  1. Older post, but on a tight budget... I agree with Nalates CPU is too weak & I assume you are on a tight budget. for those on a real tight budget here is a thought: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Optiplex-980-SFF-Desktop/dp/B01L7UBBJU/ref=sr_1_7?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486186754&sr=1-7&keywords=desktop+computer&refinements=p_36%3A2421880011 Need a low profile graphics card: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Computer-Graphics-Cards-N750TI-2GD5TLP/dp/B00SOXMPJY/ref=sr_1_1?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486187043&sr=1-1&keywords=low+profile+gtx+750&refinements=p_6%3AATVPDKIKX0DER You'd need an USB keyboard & USB mouse...tower is recertified...hard drive is not the fastest... 2. Older thread, BUT W/10 topic: I just days ago tested latest Singularity & Firestorm Windows x64 viewers on my sole W/10 Home x64 build 1607 & had no issues & both ran smoothy. The Firestorm viewer was slower, & used up system RAM (8GB) faster than the latest Singularity (build 6915) x64 viewer during prolonged SL logins. For those of you who use W/10 Home x64 here are a few tested SL tips: A- W/10 power plan is set by default to "balanced" & you need to change it to "high performance" In the Cortana search text box type"power plan"...under advanced option select "high performance" B- There are services you can diasble that will speed up W/10 Home x64 & SL too. In the Cortana search text box type: services...click on "services desktop app"...a services window opens..one by one double click on the services I list below...a smaller window appears..to the right of "startup type" click the down arrow..select "disable"...click "Apply"...click "OK" You must re-boot your pc after disabling them. I am assuming you have no need for Xbox, nor Fax: (3) Xbox services ALL Hyper-V services Microsoft SNS router service Fax service dmwappushsvc (3) Sensor services Connected User Experiences & Telemetry In addition, by disabling them it severely hinders Micro$oft from "data mining" your personal info. Yes, I do Windows too. "I Love Simplicity"
  3. An older post, BUT still will help those with this HP computer & or residents with the smaller micro cases. First off it has a *mini* ATX size power supply @ only 180 watts max, so before thinking of adding a dedicated graphics card (GPU) you'll need to replace it with a higher wattage/amperage unit. I like this one; since it comes with an adapter bracket so as to fit up a reg. ATX case too for future case changes. https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Toughpower-Warranty-Modular-PS-STP-0450FPCGUS-G/dp/B01KGD46VE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486180365&sr=8-1&keywords=thermaltake+micros+450w Since you are saying you use it for SL and not mentioning pc gaming go with the 2GB DDR5 version: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pny-xlr8-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050-2gb-gddr5-pci-express-3-0-graphics-card-black/5711723.p?skuId=5711723 If you were to use SL AND pc game it: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-ZT-P10600B-10M-Dual-Fan-IceStorm/dp/B01I5O5AP2/ref=sr_1_5?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486180937&sr=1-5&keywords=gtx+1060&refinements=p_6%3AATVPDKIKX0DER Keep in mind NONE of the Nvidia GTX 1XXX GPUs support analog signal, so a VGA adapter will not work! Notice I never recommend Newegg.com? They are a great e-retailer to buy from, UNLESS you run into a DOA, defective product, or especially if you require a prompt refund. I can tell you that BestBuy & Amazon have always resolved any issues I have had within 48 hours to my satisfaction. Amazon even gave me a refund within 24 hours, which was posted back into my account within 48 hours. Here is "egg" in your eye. "I Love Simplicity"
  4. All need to check out my detailed reply/answer to the Forum post "Community Support" where is it? Your Linux distro is a Debian version , so how I explain to open a viewer will work for you too. "I Love Simplicity"
  5. Check out my detailed answer to the Forum post: "Community Support" where is it? Ubuntu & Linux Mint are both Debian Linux distros. "I Love SImplicity"
  6. Old thread, BUT W/10 question: I recently tested both Firestorm & Singularity (2017) W/10 x64 viewers. The Singularity viewer is faster, uses a little less RAM (prolonged SL logins) & uses less hard drive space. Some of you using W/10 Home x64 might want to sift through some of my other posted answers where I share info on how to speed up SL & W/10. Singularity Build 6915: http://alpha.singularityviewer.org/alpha/ I have W/10 Home x64 on one pc on my home network, so I can stay current on W/10 tech. "I Love Simplicity"
  7. You whine alot here..like some cheese ?? Excuse me I am about to go answer some more Forum issues. FYI according to a Linden rep she/he stated its a "rank" LOL why don't you im the rep & correct him/her. I assume this where you think you pull more personal info out of me? Thank you for the congrats! Personally I could care less what my "rank" is here. I about helping residents. "Live long & prosper" "I Love Simplicity"
  8. Older post, BUT current Debian Linux distro all you need is to install some 32 bit libraries & your audio, ect will be resolved. In addition, you'll be able to run ANY current viewer even SL' s 32 bit viewer on your x64 distro ( tested it for grins) Go to the Forum post: "Community Support" where is it?? I give a detailed answer there along with the 32 libs too. "I Love Simplicity"
  9. I'd like to thank the SL Singularity viewer group for the help! Yes, they have a Linux x64 & Windows bento compatible viewers out: Windows Build 6915 http://alpha.singularityviewer.org/alpha/ Linux x64 Singularity 1 8 7 6915 x86 64.tar.xz http://67.170.30.149/ I have tested them both & they work well! "I Love SImplicity"
  10. I am flattered..you do not even know me...you spatters, or is spitters?? kill me...feed on attention like a meth junkie does on crank..please I can not take anymore..you are boring me to death...no real life huh..please keep posting sure someone is getting amusement out of your spatting, or spitting? I guess it is a difficult pill to swallow when someone comes along & posts answers that really work; instead of just copy n pasting TOS....etc great example of why THOUSANDS left SL took their real life walletes & purses with them...not to "go to another cafe, there is no other cafe in town..they chose to do without"...like real life where did they go?...IMVU...no....Moove...no...big old clap for ppl just like you & other spatters..."greaaat job" i am not interested try match.com, etc Yawwnzz "I Love Simplicity"....I laugh at yours P.S. still say you'd make a good Forum moderator even ya hate men
  11. Great question! kind of an old thread.... I just recently tested the latest (2017) Singularity & Firestorm viewers on W/10 Home x64 & latest Debian Linux x64 distros too. Based upon my testings this is what I'd advise: A- A 64 bit operating system (software I know, but I thought I'd toss this in) since it use lots of RAM unlke a 32 bit Windows OS that can only use up to approx. 3.25 GB RAM B- At least 10-12GB system RAM (make sure your motherboard will hold it & has at least *2 system fan headers) C- Use a Nvidia graphics card for the least amount of issues bare min. GT 740 128 bit although I'd use a GTX 750/750ti/GTX 1050ti on a budget build.... any GPU with over 2GB DDR5 memory is overkill *solely* for SL use D- IF I were on a tight budget an Intel i3 with hyperthreading; however a quadcore CPU will work better E- A SSD (solid state drive) PNY makes good/affordable SSDs F- IF you plan on spending long sessions in SL do not cheap out on the power supply . EVGA, Thermaltake & some Antecs are your best bet. Outer vision, an online power supply calculator can help you figure out the wattage/amperage power supply requirememts of your system. Use a psu with a single +12v rail for better system stability. G- Pick a pc case with good ventilation one that will use a 120mm rear exhaust case fan. & at least one front mount for a 120mm case fan H- Liquid cool your processor if you login SL for hours at a time... prevent your CPU for overheating-losing performance....Corsair makes great CPU liquid cooling systems "I Love Simplicity"
  12. We are not all the same here... may the Force be with you Phil
  13. Older thread, BUT good question even on Secondlife's site it is posted satellite Internet won't work. A- Satellite ISPs have a download limit, which SL will use up quickly. After you exceed your download cap you are either reduced to dialup speed for a period of time, or even cut off for an extended period of time til you buy more bandwidth. B- Satellite ISPs have a HUGE ping (lag) of approx. 900ms - 1400ms you see that satellite dish has to communicate with a satellite orbiting the Earth, so there is massive lag. C- I have only 5MB download speed & it runs SL well, BUT it is not satellite D- Seek other options IF there are any in your area "I Love Simplicity"
  14. IF you are using Ubuntu 14.04 x64, Ubuntu 16.04 x64 or Linux Mint 18 Sarah x64 & wish to use the latest Secondlife - Linux viewer please check out my detailed answer to the Forum post: "Community Support" where is it? "I Love Simplicity"
  15. I assume you are using the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 16.04? You'll need to install some 32 bit libraries. If you'll check out my answer (detailed) on the post in this Forum, "Community Support" where is it? Your audio issue will be solved! IF you need further help feel free to contact me via this Forum. "I Love Simplicity"
  16. An older tread, BUT common issue, so lets dive in: A- Need a 64 bit OS (operating system) since a Windows 32 bit OS can only really use up to approx. 3.25 GB RAM B- Need a motherboard that will hold at least 10-12GB RAM (current findings based on recent (2017) third party viewer testing/prolonged SL sessions) C- GPU is too weak & for least amount of issues go with a Nvidia graphics card...bare min. GT 740 128 bit 1GB DDR5, although I prefer as a min. Nvidia GTX 750/750ti D- LOL I have a neighbor/SL resident using a 3rd generation (LGA 1155) Intel G1620 dual core Celeron @ 2.7GHz & it runs SL fairly well., so your CPU would work Above listed advisements are based on my current (2017) 3rd party viewer testings & my neighbor's custom built pc-desktop. FYI he uses a Nvidia GT 740 128 bit DDR5 1GB , W/10 Home x64 & 10GB RAM "I Love Simplicity"
  17. I have only one pc on my home network running W/10 Home x64, AMD CPU, AMD GPU & after testing the latest (2017) Singularity/Firestorm viewers I had no issues; except far more system RAM usage; especially on the latest Firestorm viewer. Maybe there is a reason why I use Linux x64 for SL? I do not have the answer for your issue. You might try uninstalling your current Nvidia driver...re-boot your pc...let WIndows install a Nvidia driver via Windows update process & then re-boot your pc. Linux is a little harder to initially setup, but its faster than Windows for SL use & I have not really had any issues. I hope you get the answer you need. I can tell you that you need to consider upping your system RAM to a min. of 10-12GB IF your motherboard will hold it. Good luck! FYI IF I were to use W/10 Home x64 for SL I'd be using the latest Singularity (2017) viewer: Build 6915 http://alpha.singularityviewer.org/alpha/ "I Love Simplicity"
  18. LOL @ over-optimistic as for any Nvidia issues I have not had a one, of course for SL I use Linux/Singularity viewer...I wonder why? 0-o I have never tried Intel HD graphics in SL; due to the fact I always use a dedicated graphics card. I do know SL is lag compatible "I Love Simplicity"
  19. You took it wrong, I was paying you a compliment! You could be a moderator. I do not care about my Forum status I am here to help people that is it.. I was not insulting you by calling you Miss "member" I was acknowledging your gender/Forum status. I am not here to insult people, name call etc. I am here to share what I know works *in SL. In addition, I have learnt things from reading posts in this Forum too! You are entitled to your opinions..we are all. You have the right to dislike me. LOL @ Constitutional rights complainers. I hope you have a great day. "I Love Simplicity"
  20. I can say the current SL system requirements are not the best guide to use. After recently testing the latest Firestorm & Singualrity Windows & Linux x64 viewers (Builds 6915) for prolonged sessions in SL with resolutions set @ 1280x720p I'd strongle recommend @ least 10GB system RAM; although 12GB would be better. Furthermore, I do have a neighbor/SL resident who built his desktop using a 3rd generation Intel LGA 1155 G1620 dual core Celeron @ 2.7GHz , approx. 10GB RAM, An Evga 430 watt power supply & a MSI Nvidia GT 740 2GB DDR5 128 bit LOL it uses little electricity, W/10 Home x64; yet it runs SL surpisingly well for what it is too. Here are a few options one migh consider: Intel i3 6100 with hyperthreading--10-12 GB RAM--PNY SSD-- along with thie recently released PNY XLR8 GTX 1050 it is overclocked, 6pin PCI-E connection & 4GB DDR5 memory. None of the current Nvidia GTX 1XXX cards use an analog signal, so a VGA adapter will not work. Its a little overkill for SL, but @ current price quite a bargain!! https://www.amazon.com/PNY-GeForce-Gaming-Graphics OR AMD budget build: AMD FX-4300--10-12 GB RAM--PNY SSD-- EVGA GTX 1050--great price currently on the AMD FX-4300 & graphics card: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-4-Core-Black-FX-4300-FD (approx.$74.99 for non Prime members) https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-Support An Intel i5 will run SL well too. As many have posted in this Forum your GPU (graphics card) & your Internet connection play a big part in how well your pc will run SL. W/10 Home x64, or Linux? IF you have above normal tech skills Linux currently will run SL faster. I like SL to run fast as possible within my budget. Always make sure you use a *quality power supply. FYI walmart.com is now offering FREE 2 day shipping on a purchase over $35.00 & they do sell pc components! I know an older thread, but still a frequently asked question "I Love Simplicity"
  21. Thank you I like this Forum. Here is a point some are missing. I am not being paid to share tech tips here & I am not here to stroke my ego. Every person I help here can log into SL hopefully to help support it. IF I step on toes here, it is because I have "tested" what works in SL & I see inaccurate posts that cause residents to spend more money than he/she needs, or answers posted I know will not work!. I care. Over the years I have had great times in SL...this is my way of giving back. "I Love Simplicity"
  22. FYI those "episodes" were not experienced by me. Have you ever read the THOUSANDS of online complaints by former SL residents??? I have. This is not my SL id I use in SL, so I find it amusing you think you know soo much about me. My neighbor-SL resident was NOT in an "escort" sim. Apparently this "escort" was buddies with the either sim owner or empowered buddy of the sim owner. ALL it takes to get banned..read about online..i have! As many hits as I get in this Forum apparently I am helping several people & I am not here to stroke my ego. I am here because I want to help others. That's it. I am no pc Guru: Former EggXpert review team member (have to be chosen) WalMart Spark review program (have to be chosen) I have had pc component manufacturer's send me components for review (have to be chosen) As an older gentleman I have been online reviewing for over 15 years & my real id is _______ I am old enough to see what you are attemtping to do & its counter productive to this Forum. Here is a thought go answer some questions since this is a SL Forum Miss "member." Who knows one day you might be a "moderator" here IF put forth the effort; instead of attempting to get me to "get myself banned"..not happening "I Love Simplicity"
  23. And for those with a "BLANK" profile gaze into a crystal ball right? OF the ones who neglect to put they are an "escort" etc in their profile use my ESP?. I assume sooner or later you hope you get me banned from this Forum right? I say let's "stay on topic" Afterall you are a Forum "member" & should be setting an example for this Forum.
