  1. There are bad fruitcakes and there are good fruitcakes. The bad ones are usually bad because they're far too dry. The good ones are quite moist and (as Pam has suggested) infused with enough alcohol to make the consumption of them worth while. My sister loves a good fruitcake... I've seen her enjoy them on more than one occasion, so I know it's not a fluke. If she tells me they're good, I might even have a piece myself, depending on my mood. Consequently, when someone calls me a fruitcake, I usually take that as a compliment. ...Dres (...especially when I'm infused with enough alcohol to make me worth while.)

Please consider removing Bryn Oh and Whiskey Monday from your list of considerations... as they're both serious (and seriously good) artists who deserve to not be covered by someone interested only in fun, anti-intellectual content.

But in the past 2 years, sales dropped off. I blame Mesh. Why? Because I am just not skilled enough nor have enough time and patience to sit on Blender all day and all night. Many want Mesh clothing now...not old school system clothing. So, I've been standing on my last leg of holding on for a year now. And I'm about to throw the towel in after 7 years. Sorry, but watch me play the world's primiest violin. There are plenty of mesh builders who release kits that onlt need to be textured. If you are that good of an artist that you were making around $10 000 a month selling system clothes or prim items, you could easily get by texturing full perm mesh made by others. And before you sneeze at that, consider that almost the entire kid avi market is fueled by about 4 actual builders. And it's a pretty big market. So sorry, mesh didn't kill your business; laziness did. You're making a huge assumption here. While laziness can very well be a contributing factor to a person's decision not to get into the business of texturing full-perm, mesh clothing, it certainly is not the only one that can come into play. For instance, when someone is used to creating things from scratch, I can readily see why they'd be adverse to using someone else's creations as a starting point. Perhaps they just don't want to dive into an already, overly saturated market. Really, there are any number of reasons. Plus, I didn't see Shannon suggesting in any way that anyone should feel sorry for her. ...Dres

If all they're really doing is bothering you online, then you need to make use of the tools already given you to protect yourself or get over it. ...Dres Maybe I'm missing something here, Dres, but it seems to me that -- assuming that the OP is accurately reporting what is happening -- this is a pretty legitimate complaint. He is describing violations of the Community Standards which, in some contexts might, I suppose, come under the heading of "being bothered online," but that in SL are, in fact, violations of the platform's own rules of conduct. The point that he is, I think, making is precisely that he's tried using "the tools already given" to him to deal with it, and that they aren't working. In which case, he should take the other part of my advice and get over it. As Pam just suggested, he needs to stop looking at that person's profile and fretting over it. What that person is doing is juvenile and stupid (plus a few other things), but the only thing that makes it at all effective is the OP's reaction it. I once had someone create an account, using something close to my name, and start posting really crazy things on the profile feeds suggesting that I was a drunk... clearly, this was meant to mock me. But instead of getting all bent out of shape and screaming bloody murder, I simply laughed, followed them and replied to their comments in a jovial manner. I even sent them an IM inworld thanking them for their hilarious parody of me and encouraged them to please continue doing so. They never posted another thing with that account, making the whole episode a rather pleasant memory instead of an ongoing issue. The point is that if you take yourself too seriously, a-holes like that will zero in on you as someone they'll get a kick out of bothering. All that really needs to be done is to stop taking yourself so seriously... then it won't bother you and won't provide that sort of person with the dramatainment they so badly desire. The question really isn't whether or not that person is actually violating the ToS/Community Standards, but what will actually be effective in getting that person to stop. Obviously, filing abuse reports hasn't worked very well... so, what else is there for the OP to do but get over it and stop giving this person reason to continue? ...Dres

  16. It's probably a technical issue, one with which I was once afflicted. After trying for days to figure it out on my own, I found that if I uploaded the picture directly to my forum badge using the upload link on that page, it would invariably disappear the next day. It's seems that, apparently, uploading it from that page doesn't save it to your My Photos section. But, once I uploaded it directly to my My Photos section, then chose it from there for use as my badge, it never disappeared again. I suggest you try doing it that way. ...Dres
