  1. Oh ok, thanks for letting me know. I thought about it, and perhaps the only way to get this type of effect/control is to simply do a skybox. That's probably the best way to control the experience from unwanted things. I was just hoping to get something like that on the ground, so I can benefit from the sun and water effects and being on the 'natural' ground is nice too.
  2. As far as I understand, it's possible to set a draw range, but not set a limit to draw only what's on the parcel you are in. You can limit sounds, media, and voice to the parcel, but not nearby stuff from being rendered. I would like to reduce lag, and reduce all object rendering to just what's contained in the parcel I'm currently in as the owner and apply this to my guests as well. (Maybe they can be given the option to override? Like custom skies.) It would create a much better experience for my guests. Is this possible already or is this functionality not available yet?
  3. Just looking to sell this land before my sub ends. L$1750 or best offer is fine. I'll reply when it's sold. Looking to sell within a week or so. Contact me in game, not here, thanks. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Penning/72/175/71
  4. I was using a Blue Yeti mic and getting that constant relentless problem, but now I'm using a wireless Logitech headset and I get much better results (the problem still happens sometimes, but it's not too bad). The Blue Yeti still works great on everything else like Discord, just not SL.
  5. Hmm, I guess I'll have to give that a try too. If others are having this problem, please post about it. Then maybe they will fix the issue. Thanks!
  6. Hey, thanks for the tip! Any idea of how to fix it if it's the drivers? Maybe try a different microphone? It's strange, because I don't have this problem in Discord or Skype. Just SL.
  7. I use voice often in Second Life all the time, but starting late last year (I believe), my voice only works when others are not talking. When others talk, it cuts off my voice completely (almost, but not always). My mic is still on, and I never let go of the PUSH TO TALK, and yet the green arrows above my head stop, and no one seems to have heard what I said after that. When people talk, they simply cut off my transmission until they are done. It's almost like the priority talk seen in other voice programs like Discord, when an administrator talks it silents everyone else, except it's just me. SOMETIMES, I do not have this problem, or at least it's not as bad. I've tried the Second Life main viewer, I've tried Firestorm as well. Anyone have any idea of what could be causing this and/or how to fix this? THANKS!!!
  8. I've been trying to figure out why my voice becomes spotty in SL. This happens when at least one (but not all) of my Japanese friends talks, if he happens to talk over me (or I over him), it will completely cut off my slvoice from transmitting my voice, but I can still hear just fine and they are not cut off at all... The little green arrows above my avatar stop, and my SLvoice will not work (or become extremely spotty) until he stops talking. If I turn voice on and off a few times while hes talking I may be able to get in a few words. I know I'm not transmitting, because I'll ask if he heard what I just said and he usually says no. Now sometimes we can talk over each other, and my SLvoice won't just suddenly stop working, but it's like a 25% chance. Sometimes I just turn it on and off until i come through, and I have to constantly watch for the green arrows to know what actually went through.... This is a VERY annoying problem, especially when we often talk fast and over each other a bit. When I'm in a group of people, and there is one or more people that cuts my SL voice off entirely, it makes it difficult or near impossible to talk at all. It feels like it's only when certain people are around, but I can't be certain. I'm using the SL main browser, but I tried Firestorm as well and had the same problem. I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this.
  9. Hello, I use SL Voice a lot but when I get in groups of 4 or more, sometimes not right away, but soon enough my voice just doesn't transmit properly anymore... It either doesn't activate (or doesn't catch my voice maybe) when I use push to talk, or cuts off early. It's as if, I suddenly have a very bad SL voice connection, and yet can hear everyone fine (they just can't hear me properly)... Even though nothing has changed from 15min ago when there were less than 4 people, I start getting significant problems. I use push to talk. I have fast cable internet, and have no problems doing anything else in SL (including hearing others properly). I use Firestorm viewer, with cable connecting in the settings. (I'd like to continue using this if possible) I talk with people from around the world, and they all come in clearly and consistently to me and with each other. (it's just me with transmitting issues) Any ideas on how to fix this? THANKS!
  10. Thanks for the responses! Wouldn't both of these methods require an SQL database to save the status info so random viewers to my website who may not even play SL be able query the database to see the current status? I guess I just don't see how the status information is remembered by the website. I tried your method first, since I wasn't sure how to setup the LSL scripting with the first one, and it works in game, but doesn't seem to update on my website. Is a simple <div id="store"></div> sufficient?
  11. So I'd like to create prim with a menu through LSL that sends a signal to my website and tells people my cafe is open/closed. I've worked on some simple scripts before, but never tried something like this that goes to a website. I'm not sure where to start. If I have to build the script, I'll try, but if anyone knows of any free ones, a tutorial, past posts related to this, or has any tips I would appreciate it. My website supports php if needed. Thanks!
  12. I have a 512 lot linden house, but i want to move to mainland. I want to buy land from someone who wants to buy different land. She says that we might have to wait a month, because in the past she got charged for the next tier of land 1024, even though she only owned 512. She suggested we wait a month after abandoning the land, then buy new land... I guess my question is, if I have 512 land, and I give it up, can I go buy a different 512 land the same day, and not be charged at the 1024 level right? It seems obvious to me, that as long as you never own two plots of land at 512 you never go above 1024 right? I want to be careful, so I thought I would ask here first.
  13. Oh, the Home tab on SL is a good feature. I never really noticed it until now. I just have to get in the habit of using it. I wonder if my friends use it, or completely ignore it like I have up until now...
  14. I rarely post here, so I'm not sure if this is the right area, but I think it would be very beneficial for organizing and commucation with my friends if there was a comment section after my name in my friends list. That way, when people look at their friends list to see who's on, they can put a little comment after their name saying what they are doing, or what they want to do. You could even make it so when they log off, it disappears. That way, it has to be something they've added lately. For example, when I login, instead of contacting friends one by one to see if they want to hangout, I could just simply put a comment next to my name that will appear in the friends list that says if anyone wants to join me just let me know. Other friends, as they log on can see that message too. That way I don't have to keep inviting people as they log on, they can simply see what or when I plan on doing something. This type of indirect invite is much easier to do too. I'm not a fan of inviting people directly. I don't want to invite all my friends to a group... :matte-motes-grin:
  15. Hello, I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with viewing meshes. I have a premium house on SL, and when I spawn some mesh chairs in my house, they look ok until I zoom out and then they get all crazy looking. When I turn the graphics on the highest possible, it seems like I can view them from further away without them going all crazy on me, but still if I zoom out a bit further they get all messed up again until I zoom back in and they appear fine agian. Anyone have ideas why this is the case? (oh, and these look good to others, just not me.) My graphics card: Radeon HD 6850 Thanks.
