You know, without the viewer log, it is pretty much impossible to diagnose your issue; at best, people can do wild guesses and give generic advices (like with phone hot-lines silly/stupid question: ”did you plug your computer into the mains ?”)...

So, my one and only advice is: provide a viewer log, and since it is Firestorm-related, do it via their own support channel(s)...

    Thank you Henri,

The problem occurs equally on both firestorm and LL viewer.

Also I added the help log info from Firestorm thinking that would be enough. Where can I create a viewer log? And where to post it if the problem is not exclusively on Firestorm?

    Kind regards,

  2. I did a clean install. (this has reset the UI scale)

I logged in on several places to see if it was my location.

    I restarted router.

I set bandwidth to 1000 (though having it set to 1500 never gave me issues).

    None of this helped.

It actually got worse since yesterday.

I log enter, and freeze.. and if I can move it's for a few seconds.. not even half a minute.

Frustrating is the right word to describe what I feel atm..

Not sure what else I can do.. This problem exists only in Second life.. all other programs are working fine.

    Regards,....

    Edit:
I deactivated all my gestures as I once had a similar issue that was solved that way.
I also stopped and revoked all permissions in health
    Rebuilt the Firestorm bridge
    Did a character test

    no positive results... :(

These three aren't going to help. I do not think they'd account for such severe trouble as freezing or logging out, but they might slow things down. My avoidance of UI Scaling may just be my superstition, so take that with a grain of salt, but such a deep draw distance is going to make everything slower to render. Your machine is okay but doesn't have a lot of extra RAM, so I'd avoid forcing it to download and draw stuff a whole sim-width away (unless I was taking photos). Same with that RenderVolumeLODFactor of 4.0, a setting usually recommended to make cheap mesh look good at a distance, but also extend the distance at which even well-made mesh will appear as good as possible; makes sense for photos but it's going to hurt performance—especially with a deep draw distance.

(The good news: no packet loss. That pushes Network further down the list of possible troubles.)

Again, though, this is just reacting to the "About Firestorm" info and I don't think it explains the real troubles you're having. Depending on what "freezing" means (is it just temporarily "stuck", or completely frozen requiring a forced viewer close and re-login? or even a whole Mac reboot?), it could even be hardware.

Somebody else may have a better, more specific suggestion. It might help them to know the history (it used to work much better, right? and then started misbehaving? any specific changes you can remember from around the time things degraded?).

[ETA: If this were my machine, I'd first try some different viewer—whichever one that's easiest—so if the problem persists, it's not likely due to viewer settings (and hardware moves up a notch on that list of possible troubles).]

LOD is something that I change regularly. I 'm aware that 2k should be enough ... the same with my draw distance.. I always am aware of it and this measurement (248) was taking on my own sim where there are no people. Usually my draw distance is between 30 and 120 max (except when building).

the UI scaling... I had no idea that could cause issues. So I will experiment with that to see if it helps.

Additionally I did a restart of my computer. Including a plug out and wait for some minutes before plugging. back in. It did help some... for now.. I'll be back with an update...

    Thank you Qie!!!

is there anything in my "help about firestorm post" that could explain this?

    Kindest regards!

It's simple maths actually. 30 degrees is 1/12th of a full circle so the pathcut you need is 1/12th or 0.08333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333...

Note that this is the difference between the start and end values. If you only want a single slice, you set start to 0 and end to 1/12.

However, if you want a pie chart, it's easier to use consecutive numbers. That way the slices automatically align perfectly with each other. If for example you want several 30 degree slices, you set the pathcuts for the first to 0 and 1/2, then copy the end value and paste and add +1/12 for the end value of the second slice, paste the end value for the first as the start value for the second and so on.

Edit: This may be something not everybody are aware of but you can do simple maths - additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions - in the entry fields in the editing palette. This can be a very useful trick in many situations.

Ah I missed one logical step...

that's the 1/12 part in relation to the 1000 in Cut Path.

I just had to divide 1000 by 12. Duh... Thank you :)

    I don't know why you're mystifying this.

If you go on a sim that has a Shoutcast stream in operation, it grabs the IP addresses of listeners. If you can hear the music and have stream playing enabled, they have your IP. They can then ban it. To be sure, it's not linked to your avatar name, but they can look at time stamps and figure it out.

I suspect quite a few venues still use something like RedZone which wasn't really ever banned, let alone deprecated, even if the RL felon who wrangled it was banned.

I have everything disabled and I'm still banned on all alts

[The region ]is supposedly new.resident friendly so they should be able.to get in.

There's one security system that does use IP to ban alts.  Of course, as was.mentioned, they can only do so if media is turned on.  The system you are.talking about did the same but also made that information public.  This one does not.  They SAY they are ToS compliant and have been around for quite a few years.

I was banned at first sentence... which was not even harmful or offending....... but I'm okay with it.. it's their sim... their rules. I'm just a bit in shock that a sim like this would ban people this easily especially when it's LL approved in a way.

  8. I've been banned from a sim... while I hardly said a word... I contacted the owner and I did not get a respond. I then tried to go to their sim on an alt but I but I got a message I was not allowed... this means they are tracking my IP ..... thing is though.. .that they had no reason to ban me... (other than that it's the owner's rule to accept people or not)...

So I tried to go there on an alt... but even my alt was banned...... so... does this mean they tracked my IP address and is that even legal?

  9. I can turn and that's it. I can't move nor edit anything.

I've reset my router several times a day the last month (normally I do so each week).
I bought a new up to date cable, advised by my internet company.
Internet company did not detect any network errors.
I did a full clean reinstall (firestorm).
I live in a village that doesn't have a lot of residents.
Connection speed (up and download) + ping is excellent* (Speedtest)
*Though high ping from Belgium to SL server. Yet  I never experienced much freezing or being stuck before.

Am I overlooking something that I could check/do to prevent/solve the freezing/being stuck?
Is anyone else also experiencing more tech issues recently in SL?
