren't any yet is that they wouldn't sell as well as the high foot versions. One designer told me as much - and also that she'd found it a huge pain to make them fit one foot configuration and had no interest in going back and doing it for flat feet. I totally get that. So, I'm not actually expecting anything to come out of this, but it was my last avenue of begging, lol
  11. Yeah, I've been scouring events and the marketplace for well over a year and it seems to be something most designers have no interest in doing. I'd even be willing to pay for a commission.
  12. Could, yes, but they aren't nearly as good or high quality as mesh ones.
  13. Designers! Consider this a plea. Please, please, please will someone create an array of beautiful mesh thigh high stockings that could be paired with garter belts for Maitreya flat feet? Not all of us constantly wear high heels or walk around on our tip-toes. Thanks!
  14. Update: Someone wonderful contacted me in-game and got me through the steep learning curve of the basics. There's still a ton of stuff to learn, but my search has shifted slightly. I am, more-or-less, able to move about and dress myself (haha). Now to start looking for a Master...
  15. Apologies! Yes, I am looking for a mentor for the end goal of BDSM adult rated activities. That said, I know learning basics is also an important aspect of that, but I'm posting here because I'd prefer someone willing to go from A to Z with me. My avatar is female, and she is submissive, but I'll need help with navigating the overwhelming selection of bodies shapes, animations, clothing, and other appearances. I am extremely hesitant to attempt to this all on my own because I suspect that if I dive in without knowing what I'm doing, I'll end up wasting money. Thanks for the response!
  16. Hello, I am about as new and green to Second Life as it gets. I have attempted to follow videos and guides to no avail and would like someone willing to be my mentor. Thanks! Pixie
