  1. Its exiting, as these look to be a future connection. HOW they would connect it to a 20m water is anyone's say, however I think a logical choice would be up the E side of the coastline there to connect to the end of the East River. That would be quite the route! Effectively connecting all of Heterocera to Jeogeot!
  2. We DO have a group. Please do your homework. Also, please read through the forum here itself before you troll. Please read the first post in this forum as well; It asks for constructive conversation.
  3. No, I see that, I read the submission. I'm not trying to come down on you, It just does indirectly affect what the cc group is trying to do, and thus does indirectly connect to the group. Its not wrong, what you did, not wrong at all, I'm just "Awwwww, whadya doin?... I wish... you.... eh... ugh.... oh well..." That's all.
  4. There was a post somewhere i read that the LL folks are sort of against the straight line approach; something about no autopilot routes, put in some excitement for the travelers. Not a disruptive zigzag for the sake or purpose, per-say, but I can understand that theory.... I could go either way, as there are valid benefits to either approach. It does make some sense to tack a-lot of 'around the continents' connections to adjacent sims, and/or extend the existing waters around the path with a sim here and there... There are alot of waterways with only a few sims to connect them logistically. YES, Ideally, larger, NON-user lands for water/flying is idea, as NOONE and I mean NONE of us care to think on how angry orbs and banlines make us when crafting. But if you look at many areas, there is alot of open water, even if its just a 1/2 sim or even a 1/4 sim width run, it just needs along, say, a 10 to 15 sim stretch, 3 or 4 sims added to make it a very passable route. I think asking LL to dedicate full separate water sims for the whole span is a little much. if ANY sim added, even if its low avi entrance/ie low server responsibility, LL is gunna easily decline that thinking. OR, maybe I am wrong and for them it IS easier to dedicate low network resource sims to a dedicated channel, who knows... we initially thought the less we ask for, raw sim # wise, the better we can convince them that its a viable request... I agree with you the zigzag three sim thing is funky, but it may not be a bad thing if there is SOME course alteration requiring turns in the routes. That of-course is up to WHAT LL is willing to do, if anything, to these routes/connections.
  5. That she does, absolutely right. But, why then come into the forum here at all, and tell everyone who has been discussing and collectively strategizing several routes, that you just, on your own, submitted your route to LL. Again, I like the initiative, but IMO, and I may be wrong, as for what we are as a group trying to achieve, is a bit premature and reckless. That's all I'm trying to say, (see below)... I equate it to this... a group of fishermen gather together and join efforts to fish. They circle the boats to corral the fish. Then, before the group decides on how to best lower the net and get the most fish, someone comes along, jumps in the middle of the circle and scares all the fish away, then gets out and looks to the grouped fisherman and says, "Hi everyone, I'm here to fish too". No-one is going to begrudge that single person to fish, the group doesn't particularly own that fishing hole, but the group IS gunna look at the lone fisherman and say, 'What were you thinking, that's kind of counter productive to what were trying to do here. Come join your ideas and lets fish more effectively." We were trying for a single route to open the initial idea, maybe 120 sims or so... She submitted a plan that uses hundreds of sims, lets not even discuss the logistics of it, and its frankly making us look unorganized and stupid. I'm sorry, initiative is one thing, but the collective movement of this idea needs a little less 'from the hip' to its approach. The scope of our cc request is already so vastly out of LL's obligation to its users, so, I'm just suggesting a little more polished proposals to LL. Her idea is just as valid as anyone else's ideas, just talk em over in the group first, lets get a consensus. So, when someone DOES jump in and scatter the fish, don't look crossly at the fisherman spokesperson for asking "Hey, what are ya thinking?"
  6. Although initiative is always a good thing, this is one of SEVERAL proposals we have been going over in the group, and I am sure I am not alone in feeling that one lone proposal not agreed upon by the group as a whole is a little premature that it was sent in to LL. I was hoping that we would send in an official proposal that was agreed upon by the group as a majority, and one that included SEVERAL options. I think we appreciate you trying to keep then ball moving forward, but, before anyone makes a proposal to LL regarding this group, can you at least FIRST consult the group, and as a group agree that this is the next course of action in the groups best interest? I had a plan to construct a full proposal and consult the group before submitting in the name of the group. Sarah, sweetie, this route is a little impractical in many respects, and may get a negative response form LL as to our goal here. I wish you consulted the group first. We have been talking about baby steps to get the idea rolling in LL's mind. Please, no-one jump on Sarah for this, it inst the end of the world, she only meant well, I'm sure. And it may get a positive response, who knows. It just makes our cause look chaotic. Julia
  7. interesting... may not even be sail-able or even comfortably flyable, and with banlines, even worse.... this is a start though, in the right direction... if its successful, it may help grease the lines for a connected mindset :)
  8. Is anyone else having a window opened up by slplugin.exe stating java alert / that flash needs to be updated? Firestorm 5.1.7 new install, all old files deleted Flash updated and auto update set still comes up stating flash needs updating EVERY time I log into SL using Firestorm. searching this issue NOTHING seems to come up. Am I the ONLY person with this window warning? Started about 2 weeks ago. Thank You in advance Julia
  9. Thank you for pointing this out for us Oh, so we actually DON'T need you to point this out for us..... I'm always extremely reluctant to respond to post with this and previous flavors, because in the world of online forums, and message boards, etc, this only fuels your fire. Nothing I say will do anything except invite your pointed retort. In it's internet form, this has been going on since the late 80's/early 90's. You are not pioneers. I will say this. To those that feel it necessary to come and adamantly educate us 'couple dozen' dreamers on what LL will or will not do. (and btw, we don't have a ton, but did get nearly 250 members in the in-world group in the first 24 hours. Now, does this mean we have many more than that... nah, not really, but the interest was such that a lot of folks posted interest and support immediately when hearing about it from group notices throughout. I still get IMs from airport owners, land and sim owners, sail and flying group personnel and moderators that have expressed support and thanks for this endeavor. I never majored in math, but that's more than a couple dozen). Back to my point.... Every one of us dreamers from DAY ONE is and was WELL aware that this is not going anywhere - LL has NO intention of applying this proposal - this is a monumental undertaking to even get a large set of sims opened, and appropriated with little to no income for LL supporting its construct. LL has NO reason or incentive to do anything other than MAYBE mention its viability, good or bad, and we probably wont even get that much! So, your (and you know who you are) negative, vindictive, unfriendly posts scolding us to our ignorance, is nothing more than simply annoying to a thread that was started to speak of a wonderful idea. You are NOT educating us. You are NOT telling us anything we don't already know. You are NOT enlightening us to any facts or even responses we did not already anticipate. The only thing happening is such a negative response from such a positive idea. I welcomed the 'No's when we opened this dialog, what I AM disappointed with are the adamant condescending tones that are coming with such arrogant conviction. We get it, you got a pretty good beat on things. I so dislike responding and giving attention to this behavior, but I have to say something. Not that I am any more important than any other member of the CC group. I am not. I am also not the first to come up with this idea. And that's all it is an idea. We all know of its futility, hence the need for a constructive discussion. I don't think one can hit a ball without swinging the bat. I am guilty of dreaming, I am sorry our dreaming offends your forum awareness. Like I said, I don't mind the No's, i welcome them. But why some have to be so callous or malevolent in tone, that helps no one. If you feel we are so misguided, then perhaps your precious time is worth other endeavors. Let us not distract you. Julia - I will reply no more to these BS posts. (now, of-course, as most forums revert to this, as many who come for ideas, see that ideas are of the past, and its just a flame throwing contest, they leave and time waits until the moderators finally close the thread. I had hoped we could get more of an ongoing dialog for this, but I see condescension seems to silent the constructive input, and we are left for the passers by to take their pot-shots. I hope this is not the case)
  10. Unfortunately, I think the majority of new signons are alts... Maybe that's why you don't really see that many new residents.... I'm sure its alt least a large number of them.
  11. So much for constructive comments in this thread. Please, name-calling is unnecessary. I'm also biting my tongue and keeping my thoughts and comments on the whole banline/orb argument for another thread... This thread is about the connection for the continents, if you have no use for it, don't use it... Its that simple.... Julia
  12. MeesterP gets it! Its about the journey! Lets do something wonderful! yes, that or isolated islands, rez zones, points of interest, things to see, for sure.... For the folks that say that the sims need to be payed for, sure, rent-able parcels.... There is a TON of sims in between continents that connect them, all around the large group of continents, PLENTY of sims that are LL and NOT rent-able sims, THEY are there.. for sailing, flying, diving, etc. Not EVERY new sim needs to be a profit load for LL. Towns all over make parks and recreation areas for recreation. I'm not saying that every sim needs to be a freebie, but, this is a community proposal for everyone NOT just US.... Im sorry, I am not for a portal. YES, folks, its a neat idea in itself, but we can already TP anywhere, so how is this anything other than TPin IN our sailbaot.... bleh.... no thanks... This proposal was for a sailable, flyable connection to not only connect the continents, but to create a whole new thing in SL that can be used for a number of crafting uses. The Atoll can be a themed wonder in itself - the channels can be islands with parcels or parks, or other wonders to explore. I never said this would be easy.... I just said it would be awesome? Julia
  13. I would support inhabited sims as well as completely open sims, BUT... I think for funding, and for interest, and for enjoyment, scattered rent-able islands throughout would be great not only for people that live there, but of-course, navigation, and some funding... BUT one thing we definitely don't want is sims that are so over crowded they do not allow for bi directional traffic, space for larger craft, or even space for easy navigation. FOUR islands per sims should be PLENTY to generate revenue, provide a nice landscape, and also allow for plenty of space for bi-directional navigation. Scatter them up, maybe 3 in one sim, 4 in another, 2 in another, 1, etc.... I am always thinking ideally, of-course.... Themes could be established through different legs of the channels... Tropics for some, something like a northern theme, Aleutian Islands Alaska, perhaps, simulating a colder string of islands. Why not.. Again, I could go either way with the completely open, or some islands, but it MUST remain very open and easily navigable or else this project is in vein.
  14. Outside of the East river itself, perhaps the only logical place to grab it would be to put a sim in the 'L' created by Bleaberry Tarn and Harter Fell. This would be on the end of the East river.... BUT, its VERY south if departing Atanua. BUT maybe an ATOL has two exits, one going south and one continuing west and hitting Heterocera. But I'm ahead of myself, but if you are going to dream, dream BIG! Now, if the route was opened a little more, then a Satori departure from Stromburg is doable, but is still pretty far north (as far as Sansara is concerned) Including ANY of the sims that exist in the NE side off the coast of Langdale sim, etc. Those sims are NOT constructed to accommodate any water traffic, so including them is not an option in my opinion. They are allocated to whomever commissioned them, so they cannot be considered at this stage. we only gain a few sims of 'what is needed as a whole', but really may pose more of a logistical inclusion than we think. Speculation, of-course, but I do NOT want to assume. There would be some squiggle, but tacking into Moses or Bevel would be usable... being on the NE end of the continent. Ideal would be something that wiggled to ANWR, as mentioned before. Dump it RIGHT into the open water with routes to 3 paths IMMEDIATELY. MY thoughts, for what they are worth, is we would get the best usability from Atanua to ANWR. IF I was asked what would be ideal. Julia
  15. Hehehe, yea, right? I guess the owners would have to enact similar sailing sims covenants banning banlines and orbs. Rules to keep the channel what it was designed for... open travel.
  16. Well, contrary to some thinking, I suppose its much easier to ascertain, that they were simply separated in such a way that it provided plenty of grid space for outward continental expansion. YES, sims can be moved, but its better to give oneself room to expand when the needs arise. I think its so individual future continental growth doesn't interfere with one another geographically.
  17. I thought about this as well, perhaps sell naming rights to the new sims, like some RL places sell named sponsor brick walkways, etc. Yes, perhaps a rental structure for some parcels within the sims would help pay for this. As well as parcel rentals for the atoll sims... Think about it, how is this any different from tropical sims that already exist? Sure, things aren't over crowded in Sl waterways, but, those vacancies happen to be in the more expensive areas, so cheaper alternatives DO exist and people will rent from the lesser expensive parcels.... So if LL does create a bridge, sells sims, how much would those sims go for? top dollar meaning the parcels are same prices as the Blake area sims, which are NOT filled.... so... the rate at which these sims become populated, lucrative for owners and LL themselves, depends on how much LL charges for the individual sims. But, we are here to dream and plan, so... Stay positive! Julia
  18. Maybe this is how we do it, WE build it one sim at a time!!!! This thought HAS occurred to me as well....
  19. And as for the TP folks, I appreciate the ideas, but, this idea is for a sail-able 'sea' for planes, boats, etc to use for SEVERAL RP scenarios. I can TP now! And for the folks saying WHY should LL do this??? well, I am simply proposing a suggestion as a paying customer, along with my fellow paying customers to make an improvement in the sailing and flying construct so its enjoyed by even more paying customers. It a suggestion... I dont use the sex sims, i have no use for them... I am simply trying to improve the SL areas I DO use and think these are FINE ideas. They will be enjoyed by all SL craft residents... Even those that want to nay-say this proposal, well, we want YOU to enjoy this as well... Good ideas and wonderful things have always begun with dreamers and followed by constructive planning... We are dreaming, and we are now compiling our plan.
  20. Not bad... one of the more effortless additions to not need and mainland editing to open any access channels to get to... This could be done for both flying and sailing if they extend some form of sail-able access to continue down the West side of Satori, something past Stromberg on down to the tip. we really dont have any ideal scenarios, unless we get something that is not a straight line.... instead of looking for a straight shot, its something that leaves Atuana, and incorporates the Atoll rent-able sims, then shoots down/over to a more open area, such as connecting in Tikva or Bevel. Maybe its 6 in one hand, half dozen in the other depending on down the coast then straight over, which would be better, I think... the southern tip of Satori, if the west coast sims were opened. Personally, I don't want sliver channel LL access-ways, OK if it s ALL we get, but. How many times do we try and sail those channels, and 1/2 of the way is some clown with banlines on it and inevitably off sim objects, which, YES i know are phantom, but, its ridiculous. I have had those offsim junk w/physics literally throw me into the banlines and eject me. So, as few of these routs as possible are ideal, but... its tough no matter if we find a 80 or 100 sim solution. Its still up to LL as to whether they want to improve sailing experience in SL, or if its just down to how many AFK sex sims they can rent and cash in on high profit per sim.
  21. Neat.... if you DO find it, please let us know.... If there isn't one, Ill probably make one of those, but most full perm shirts have a TOS that requires I sell them instead of give them to the group, and I would feel bad making money on this... Julia
  22. Couple quick thoughts..... - Anna mentioned above a Toll, eh, I thought about that for a split second the other day myself, but figured that would work at first with the newness in it, but would wither and then flatten. I think a more stable source would be better... Keeping it free for passage would be used by the populous, and a toll would make people just TP and thus were back to where we began. Thoughts? - Perhaps an atoll of sims in the middle somewhere that has tier based parcels, tropical theme on one, Aleutian Islands type of theme on perhaps another... - Tier based lands on islands throughout the channels to also help offset sim existence costs. More sporadically placed than the group sections in the atoll. - a half sim width access for the movement past island parcels, so no squeezing through sliver LL access ways. These sims should be mostly open for travel These are things that were discussed in the chatroom that I thought I would put in the forum... More to come as I read them and remember then hehehe. Thoughts? Julia
  23. Yes, that is why this forum was started, for constructive ideas to achieve this goal. As for contributions to a community generated content platform, I myself, have spent real world money on a monthly basis in SL and not just for years of a tier, and I am sure I am not alone. These ARE ideas from paying customers. No-one supporting this idea expects anything for free, and there are several existing methods that can keep this expansion self sustaining, just as any sim in SL is. We are WELL aware of the drawbacks form a financial standpoint that if its not a cash windfall for LL, this idea very well may just wither away. As stated in the first post, this forum is for the constructive compilation of ideas from MANY SL craft enthusiasts to make a workable expansion/connection to the craft-able sims happen. Julia
  24. This is the official forum thread for the SL Connect the Continents interest group. This group was created to grow momentum, popularity and plans to create a sim channel to connect the major continents in SecondLife; starting with a connection from Satori to Sansara, as well as a channel from Sansara to Jeogeot. Sailing, aviation, passenger and freight fans alike would benefit from a long traverse-able connection between the larger closer continents. Please join in world if you support this idea, and our list/forum will serve as a petition/interest gathering. We already have many members and are quickly gaining support from users, sim owners, airport owners, marina owners as well as basic SL craft enthusiasts. This thread is the official thread where we will compile ideas, concerns, support, etc for this landmark proposal. Please feel free to contribute, but need I say, let's please keep this constructive. Julia Raymond
