  1. If we got turkeys from America, how come we named them after a country that bridges Europe and Asia?

Or was it the Americans, with their well-honed geographical skills?

[You're from Wales? Isn't that a town near London, England?]

  2. Durkheim has it the wrong way around. Crime is meaningless without law.

The idiot also believed that anything that exists in society must serve a beneficial purpose.

So how does that explain paedophilia, genocide, and, worst of all, kissing a girl when she'd prefer it was Johnny Depp doing it?

[Oh, and also, please leave organised religion out of any discussion of morality; the former has nothing to do with the latter.]

  3. Nvidia definitely!

To experience SL as it should be played, you really need two Titan Z cards.

In fact, I am saving up for a third so I can model the human brain.

[When I said "SL as it should be played", I meant that having those high power cards would enable you to speedily identify the type of avatar who is going to ask you for sex, even if you are the wrong gender, because they are using Intel graphics and seeing clouds against a Fifty Shades of Grey background, and are culturally ignorant so they can't tell that HotBabe2015 Resident is likely to be a bloke playing a Barbie. The other benefit of such a set up is that you can cook bacon sandwiches on the PC case while playing, and crashing, and playing, and crashing, and . . . ]

[Also, when I said I needed a third one, I probably don't for 99% of SL residents; an EGA card would do to display the average of 42 brain cells that it takes to post - and reply to - a question in General Discussions which should obviously be in a Techical forum.]

Consider it a challenge accepted and I will give you the link, or post a pic in here, when I've done it!

Excellent! I shall be extremely interested to see what your focus will be; there are so many emotionally evocative elements of the song and video that I would find it difficult to predict what might affect your muse.

I often get inspired by youtube-clips and find it a fun pasttime to try to recreate the looks of artists or depict the feeling of a song or a quote, not always a success but that's fine!

That sounds like an idea for a continuing thread, along the lines of "Challenge Caity".

    How about this as inspiration?

Ohhh, still in our grumpy corner today too, are we? :matte-motes-impatient:

That's where I sit between rounds.

[Have you ever wondered why they call it a boxing RING when it's square?]

Yes I have wondered all my life ... please tell me why.

  7. I believe she may have made a New Year Resolution not to appear in any forums until she had finished reading David Foster Wallace's "Infinite Jest".

Rumour has it that she is currently on about page 200, out of 1,100, not including the 150 pages of endnotes.

And Wallace doesn't believe in paragraphs.

Which obviously affects Lee's occasional "Wall of Text" style posts.

Extrapolation of her progress suggests she may return just before Christmas.

If she hasn't collapsed in a catatonic coma before then.

[i am currently on page 176.]

    Agreed.

It seems I have always had the ability to make things up which subsequently come true.

[Once I invented an affair between the ugliest bloke in our organisation and the prettiest girl. They got annoyed because it was surprisingly accurate. Their respective spouses got even more annoyed.]

My world, my imagination . . . my, my, my!
