I have a very good video card. just looking for suggestions on good settings. I do not use fog or shadow, I even do not use the trees that are generated in-game ie non-mesh or Sculpted, I use Firestorm, Is there a suggestion also to find a viewer where we can take awesome photos, I do not feel that the filters on Firestorm are awesome enough. Any suggestion is welcomed!

Crank everything up to max quality girl, you really need particles and shadows for stunning photos. Use "Shared Environment" in most sims, adjust gamma if to dark, only minor adjust needed or select one of the beautiful environments available.

Use Phototools in FS to adjust minor details like depth of field.

Your RTX 3070 can handle it without problems, only exceptions would be busy clubs and the blame there is not the GPU.

    Dear Mr. Linden,

The inspection by The Association of Bad Nannies of The House of The Children, Millbank, Bellisseria raises a lot of concern for the well being of the children in it – not to mention the children below it and within the walls.

First of all, we find the placement of the shotgun out of reach by children aged 0-6 unacceptable. We expect this to be brought in order ASAP. We also recommend boxes of cartridges to be scattered all around the floor.

Second, the carpet with the corpse constitutes a security risk for a nanny as toddlers can hide below it. We do not like toddlers with an axe in hand to surprise us.

Third, the bed in the nursing room lacks room for more monsters beneath. We do though appreciate the ghost on the wall, which scares the living daylight out of the little rats.

Last but not least may we point out that the enchanted armchair on the second floor does not allow a nanny to come asleep through her shift. An old rheumatic, demented nanny needs her R.I.P.

On these minor notes we look forward to future good cooperation and will do our best to keep the little scum in check.

I use higher than this on a 1650Ti! well, mostly. I normally run 128 draw distance and increase it as necessary if flying or whatever.

I wanted to show good spin off between quality and a FPS making SL run smooth with like RTX 3XXX. I mostly run Ultra with all max out and SL looks amazing, but normally with draw distance set to 240 meters on mainland, except as you when sailing then like you 512/1024 meters or say photo of like SL20B sims.

We have the freedom to adjust to individual preferences, activities and wishes and all of us will experience individual mileage depending on OS, hardware.

  5. Is the Power management mode in NVidea Control Panel set to Prefer Maximum Performance? Try and change to Normal in Manage 3D Setting for the viewer you use.

As Wulfie writes lowering maximum framerate also very efficient and  you lower the overall power consumption a lot. You really do not need like 144/165/200+ FPS in SL.

And be sure nothing hinders the air flow cooling on the laptop, dust in fans for example.

  6. The performance of the new AMD 7xxx GPU looks promising, see for example Sapphire Radeon RX 7800 XT Nitro+ review - API Performance: Vulkan vs OpenGL vs DirectX12

The charts show are for Vulcan, DirectX and last OpenGL. If those artificial tests hold RL and for like Second Life, I cannot say.

But it is a good indication that AMD have improved their drivers and of course the brute force of those high end GPU.

All new games use Vulcan and DirectX, have this in mind, when investing in an expensive GPU.

It is one of best SSD, but be aware that is had latest firmware from Samsung, as earlier versions has problems, where data could get lost.

An excellent alternative is WD BLACK SN850X.

I have the cheaper, older WD Black SN770 SSD, it is fast and reliable, if you are on a budget highly recommended.

I noticed this for a while and have been asking how to 'force' the viewer to render the half rendered people. the only solution I have found that sometimes works is derender the people - the go and remove them from the blacklist, and then switch groups to try to get the viewer to render them. sometimes it works, sometimes it don't

I always wondered, why there is no optional "Refresh All Avatars" and "Refresh World" under the menu "World" - this would probably solve a lot of issues most users encounter in Second Life like deformed avatars and missing objects, missing parts of scene.

    Could be this. https://jira.firestormviewer.org/browse/FIRE-33151

But it probably doesn't affect all systems, I don't have it and can't reproduce it with turning shadows off/on (or on/off) on either of my PCs.

    That is the one, thanks.

Not seeing this either on 6.6.14

(GTX1660TI GPU driver 536.23 and AMD Ryzen CPU),

    Windows 10 current build.

Been hearing that there are some issues with Nvidia's 536.99 driver.

Aishagan, it only appears with Firestorm 6.6.14, I reverted back to 6.6.8 (68380) and there, no ghost effects using same GeForce driver 536.99.

  10. I have tried to get the attention on this subject before in busy clubs. To me this is clearly a problem in the viewer code, as the following conditions seldom causes the above:

    1. Arrive as first or among the first in a busy club/site.

All arriving will rezz correctly, at a busy site this of course can take longer.

    2. Use low graphic setting as i.e. default and start with low draw distance like 16 meters.

Wait until avatars within draw distance has rezzed, increase in 8 or 16 meters intervals, wait for avatars within draw distance to rezz before increasing draw distance. When desired draw distance meet (be it 96, 128 or 256 meters), set graphics to your normal preference - I use high or ultra.

Avatars arriving after will rezz normally.

The problem is most pronounced if 40+ avatars in a club.

Tricks shared by hostess in clubs.

Change of group tag to none and then club tag seems to force an update, where avatars will in rezz after some times, which can be minutes.

Zoom out below your self, wait a little and return to normal view, none rezzed objects will rezz and often also will rezz missing avatars.

This only seems to work for ppl with low latency time - I normally have Ping Sim time of 188-224 ms and the tricks mentioned often do not work for me.

OK ty I use the studio driver actually it is still on 531.61 so Ill wait til it updates and see if that solves the issue

In the GeForce forum people report stuttering problems with the previous drivers. So worth taking it easy and see, what NVidia reports back.

NVIDIA response: "Some monitors may contain an invalid EDID which can result in missing resolutions/refresh rates/display issues." They recommend updating monitors firmware.

Game ready drivers: Roll-back to driver 531.58 reported solved problems, for me it was updating to driver 531.79 as mentioned above.

I been noticing lately sometimes at crowded events I get alot of 'stuttering' from time to time ...

    OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 531.61

I experienced problems with the previous GeForce driver versions including 531.61for my RTX 3070. Updating to 531.79 from 2023-05-02 solved it, my PC is very similar to yours and I do not experience stuttering.

    Hey Everyone!

I am having an issue where every viewer that I install will work for a bit but on a random day it would suddenly stop working. The issue is whenever I try to launch the viewer, it just goes into rendering textures or whatever and then white screen and then unresponsive. I am running out of viewers. Started with SL viewer, then Firestorm, Black Dragon etc.

My PC has pretty good specs. I have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super for the graphics card. (all of the drivers are up to date both under device manager and geforce experience)

I have 32gb of RAM and a great motherboard.

Does anyone know of a fix? I have tried uninstalling and installing again, I have tried to clear cache manually and nothing seems to be working. I am running out of viewers to play on.

Besides my RTX 3070 GPU, my motherboard has a build-in Intel GPU. After the recommended auto update of the Intel drivers for Windows 10:

    Intel® Graphics Driver 31.0.101.2121 for 6th-10th Gen Intel® Core™ Processor Graphics, and related Intel Atom®, Pentium®, and Celeron® processors. Version: 31.0.101.2121Release

I experienced, Firestorm hang on start and never finalized initialization. Problems not isolated to Second Life viewer, also my browser Firefox behaved erratic and general overall performance was bad, although system is using the RTX 3070 exclusivly. A role back to previous Intel driver with the Windows 10 system restore solved the problem for me and everything is back into super fast without problems.

Maybe you experience same problem, where the Intel driver causes problems.
