Then, when it does come it will not replace SL, but exist as a new alternative to SL.If you don't want to use it, you can stay right here. Lots of people will, especially those who have many years and a lot of L$ invested in this world. Of course there will still be some recalcitrants in SL. Teri ((I won't offer to call you a Princess of Reading Comprehension, because my sarcasm doesn't stretch that far.)) The German law involves certain specific symbols - the swastika being one, with the others most familiar from World War II being the runic lightning-bolt SS and the totenkopf death's head emblem of the Schutzstaffel ("SS"). The basic uniforms themselves aren't part of the law. Interestingly enough, some of the banned symbols appear to be neo-Nazi associated and aren't familiar to most people outside of Germany. In fact, one of them is a fairly commonly used decoration in SL. In SL, Luftwaffe planes and Wehrmacht uniforms are common; however, the planes don't have the swastika on the vertical stabilizer, which was the one place the Luftwaffe planes had swastikas. So, basically, you are agreeing I am right. Teri ((While ignoring your own miscomprehension.))

  9. Why are you allowing these things to bother you? This is not the real world. Feelings are irrelevant. Everybody is lying here, as soon as they choose a name that isn't theirs and an avatar that is fantasy character, even (or more especially) those who claim not to be; they are generally lying to themselves primarily! Don't trust anyone, and if you don't feel comfortable, exit. That doesn't mean that you have to quit SL, or even logoff, just make sure you have a default tp spot you can make your escape to. Mute those who annoy you, ignore those who pester you, and leave groups as soon as you have got the joining benefits and before you get overwhelmed by spam. Don't buy anything. It will all be useless when SL V2 comes along, and the bs that people give you about needing a cool avatar and an extensive wardrobe is just because they want to sell you something, or feel insecure about their own self-image. Make lots of alts, each with their own email address. That helps you hide, double deal and hurt less when you have to abandon an identity because the heat's on. Teri ((And wear sunscreen.))

Simply log off if you can't keep an eye on your avi. Reported for insensitivity to those SL participants who are actually unable to speak. I suggest you choose your words more carefully. There are plenty of synonyms for stupid which are not gratuitously offensive, like idiotic, moronic, unintelligent, ignorant, dense, foolish, slow, simpleminded, vacuous, vapid, imbecilic, obtuse, doltish, thick, dim, half-witted, daft, dozy, cretinous, all of which you might wish to use to describe the OP's "friend" without insulting the vocally impaired. Wow. That's a whole lot of stuff there. While we're on the subject of foreknowledge or preconsideration of the background of other forum members, perhaps a look at the definition of the word "dumb" right underneath the version you've chosen to highlight is in order. Particular attention shoud be paid to the region in which this definition is a longstanding commonality. Considering the number of words used in other regions which have completely different meanings and intensities in America that are almost never accounted for, I would hope that this tendency to demand such nitpicking lest ye be tattled on is an exception rather than a rule. I can think of a word used in Britain to describe a "jerk" which is typically, again in Britain, used by a man talking to another man which if used in America in the presence of a woman will have her and many around hopping mad. I doubt I have to spell it out, but when the average English guy gets checked on that faux pas the reaction that I've gotten many times was for that very same word to be directed AT ME in the very American definition of itself. And, as alluded to earlier, I am in those instances indeed hopping mad. dumb dəm/ adjective adjective: dumb; comparative adjective: dumber; superlative adjective: dumbest 1. offensive (of a person) unable to speak, most typically because of congenital deafness. "they stared in dumb amazement" synonyms: mute, speechless, tongue-tied, silent, at a loss for words; More taciturn, uncommunicative, untalkative, tight-lipped, close-mouthed; informalmum "she stood dumb while he shouted" 2. North American informal stupid. "a dumb question" synonyms: stupid, unintelligent, ignorant, dense, brainless, mindless, foolish, slow, dull, simple, empty-headed, stunned, vacuous, vapid, idiotic, half-baked, imbecilic, bovine; More And what makes you think that the 50% of forum participants who are not North American would not be insulted by the use of an inappropriate and minority-abusive pejorative? You might also want to ask the wonderful Treasure and her friends here in SL what the North American element of VirtualAbility think of such language.
