Hello everyone. I'm Japanese and it hasn't been so long using Blender2.8. But I first made a mug and then made apples and wine glasses. And I uploaded them to SL and everything went well. Next, I now used the basic SL 3D mesh model to tryed to create an avatar.

First of all, The 3D model data downloaded from the following SL Wiki.

    http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh_Upload_test_suite.

    https://developer.blender.org/F16281

I used ''SimpleBot.dae''. Uploaded to SL Beta. It's I was going to do a simple test.

This is a web page that I used as a reference. I followed this procedure.

    http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh/Uploading_and_wearing_a_rigged_mesh

That is the state of the Screen Shot. The right is it a Rezzing 3D model, Left is My avatar like a fugly spider or something. And another 3D model is as big as a 20-story building. What is wrong with these data? When uploading, of course I check T-pause and weight (rigging option).

I used the Blender2.8 to fix the weight of this 3D model and rigged it over and over again. All bones and joints move beautifully in the blender. But after uploading to SL, they didn't work at all. I have already spent over 60 hours on this issue.

I used Goggle translating all English (Spanish and Portuguese) into Japanese. Perhaps I must first master three languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese) in order to fully enjoy SL production content.

I tried youtube and google search to solve this problem, but the Japanese tutorials are almost no. And the number of Japanese in SL is less than 2% of SL, and they are silent like zombies.

I need your good teaching and awesome advice. Please give me a solution or a good tip. Or please let me know if there are any forums or topics about my problem. :))

i really don't know what to tell you except spend about $20US and buy a blender plugin called "Avastar". it will save you all this grief and make rigging for SL a breeze. i'd guess over 95% of people making rigged mesh for sl use it.

For both of these Maitreya has the biggest availability of clothing if after demoing different bodies you think it's the body for you but not in your price range, yet. i had an alt try out the L$30 Sahara "Maitreya compatible" body from http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Fredrix/217/15/73 (adult sim) it's not very newbie friendly in terms of applying skins as you need actual skin textures to get a UUID (there's a pack for L$1 there) and has no applier/Omega support or bento there's also a very basic L$1 head available not worth buying IMHO my alt is wearing Maitreya rigged stuff obtained free from the recent winter Shop & Hop Jumper - Evani & Trouser/Boot combo - Blueberry but anything Maitreya i've tried has fitted as well as it would on the actual body

i just wanted to say i have updated the Sahara Avatar. it's now BoM ready and much improved over all.

it now cost 899 lindens though. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Sahara-Fitted-Mesh-Avatar-BoM/18324869

Does this mean she basically cloned Maitreya's body and sells it under her own name? Not seeing how else you can wear Maitreya sized cloths on another body in a different way?

    absolutely not.

it is a completely different mesh. i spent over a year, hundreds of uploads and thousands of lindens to get the mesh to the point where maitreya clothing will fit well enough. anyone can tell it is not a clone or a copybotted mesh. i am not the first or only one to make a maitreya compatible mesh, but i dare say i am the only one who actually achieved it. the HUD is the exact avatar one is wearing, so you can just examine that to realize it is a completely different mesh. also, while most every Maitreya item fits well enough, it can be noticed that many things do not fit exactly the same. another way you can tell is to wear my avatar over the maitreya avatar and you will see it has different contours. make one of the avatars partially transparent and the difference will be even more clear. another way you can tell it is not a bootleg maitreya is it has completely different alpha panels.

how it is possible for clothes made for one mesh can fit another is, it does not have to fit perfectly in every area, it only has to fit good in certain key areas such as the waist, around the wrists and shoulders, where ever the edge of the clothes meets the skin, the rest can be hidden by the alpha panels. so since the waist, wrists and shoulders of most clothes finish right around the same place, those are the important areas to make the mesh line up right. for example, it doesn't matter if the butt of my avatar is bigger or smaller then Miatreya's, as long as the waist is close enough, because the butt can be hidden. you can bet if it were a knockoff it would have been taken down by now.

anyone who knows how to use a 3d mesh program can take an open source small standard size mesh avatar(it already has the SLUVs) or get an avatar from "make human"(use maya to transfer the SLUVs) and painstakingly adjust it to be Maitreya, or slink, or whatever compatible.  it may sound easier than it is though. as i said it took me over a year and several hours of work each night.

general FYI while i am here. i have updated the avatar to fix minor glitches. i also have released 3 original bento heads.

all of my meshes are created by me. i do not contract others or buy full permission meshes and sell them as my own.

I link a lot of ppl to this video lately. It explains LOD, why we need LOD and why it is a bad idea to set them that high. It is made by a well informed and respected resident who really knows what he's talking about.

i watched the video. i invite everyone to watch and decide for themselves if he said anything meaningful, particularly about rendervolume levels.

about rendervolume this is verbatim what he said

"now there is talk about people being told to increase their rendervolume LOD factor. now in my honest opinion this is a very bad idea and what you are essentially doing is disabling LODs, some LODs or possible all LODs and you are forcing your computer to render everything no matter where it is in front of you at it's highest detail. and there probably aren't many computers in SL than can do that effectly without causing problems. so you are degrading your SL experience by eliminating LODs."

that's it. that doesn't explain why someone shouldn't raise there LOD level even up to 8. all he did was repeat what he's heard.

his opinion has nothing to do with someone's computer. he can't make the statement you are degrading your experience because it is simple not true. if you are on a computer using pentium II ok don't raise your LOD but the average computer these days, like 3 to 4 or even 5 years old can render higher LOD. with intergrated graphic cards even.

in no way shape or form is my personal experience degraded in any way, he certainly was not speaking to me. nor to most everyone else i would bet.

have you ever tried raising it to 8 to see if you notice a degrade in your experience? i promise you your computer will not blow up. if you do notice a problem just turn it back down. without know what kind of computer you have i would bet you won't notice any degrade.

i don't want to sound harsh but you don't know why someone shouldn't raise their LOD and so you are not in a position to say i gave very bad advice.  its just what people have said and so you figured it was right. for some it might be, but it is far from a rule of thumb.

nothing "very bad" is going to happen and they can turn it down to 6 and then to 4 if need be just like i said.

in the meantime i enjoy everything being rendered at it's highest level all the time.

at least if the claim was it helps to cut down on lag i could understand.

and if it is like gospel to not go higher than 4 because you don't need to see all the detail then why isn't draw distance looked at the same way, why not tell everyone not to raise there draw distance higher the say 256 because they don;t need to see everything no matter where it is in there view?

if you have just a decent computer you are fine. each person should test what is best for them, not just except things that get parroted. if your computer can handle it there is nothing wrong with it. right? if it can't, lower it. there is not forbidden line.

I know you have mentioned in another post that you are about to release your own mesh body. How would you feel if you saw that body, just weeks after your release, being sold by another resident, for a very low price? How would you feel if this resulted into your sales dropping to almost zero, even tho you made this, you spend weeks working trough problems, texturing and stuff...? Can you honestly say you would be perfectly fine with that coz you do not believe in copyrights?

i wouldn't sweat it. sales would not drop to zero(not that i anticipate any), people who copy but never add anything to what they take are always behind the true creators. there are ripped bodies out there yet i have a maitreya, why? because there is more value in it, the rippers can't provide that. most of those that buy ripped stuff would never have bought the original. software companies gripe about pirates yet they stil somehow make money hand over fist. music companies cry about pirates yet they make make record profits, hollywood, writers, youtubers even all make tons of money. how can this be if your premise is sound?

people with skill and talent will always make money, it's copyrights that make empty suits make money for doing nothing.

look at the history of the music industry, is there even an artist who has not been robbed by those suits with lawyers?

Well, without ppl that downloaded, maybe? They would sell things called records and ppl would pay for them. Before records ppl would pay to visit a live performance and were willing to pay be there.:catwink:

yes exactly and you see how well it worked out.

copyleft is freedom not freeloading. it's seems too radical a concept, so much so that people don't even realize that it's actually fundamental to the grow and health of a society.

you all can act like i just made this up, like i am some dope, but you have to admit noe of you have actually given it true consideration and thought. you all assume not only that that's the way it needs to be but that's the way it's always been.

you all are wrong and indoctrinated. if the powers that be switched tomorrow so would all of you and likely deny that you were ever against copyleft.

  7. how did people, artists, inventors and the like survive for thousands of years? you don't want to think it out in a real way, you'd rather just be snide because it seems so obsurd to you that people can make money.....plenty money.....all kinds of people like musicians without anything like copyrights....... i didn't just make this up off the top of my head. rather than talk to me like i am a fool. look into it first............see what kind of minds you are actually calling a fool(not literally....i know i have to say that plainly). and no copyright does not mean free. you should not equate the two.

I can go along with that as long as you agree to extend it to everything. We shouldn't have to pay for food or (RL) housing or computers or electricity or anything. It should all be free for the good of the people!

I come from a musician background and saw what music streaming did: record sales just stopped overnight, many good musicians were no longer able to make a living and since musicians need food and shelter too and those things for some reason aren't free, they had to give up their jobs and try to find something else.

That's right. But you know what, those people who inveted... they too needed (and need) food and shelter. They don't just want, they
    need
some sort of income from the work they do. That is what intellectual property protecion is all about in the end, it's to ensure that creative people of all kinds will be able to continue to create for the good of all mankind.

  8. none of you even understand to make sensible replies.

let me try it this way.... how is it that we have things that no one owns the rights to?

yes chin they bought the brushes.......and those that made them got paid but the inventor did not. see that is why you can make brushes and sell them.

you all just accept things as fact and natural but you haven't really thought about it.

  9. from what i understand Ebbe doesn't want to hear from anyone that isn't officially connected to his ear.

I think I remember something to the effect of telling users he doesn't want feedback, to stop telling them things you think they should do. it might even be in the TOS in some form.

after sansar tanks Ebbe will go back to flipping burgers and you can buy SL in bankruptcy court and implement your features then.

i wonder how much time and money has been spent on sansar.

  10. thank you Ruthven, grateful for your effort.:)

rolig sent me the modified script with the exact changes you made so i can tell you it does work:)

i think this thread was supposed to have been deleted though since its not the right place to make a request like i did.

    thanks again though:)

  11. i don't think it's pointless, review systems often help me make the right choice. how i use them is look at the worst reviews first. unreasonable people are usually easy to spot then fake positive reviews. so i throw out their review. and there are less reasons for a negative review, a merchant might game the system for positive reviews but obvioulsy not for negative, so as i say it's easier to filter out the jerks. if i see some thing with 17 5 stars and 1 with 1 star, the 1 one star usually turns out to be meaningless.

i think most people can spot revenge reviews. i wouldn't worry about it.

  12. ebbe recently said last year 60 million dollars was redeemed. so how much money laundering can be taking place?

    if 60 people redeem 1,000,000 = 60,000,000

    600 people redeem 100,000 = 60,000,000

    6000 people redeem 10,000 = 60,000,000

    60,000 people redeem 1,000 = 60,000,000

does it seem far fetched 1500 people made 40,000 last year? which of course would mean no one else redeemed money.

there doesn't seem be too much room for laundering. not that i'm making any kind of conclusion, i'm just saying.

Wait, you don't think Alienware copyright protected my keyboard? or that Disney doesn't protect its "pixels" you watch on video? You are a grade A batch of crazy?

this is how you understood what i wrote? putting Disney aside, just because there are laws concerning "intellectual property" doesn't mean there actually is such a thing or that it is just. disney uses the laws to their advantage just like so many other people and companies. i am talking about the concept. just because Disney can invoke a law, it doesn't validate the concept that law is based on.

Hold up. You really think an artist doesn't own the rights to their art because someone else made the brushes, canvas and paints?

yes. a brush is an invention, according to "IP" rights why shouldn't that inventor be compensated.....why doesn't that artist have to buy a license? why isn't it infringement on the invention if that artist makes his own brushes?

do you see how ridiculous that is? according to IP rights such a thing is possible.

Well hell, girl, your parents made you, does that make you their property?

are you trying to make my point or yours?

  14. there is no such thing as intellectual property. nobody owns ideas, words or meshes. why is it ok to use words that some else made to write your story or colors some else make to paint your art?

there are only so many ways to say "i love you" and only so many ways to make a human avatar or a chair or whatever. polygons belong to everyone, so do words and any combination of words. intellectual property is a fabrication of criminals who took other people stuff and claimed it for themselves. they are criminals not because they took it, but because they concocted a device "intellectual property"to prevent others from using what is not theirs. they are the rippers.

you'd be no where without things other people invented..............lucky no one copyrighted the pencil or pixels or keyboards.........or a gazilion other things you use everyday to create "your"...........IT'S ALL MINE.........property.
