  1. If that's your experience you might want to delve into it a little bit more. It's a very nice subscene with some very nice folks. It goes pretty deeeeep, man Escapes the sharps claws and hopes for a bear... I mean lion hug.
  2. Him: The car doesn't move Me: Have you tried the arrow keys? Him: No, just WASD like normal. Me: Think original DOOM... Just move like that. Crickets... Him: Oh wow it moves with the arrows! And the Shift key has functions too! Me: Yep. ACS for ya,. Now try to keep up, I'll go slow. He got it. And he's almost as fast as me, not yet, but catching up real fast But having to explain what the arrow keys are for? Is that a thing? Will there be a Windows 98 service pack soon? Old but not obsolete as the great philosopher Terminator said.
  3. Fired up my laptop with a 14 inch 1080. Sure; I miss my beast of a desktop with all its bells and whistles, but am away from that at present. SL works surprisingly well on a laptop with a new-ish i5 even with integrated graphics. Need a mouse, of course, but no problems with anything, HUDs and all, taking up my screen in FS. Mid to high. Sometimes methinks we demand too much
  4. How cynical we have become. As long as I can stand up to pee and hold my booze I'll stand with the young ones here. But seriously, SL suffers from gentrification. Let's please counteract that? Be welcoming in some shape or form?
  5. That reminded me... A friend of mine equipped a basic prim with full ACS modified bike scripts and a pic of a motorcycle on each side. She gave it away in group, and hilarity ensued as it actally ran pretty well. She's a well respected vehicle builder, it was basically just a joke, but also in part to show what can be done with just scripts and no physics or fancy models
  6. What Rowan said. I don't know Pro Street vehicles, but they've been around for a while. Vehicle creators are generally quite helpful if they're serious.
  7. Because Moderate is so much less complicated, I guess. Moderate spans just about everything most people will want to do. Including behing closed doors activities if one should feel so inclined. Last time was land hunting the cheapest deals were found in General, but also Adult, actually.
  8. Fart jokes (and not to mention the actual farts...) was the only thing I hated about the Navy
  9. Guessing because they really don't see it. Some visual filter may be missing, or they just don't care. Which is their prerogative. Even the classic superheroes are proportional head/body wise (mostly). Or they haven't lifted a weight in RL very much and have no concept of how a trained body actually looks. I basically grew up among strength athletes. Haven't checked my head size in years, but it's 75 with AES and a third party head at 0 to 10 % torso mucles (varies). Never had a "small head" problem. There are so many disproportional avis in SL anyway, just as many female as male, that I just pay attention to my how my own looks.
  10. I'd be asking for some help with my bikes. That it out of control. Cars? Nah. Got the time for that I'd love some time w my clothes though. Even as a guy
  11. I just use the standard from my country to closest to where LL is. Last time I checked tracert the bottleneck was in Spain. Love, love the country by all means, but give me my SL
  12. My ISP always warns me ahead if the net is going down. Saves me a lot of headache. Lasts ten minutes at most, but enough for withdrawals Kinda kidding, I need the net to make a living
  13. Wow. First I've seen anyone say that . Anywhere below 2 I just say forget it.
  14. Yep. And that is the problem I guess. Just got back from a racing track and spent time having to keep sorting my local chat and ignoring some because of IM having to aplogize later. They are there as long as SL remains. I have dragged them ,some of them along, but to similar things like I said.
  15. Shows how we all are different. 1024 for dwelling? How can that not be enough? A quarter SIM? Then I'd really be thinking about the track I'd build. Vive la difference.
  16. Still a lot of social places. But it has changed, yes. It's narrowed, in a way. Gotta find places for you. Wanna drive, drive. Many subcultures even in that realm. Speed, rideout? Drag racing? Bike, car? Both? I exist in all. But: Wanna boat? Yes. Motor or wind? "Sigh... that again" Just one example. Suspect it might exist in other realms too. One of the first convos I had as a relativly new human male was with a tiny zebra. Made me feel welcome.
  17. Me, I'd drop the Linden home and look for a 2048 on the Mainland. But that's just me. Only reason I'd really consider going from Premium to Plus worth it in the first place. But like you I don't plan to move anytime soon, like my roadside 1024 too much :)| Other than that, let a friend set up home there for free, donate it to group or rent it out at a reasonable price. Can get some pretty cheap 1024s now.
  18. So bumping relatively old posts is not that bad Racing. I do that way too much. My DM Curva or an IK equivalent. Chasing the seconds. Boating. I love checking out the World Map and see if I can get from A to B. Not sailing,, though I have some experience in that and admire those who master it, I need me some speed across water SIMs Building. You can still do a lot w prims, import some mesh and if you can't, get some on the MP Just talking with people. Trust me, it's very underrated, and before you know it hours fly by. I spend a LOT of time doing just that. Establish a conversation baseline of sorts, ignore that Friends list BS, and just meet the next time and say "oh hi again".
  19. Yeah I have heard that. Some women I know in SL know the difference between a 55 or a 57 Chevy blower motor. Yet I know they are women, as we've spent night after night talking. I know the names of their dogs... I could target them on Google Maps were I so inclined. Which I am obviously not. Just a "sigh". Whatever happened to patience.
  20. Reason I ask is I have encountered folks who ask me for my FB or other stuff. Used to be in SL (I'm not that old, going on seven years in here), where even what country you're from demanded at least a modicum of conversation. Not to mention that my female friends tell me that the first guys ask for is personal info. Don't get me wrong, I'm from the top of Europe just a short flight from polar bears, and have friends from Canada to Egypt, that's the wonder of SL. But when did it get so directly personal?
  21. That's the thing with guitars and motorcycles - they age well. Unlike (modern) cars and humans From your explanation I'd prob be more nervous about performing in SL than when I first set foot onstage And that was to drunk folks appreciating I just got the blues and "twang" right. And not throwing anything at me, thankfully
  22. (Puts my Ibanez 550 JEM Steve Vai issue back in the case...). I get it. Thanks for the explanation!
