  1. All those gifts at the current round of Man Cave are definitely good for an outfit or two
  2. Nice picture. I like how some people create things that are only useful for taking images, like that wrap being blown away by the wind... Or you could just imagine you always have a wind machine with you. That's so Eurovision Song Contest! I was there indeed
  3. Going for that smart casual look with my monthly blog post in which I try to find clothing for the NX-Nardcotix mesh body, which is not widely supported so one has to "make do".
  4. Although I think there are already so many "tutorial" type of blog posts out their, reading this is giving me inspiration to maybe start a series (I do several series within my blog) that goes a bit more into detail about putting together the looks. Working title: Getting your sh*t together.
  5. Trying to use the old system layers on BOM mesh body parts often doesn't work out very well, but if you use a BOM skin that has been created more recently, there is no loss of quality at all and it has some advantages. With appliers you always have to figure out on which layer you can apply something without knocking off something else. Say you want a tattoo, freckles and chest hair. That can work with appliers, but with BOM layers it's easier. You just add all the layers to your outfit and then you can easily change the order so they appear how you want them to (hair over tattoo over freckles for example). I'm going to shamelessly plug my blog here: www.billybeaverhausen.com Don't expect A to Z advice on how to put together a male avatar, but I do put together different looks all the time, so maybe it's good for some inspiration. Don't visit it if you're easily offended by the bit of NSFW nudity or have some (latent) homophobic tendencies (hey, pobody's nerfect!)
  6. The creator call this their Vintage Spring outfit, but to me it just shouts summer.
  7. Time for my monthly fun with the NX-Nardcotix David mesh body
  8. For my latest blog post and the one that will follow it up, I've focusing (not obsessing! focusing!) on short shorts. You know, the kind of shorts that are just a wee bit too short for comfort for a guy to safely walking around it without causing heart palpitations and commotion.
  9. Most of the time my avatars turn out to be 20-something. I don't really plan these things, because there's already more than enough briefings going on in real life. In Second Life I just take a free flow approach to the process of creating a look. This time I managed to create a slightly more mature look. Maybe he's in his 30's?
  10. Wasted no time with that new head and dived straight into the deep end with a second look
  11. I got a new mesh head recently and went for a square-jawded all American boy with a slight 80's vibe (the hair)
  12. I've updated an old look again. That's an exercise I always enjoy. It's also a good way to get reacquainted with a brand you've lost sight of (in this case for the hair)
  13. As I don't see my avatar as an extension of myself, but simply a virtual shape shifter I love to style, I feel comfortable slipping into other ethnicities and thus hopefully show some variety on my blog. This is one of the black looks I recently did. You'll find all the credits in the link underneath the image in Flickr.
  14. Glamping and a vintage look go together like... Two things that go well together.
  15. Thanks. It's always nice to be appreciated. It's not like in real life, where if you go to the gym you get a health benefit (as long as you don't drop a dumbell on your foot or slip on your sweat on the treadmill and fall face down on the contraption while it's still going). Working on ourselves in SL only has the aesthetically pleasing benefits of self-improvement. Although, I do find the tinkering rather therapeutic.
  16. The answer to the question "how does your avatar look today" is a tricky one. I've been tweaking shapes to better work with the latest updated of the Akeruka M01 mesh head, so I've been quite the chameleon the past couple of days.
  17. It was time for another fairy day AND an easter look. Just add bunny ears to anything and a pop of bright colour and basically you've got that down.
  18. Here we are again with a look for one of the underdogs of the male mesh bodies, just to keep things interesting. I'd get bored if I only played with the popular ones. It's slightly more of a thrill to find a pair of shorts that fit if they haven't been made for the body you're using. Makes you feel like the cat that got the cream.
  19. I went with the Niramyth Aesthetic mesh body today. Not my favourite, but it still is popular with a loyal group and I'm all for diversity. I know that rigging clothes for all these different mesh bodies is a pain in the lower back for creators, but SL would be a lot more boring with only one (male) mesh body, in my opinion. Many people with this body will make the shape very bulky, but I prefer to keep it a bit more modest.
  20. I've been indulging in some virtual beach therapy lately. I wonder if that would be more effective with VR goggles, but that's probably a discussion for another place in the forum. Here's one of my beach looks.
  21. I've used this skin before with much more European/Western looking results. This time on this particular head the Asian features are more visible. Isn't just magical how you can keep getting different looks just by combining different skins with different mesh heads and playing with the shape. Seriously, if I was kid right now, a Ken doll would need at least 20 heads to be able to compete with SL.
  22. My monthly styling sessions with the NX-Nardcotix David mesh body have become yet another marker of just how fast a month goes by. Only in hindsight though. Why is it that while you're in the middle of moment, it can seem to drag on forever, but once it's in the rear view mirror, it seems like it was secretly on fast-forward all along?
  23. Does anyone else get a kick out of sprucing up an old look?
  24. In my neck of the woods we're experiencing a bit of "real" winter but that won't stop me from strutting around in a pair of swimming briefs (a.k.a. budgie smugglers) in Second Life. After all, there are more beaches in this virtual world than we know what to do with.
