I spend much of last night having a last stroll around at the Holiday Shop & Hop event before it closed down. Of course I just simply had to put together a quasi daring snazzy outfit first. Deuh!

So often this kind of knitwear is being referred to as an "ugly" Christmas sweater in Second Life. I haven't lost my sense of humor and I can see the irony/joke, but it's a bit denigrating towards the craft that goes into making a Nordic sweater, no?

It's interesting to see that a body that hasn't received any updates in several years (last communication on the subject of updates from the creator was round Christmas 22) still has a loyal user base today. Maybe it's because the very detailed carved out muscles, attracting a fan base that's really into it? I only recently started plonking a Lelutka head on it to see what that gives. It probably never will be my favourite, but I like to challenge myself and push past my own preferences with the looks I create.

Stockholm received a ridiculous amount of snow in one weekend and for a short while everything looked very pretty. Since then, thanks to rain and milder temperatures, it's all been washed away again and now it's just cold, dark and wet. Sure we can make it cozy and Christmassy indoors both in real life and Second Life, but I'm thankful that not all sims switch to a winter theme and I can realistically hang out in my speedos with this new look.

I got a new jacket that really took my back to my youth, when I'd wear this type of jacked and it would have a pocket sewn into in such a way that you turn it inside out and stuff the entire jacket in it and then there was an elasticated band so you could wear it round your waist when it wasn't raining. Does anybody else get flashbacks to real life memories while they're in Second Life?

I created a slightly leaner shape than what I'm used to and with the tash and soul patch, I feel this look lightly channels Errol Flynn. I never set out to create a very particular look, because in my opinion, going for anything very particular in SL is stetting yourself up for a lot of frustration and it limits your creativity.

I've been playing with the Classic mesh body in combination with Lelutka EvoX mesh heads for a bit, because a friend asked for some guidance and it's easier to just put a blog together about it instead of trying to explain it all in chat (I can't get voice to work on my laptop anymore for some reason). Anyhoo, isn't it fun how easily you can get from the beach to winter wonderland and back again in SL!

Yesterday's look isn't quite today's fish 'n ships wrapping paper yet (and they don't wrap those in newspaper anymore anywhere anyway no way no how, thank you very much). It was the result of a blogpost on some budget friendly blog post, a topic I occasionally focus on. The body is free, the head is an older model but still serviceable (bento and bom enabled), tattoos are easy to find in hunts, the hair is a gift, the suit glasses and shoes are freebies (old ones, but they've aged reasonably well), the somewhat gothic looking short hoodie and trousers with straps are just L$1 each and the santa sweatpants are group gift. I stayed bellow L$4,000, which seems a reasonable budget for people who are in that phase of being ready to spend a bit of money in SL. Comments and feedback are welcome. Full deets are on my blog.

I just thought there was something "sci-fi" about that latex singlet and crop top, so I went and found myself a colourful ray gun. Don't worry, it's set to stun... Like this look 😛

The Belleza Jake mesh body was updated recently, which has greatly improved the chances of having a seamless neck with certain mesh heads. I did a little tutorial, using only the skins, addons and shape that come with the body and I head I used. I prefer personalisation of course (making my own shapes and choosing a skin), but he's not bad-looking for a basic b*tch.

I know I use the visible-thong-under-jeans look quite often, but it's mainly because making such a combination isn't something you can take for granted in SL, so it really pleases me whenever it does work without the items cutting into each other. I like to get the most out of small victories.

My stubborn streak doesn't let me drop my monthly outing with the NX-Nardcotix David mesh body. You can't just show up at one of the monthly sales events, grab anything straight from the peg and be sure it's going to work for that body, because none of the high end creators include a size for it. So it always comes down to making something work, even if it means sticking on another pair of feet, something I hadn't done in ages (it isn't exactly seamless now, is it). Still, it shows I'd be good boyfriend material, dunnit? I'll be like Rick-Astleying the hell out of it. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you... Apart from the fact that I have zero interest in relationships. Small detail, right? Anyhoo, this is what my avatar looked like today (or yesterday, actually).

An exercise I like to do every now and again is to go through my ever growing list of outfits, take a look at some old ones, chuck a few out and update just one of the looks with newer but similar items. This is the results of my latest wardrobe clearing session.
