    Let me try again.

Thank you for your condescension, I should have known you’d take my participation in your thread with a genuine query, as a personal attack.

Although I don’t doubt that the parcels you’ve spotted have had their claim dates revised in preparation, the case shown by Lloyd’s post would indicate that it is not always the case, and it could happen at any time with any date shown.

And with that, I’m done. Have a nice day.

I think you need to start right-clicking on the abandoned land you see, and note what its claim date is. And perhaps you'll be persuaded then when you start seeing Governor Linden's claim dates all over the place now as "July" or "August" 2021 -- because they are being wrapped up for auction. Even after you see 100 of these, likely you will not be persuaded about a point that seems to involve criticism of the Lab, but that's fine, pretty soon I won't have to keep explaining this.

Interesting question and my impression was that yes auctions are happening much quicker. I accidentially found a live example in Yongchon in north east Jeogeot. Still yellow on the world map but already in the auction queue.

I’ve often found the claim date on Governor Linden owned land to be inaccurate. The case above shown by @Lloyd Overland looks most odd. The map clearly shows that the parcel had been up for sale at a very hopeful price by the original owner and then abandoned when the next tier was probably due (why on Earth they didn’t scale down the price as that date approached is beyond me). But rather than showing a claim date of that day, it shows as May 10. I have seen others in the past that have had a 2005 date which I have known to also be inaccurate.

I have a tiny mainland parcel in Sansara which has a lovely view courtesy of a large tract of abandoned land. I shall be watching to see what happens with that land with great interest, because if it goes, resulting in the loss of view, then my parcel will surely follow suit.

They did say that but that leaves me mystified as to why locate the new area so close to existing land, it's not like they don't have a lot of the grid to play with. My hope is that they have changed the plan to having one or two connesctions with existing land so we could see the new land over the void water and maybe sail/fly in at a couple of locations. I get that they need to retain the fantsay immersion so maybe it's just so close on the map to let us know it's there 🤨

Although I really liked the idea of it being self contained, I do think the prospect of two points of contact to be able to travel to it is a good one.

Connection or not, it HAD to be placed close to Bellisseria in order to be a part of it. With Zindra (the adult continent) so far away from the rest of the mainland and Linden Homes, it really is easy to forget it’s there, and I’ve often noticed a ‘them and us’ mentality in posts relating to it from residents of both sides. That’s really not something that I’d like to see for Bellisseria. :)

Looking at the map there is an awful lot of water, albeit small waterways, but it's way more than I expected. I wonder what's happening up at SSPE2539 - no home there and it doesn't look like it's and edge they will add onto (whereas the others are all unfinished edges - they've said their method is to build outwards, adding the edge regions last, like they're doing with the stil areas).

    Fantasy.jpg.d927990966f4adcef406c8fc1bfdf62d.jpg

Now that the map has updated some more over the fantasy homes it seems that another water edge has appeared at Barneys Fief which COULD perhaps be a tell-tale for a link to @Lloyd Overland's favourite fantasy region lookout spot, Hanshin.

Could SSPE2539 and Barneys Fief be the 'portals' in and out of the new region perhaps?

Here are a few things that may relate to GlimmerBelle's initial connection to Belli.

    THING 1 ---------------------------------------------

We all think of a "portal" like a stargate, that one person goes through at a time.  But, a "portal of sorts"?

    THING 2 -----------------------------------------------

Patch is a tricksy kinda guy.  😁

    THING 3 ------------------------------------------------

LL could drop a single region in to connect Hanshin to Barney's Fief (someone is an Andy Griffith fan!),  Then GlimmerBelle would be connected to Jeogeot, which is connected to Belli, and voila.

    A portal of sorts?

Thanks for highlighting those points Nika :)

I love that Bellisseria is such a big part of the connection of the continents, and initially when the portal situation was first mooted I wasn't sure whether to consider it a bad thing or not. But having given it a great deal of thought, and walked through the Fantasy demo area I've come to accept the idea of its containment as good idea. So much so in fact, that I've packed my boxes and moved out of my camper in preparation to settle in a new Fantasy home. I still have my Houseboat and Victorian on my alt and original av respectively, so can still enjoy travelling around, but I'm hoping that there won't be any posts from people wanting an airport in the Fantasy area so they can land their 747 :P

In time there will be a water connection most likely. At full draw distance at the closest point I can't see anything yet. Hopefully we will be able to access the sub continent in the days/weeks ahead.

It's amazing how much empty space there is for upcoming Linden Home themes. Maybe a place where the old Linden Home continents can be moved to with further expansion.

I thought the Fantasy area was not going to be joined to the rest of Bellisseria? If it doesn’t connect, you’ll not be able to look into it.

What is a reasonable price for a waterfront parcel on or near Blake Sea? (in L$ per m² obviously)

I'm aware some people list their parcels for sale for a long period at an extortionate amount in the hope that they get lucky. This makes it somewhat difficult to tell what is a reasonable price. By reasonable, I mean a price for a parcel that wouldn't be too difficult to resell and at least break-even in the not too distant future.

Appreciate it is subjective to some degree and obviously they're worth whatever people are willing to pay but it would be good to get some kind of perspective into what people would actually pay. For example, there is one parcel near Blake Sea that is not even a full sized sim, yet being advertised at more than $8000US!! When I asked the seller what price he was willing to drop down to, he was quite blunt and rude, so I never bothered replying to him! Surely not worth $8000 USD?!

For reference, this is the parcel in question:
    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Meddledown/105/164/25

    Cheers

    Ex

Looking around the area you mention there's a slightly smaller parcel for sale at a little less L$/sqm, a few regions north of the one you mention. Looking at smaller parcels though, the L$/sqm rate increases drastically it seems. There's no way to know whether you'd be able to resell a parcel at a later date and cover your initial investment, and the amounts concerned really are too high to make one want to speculate. I really would advise you to look at renting. There are several estates in and around the Blake Sea, and some mainland water access parcels that are perfectly reasonable.

If you have your heart set on owning, then I'd suggest watching parcels to see if they sell, although you're not going to know how much they actually sold for. Look out for purple overlay on the map, as these are auctions. You'll see the sort of prices people pay on those as they stay on the auction page a couple of weeks after selling. It's rare to see auctions in the area you want though, but having said that, there was a cluster recently which has added to the available rentals. Overall though, I think you're in for disappointment :(

    $900,000L is over $3,700 USD

Holy moly. Do these make a ton of money back if they are rented out over a period of time or something?

A parcel being set for sale at a certain price is no guarantee that it will sell for that. A parcel is only ever worth what another person will pay for it. As I mentioned previously, the double-prim parcels (and others in certain locations) get set for sale at a ridiculously high price in some cases, purely to get it highlighted on the map so that people find it and MAY then rent it. The owner doesn't want to set it at the market value in case someone buys it, and so it's set high to prevent that, or to give them a massive amount of compensation if someone does buy it.

Haven't been around here in a few months.

Yesterday I tossed back 3 of my 4 linden homes, and took 2 accounts to basic (the third will go basic soon, but I was a little slow in doing this so it's still premium for the next quarter). This all left me an odd tier round off again, so I went looking around the map at parcels to see if I wanted to grab something.

In so doing I noticed the prices in Zindra seem about double what they were last year, and in Horizons (north of Zindra), 3-5 times higher. Looking around mainland, I noticed the same thing could be said of Bay City and the two themed areas near it. A brief glance around other parts of mainland and it seems like any land that is by water or road is much higher than it was last year, and even bad land appears to be trending up.

Did something happen? Has the pandemic resulted in a lot more buyers? Or is this just wishful thinking on the part of land traders? Or am I seeing something that isn't there and I just need to look elsewhere to see that SL land is still 'dirt cheap'?

I don't think that land generally has increased at all in price. I've seen quite a few areas on various continents where land has been for sale for a while, and at reasonable rates, but not shifting. Certainly the 'double prim' regions have retained their popularity, and have been creeping upwards in price. So often though they're set for sale merely as a tool to attract rental business and so set at a higher than market price.

I'd suggest having a look at the auctions and seeing what sort of prices parcels have been actually selling for on there. You can get a better idea of prices from actual sales rather than the ones for sale, as they can stay for sale for quite some time if the seller has over priced it.

if this is correct then it appears that there is currently more tier contributed than needs to be for the total land size

    the group bonus formula for 16,752 sqm is: 16752 * 0.9091 = 15,230 tier

your current tier contribution is 6,015

    16,754 - 6,015 = 10,739 tier contributed by other group members

the group needs 15,230 to maintain the current land

    15,230 - 10,739 = 4,491 tiers

so you can reduce your contribution to 5120m (1024 premium + 4096 month) and not have to reduce the land size

with this you can actually increase the land size while also reducing your tier contribution

    10,739 + 5,120 =  15,859

    15,859 + 10% = 17,440 sqm

    17,440 - 16,752 = 688

so can reduce your contribution down to 5,120 and add 688 sqm to your group. Assuming the total land and total contribution is correct

I was wondering how you got to the figure you did  @Mollymews, it seems you used the contribution plus group bonus instead of the total contribution minus group bonus, so your figures marked in red on the quote above should be:

    15,230 - 6,015 = 9,215 tier contributed by other group members

    15,230 - 9,215 = 6,015 tier

    Reduce contribution to 5,120 (1024 prem + 4096 tier)

    9,215 + 5,120 = 14,335

    14,335 + 10% = 15,768 sqm

    15,768 - 16,752 = -984

40 minutes ago, Qie Niangao said:

the group's "Total contribution" would be reduced, leaving it at 15,769. That means the most actual land in 16m² units the group will be able to own will become 15,760m². Because the group currently owns 16,752 it will need to shed 992 m² actual land area, assuming nobody else changes their group contribution.

Okay Thanks! so Mole area counts as parcel, i get that. Never had a parcel where i have heard any birds or anything on tho. Depends on area i guess 🙏 The last thunderstorm I muted was evenly spread over ground so it took a while 🤯

If you're not getting any sounds from off your parcel that you enjoy, then it really is much easier to hit the 'restrict sounds' tick box in your about land window, especially if as you mentioned, there is a lot of noisy stuff to find and mute from your neighbours. As I mentioned above, restricting sounds work both ways... If you tick the box on your parcel it keeps your sounds in, but also keeps your neighbours sounds out.

I have wondered a lot about why the box we can check in about land regarding ”sound ”restricted to this parcel”. Why isnt that box checked by default? Iv have had problems several times with neighbours that have thunderstorms, music and other stuff all over the place. Im sure most of them is not even aware of that click box. At least in LH areas where a lot new players might start?

Restricting the sounds works both ways, your noisy barking dog won’t disturb the neighbours, but as @Eowyn Southmoor pointed out, you also won’t then be able to hear all the lovely ambient sounds that the moles have placed in the community area to enhance the region. It is better to have the choice to restrict it if you feel it is necessary. I use it on mainland sometimes (particularly when in close quarters with neighbours and I don’t want my loud ticking clock to irritate them), but for Bellisseria, if a neighbour has something that irks me, I’d sooner just mute the object concerned, and keep my own ticking clock quieter.

  15. There’s something to be said for simpler regulated landscape. I’m not a lover of crowds and activities, but I do love land and exploring it. I’ve not been to the old LH in quite some time, mainland and Bellisseria meet most of my needs more than adequately, but I still feel I’m missing… something.

Time to wake an alt, dress simply and take a stroll or ride around. :)

The account gets locked approx. a month after going delinquent and if the money is not paid after  roughly 6 months, the account is deleted.

My mother came on to SL for a few years.  She got sick and stopped coming on.  She never downgraded her Premium membership or renewed her payment method expiration date.  Shortly after her payment came due and wouldn't charge because of the expired card, her account was locked (roughly 30 days after original payment was due, I think).  She ignored the emails as she was still sickly and didn't care about SL anymore.  Approx. 6 months later her account was deleted -- proven by the fact that when I try to pull up her web profile, I now get "That name is unavailable".   It was somewhere between 1 & 3 months (if I remember correctly) that her tier donation disappeared from my land group.

    Absolutely terrifying!

[What if I] forget to pay [or can't pay within 30 days]?"

You won't just loose your land -- YOU'LL LOOSE YOUR ACCOUNT.  None of the money you've spent on furniture, clothes, or anything else will be refunded.  If you open a new account, you'll have to buy all this stuff all over again, or do without it.  Others have mentioned calling Linden Labs to see if you can work something out.  I don't know if that can be done or if the account deletion is automatic.  Either way, if you get into a situation like that, it's best to contact Linden Labs before the account is deleted, not after.

Goodness! I’ve never heard of this happening… could you cite the source please Rabid? I have known of instances where a person has been locked out of their account for defaulting on land payment, but never deletion.

Hello im still fairly new to the game and i apologize in advance if this has been asked already but i submitted a ticket and they must be either very busy or simply ignoring either way I just bought more land to expand the land i own on the mainland (i was lucky enough that the land was right next to my already owned land and i can join it together, once i figure out how to do this) :D the questions i have are when do i start getting billed for this? i know "rent" will be due every month as now that i'm well over my premium of allotted land i gotta pay after expanding but i am wondering how the billing works does it come right out of my registered saved card on here like auto-pay? and if so is there a way to shut that off and just pay whenever i get the chance before bill is due of course also can i just pay in advance?? maybe a few months or is it possible to pay out a whole year kinda like when i got premium im also scared of what would happened if i were to be late on a payment? or forget to pay?? would there be a penalty like extra fees?? or worse could i lose my land be "locked-out" if anyone has some answers for me id really appreciate it!! thanks

If you look at your Account - Account summary page you will be able to see when your payments are due. You will see your premium a/c subscription renewal date at the top, the middle part details your L$ balance and your US$ balance, and then the bottom shows details of your land holdings. The ‘peak square meter usage’ figure shows the level you will be charged at for the month and the bottom ‘next bill date’ will show when the payment will be taken. This day is the same every month and the day is established when you first buy land in excess of your initial 1024sqm allowance from your premium benefit. If you bought the extra land on the 20th, then you will be billed on the 20th of the following month.

Be aware, if you ever buy any land that puts you into the next tier bracket, even if you only own that extra amount for even just a minute, you will be charged at the higher rate at the next bill date. You can set a radio button in the Land Manager - Land Use Fees page as to the maximum amount you would wish to hold, and then if you ever try to buy over that amount you will receive a warning that you will incur higher fees when you try to do so. If you set the button for a higher level than you currently hold you only get charged for the amount you ACTUALLY hold in that month’s period.

I have never loaded money onto my US$ balance, and have always just had the monthly amount deducted from my chosen payment method on the due date each month. That date becomes ingrained in your mind, especially if your land holding level fluctuates from time to time. When considering buying land, especially if it would put my tier up, if there are only a few days before the bill is due, I’ll wait until after the payment has been made in order to save some money on that current cycle, and happily pay the higher amount for having it an entire month on the next cycle.

The entire Kayaboshi sim, except for the Linden road that runs through the middle of it, is for sale. It is a single parcel. Haw can noncontiguous land be in a parcel?

If you have a parcel any size, you can select an area in edit terrain and then select to divide the parcel. The area selected then becomes a separate parcel from the rest. If the area you selected ran right through the middle, from end to end of the original area, then the remaining parcel will be split in two and the parts look separate from each other, but still be the same parcel.

I would think that with the region you mention the roadway was selected (if it’s an irregular shape it would have been carved out in stages and reassembled) and then the parcel that is left on either side of the road was never divided further.
