I wasn't going to post here until I had tried it with each option. If I had posted here with only the first uncommented, you (or anybody else) would be within your rights to say, "But have you tried uncommenting the next in the list, trying it, etc?" Therefore, I made sure that I had tried all options before posting.

I've found a temporary workround -- I'm using Firestorm. However, that only underlines that something is wrong with LL SL viewer.

I only uncommented one at a time.

I tried checked in Synaptic Package Manager and found that I did have the 32 bit drivers loaded. Yesterday I decided to swicht to Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon. I have had no end of problems trying to get sound whilst logged in. I've got a Second Life 4.0.6.315555 running on Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit (Build 9200) compatibility mode. real ver: 10.0 (Build 10011). How do I set it up so that I have world on one monitor and chat (and other windows) on my 2nd monitor? I have tried stretching across but that means the world is on both monitors and you still have parts of the world obscured.
