  1. At Grinders there are actual live singers doing shows for your entertainment. When there are no shows the stage is open for karaoke where anyone can sing along to their favourite backing tracks on voice or stream. All levels and genres welcome. We don't mind people having fun but also show respect to other singers. You can find Grinders at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bubblegum/214/99/22 Please visit and let us know what you think.
  2. The bolded part, I mean, when I sit in the chairs with scripts I am faced with a fixed view. If I press arrows nothing happens, if I hold the ALT key and click somewhere, the camera can move again but it will rotate around the object clicked on. Usually you can sit on a chair and press left and right to rotate yourself to get a good view. Dora has duplicated my problem at the demo bar. (Thanks for looking Dora!!).
  3. No escape doesnt help. I can click alt and start moving that way but as I said that isnt supposed to be the case. I dont want to have to do different things to everyone else, not without a reason. (something isnt right isnt a good enough reason lol)
  4. OK, I will tell the creator, how would that not affect them when they sit? What setting might they have or I have to allow/dis-allow? Im thinking of my visitors more than solving it just for me.
  5. Hi, I have a problem, I have found a selection of bar stools, tables and chairs I really like but when I sit on the seats the camera goes into a fixed front facing position, at the bar it will be between 2 people as if it was planned. I press the arrow keys to look around but nothing happens. If I sit on most seats this is never a problem (AO on or off). So because i have a club, I want the sitters to be able to see all around, the acts on stage and the tip jars. I contacted the seller, she said that when she sits on the seats she has no problem moving the camera with arrows, she then asked the person that applies the animations to the chairs to look into it, again they couldnt duplicate my problem and said they cant look into it any further as it works for them, they advised I try the singularity viewer.. I tried the SL viewer, firestorm and singularity all with same issue. Im kind of glad its the same on all as I was not going to ask people to switch viewers for this, and I was shocked to be asked to switch myself actually. They have a few other chairs nearby, the same issue is not with all of them, it seems to be the farther away I get from the bar I want the less issues I have. I first found the bar at another club and the issue was there, this was the reason I went to the demo area to see if that club owner did something wrong, but its the same. when I logged in via Singularity I had this pop up: "Your movement keys are now being handled by an object. Try the arrow keys or AWSD to see what the do. Some objects (like guns) require you to go into mouse look to use them. press ‘M” to do this." The bar is at: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/La%20Galleria/9/188/26 if you try to sit and move the keys on any seat in my place (animations or not) the cam will turn and I want it too. round the corner from the bar is some arm chairs, same fixed position there. If you leave the bar and turn right then right again at the kitchen/mesh area it starts to work. even the box at the bar works normally. either way I need to fix this if it is my end and need to know whats causing it, or if I can tell the owner what is wrong to get them to look at it. they are saying nothing is wrong. I do want this bar, its too expensive to buy and then use other stools, I cant find a bar I like better so those are not good options. The only way I can move cam is by holding alt first, this is not a fix its an awkward workaround that I dont think is ok to settle with. Hopefully someone can recognise the issue and shed some light. thanks in advance.
  6. They make people who are serious about this really pay through the nose! If it was cheaper then more people would pay up, giving them more money. I have decided not to bid on the auction because of that. meaning my money doesnt leave the bank.. now they have to rely on making double from someone else to make up for it, really doesnt make sense that people pay up!
  7. So I would be forced to pay $75 for first month for owning land as an individual for 20 seconds. that sounds like the kind of mentality I expect from LL. Not sure I would ever do that lol
  8. I need to know Im right on this one before going ahead. Me and my partner have found some mainland in auction that we really want. It costs more than we wanted to spend but we can subdivide and abandon some of it, bringing the tier down (please advise if this is correct). So now for the tricky part, I dont want to get stung by buying the land as an individual. because the land is over the tier, we need to buy for group, which will have 1x premium user donating 512sqm plus the 10% group free land. the land we are looking at is 9500sqm ($75 per month) but if I add up from the next tier down: 8192sqm ($40 per month) + 512sqm (Donated from premium) = 8704sqm + 10% = 9574sqm (8192+512*1.1=9574.4) this would be great for 9500 land correct? I just want to make sure my arithmatic is correct and need to know how to be sure I dont get charged the $75 per month, I know if you buy land as an individual and THEN donate it to group you get all sorts of issues paying twice etc. so I am looking to avoid them.
  9. I thought that might be it just after I posted, things are so tricky, so many ways you can end up spending more than you thought. Buying land before donating to a group may cost double for instance. But that's why I came to you guys to save me the pain hehe. Thanks again it's much appreciated!
  10. Thanks, I've seen that person say about the deduction on a few posts and they seem to be a posting in forums regularly. I have been confused for days with the tiers. I'm sure the numbers are wrong in the examples on the tier prices page. Example Two. You hold 1024 sqm of land and donate 512 sqm to a group. Subtract your 512 sqm bonus lease. Your Monthly Land Use fee is US$8. $8 is for 1024 so they subtract half but price is still full? As long as my calculations are correct and I can create a group, both of us donate our 512sqm premium to the group and then I buy up to 5632sqm for the group I'll be happy as long as that keeps me under $25. I will look into renting mainland for cheaper, I just don't like restrictions or the risk of buying from people. Buying from LL gives me more peace of mind. Shame I couldn't trade the free land in for $10 off the next tier tho. Thanks again for the info!
  11. I've been searching the forum and I keep finding people saying different things. I will explain my situation to see if it makes a difference in the answers I receive. I am looking to get the most amount of land I can for $25 per month, unless you can get money back somehow (see at the end) The tier for $25 allows 4096sqm Now, there will be 2 of us as premium members creating a group, so I should be right in thinking that if we both donate our 512sqm that should allow the group to own land of 4096sqm + 1024 = 5120 Additionally there is a 10% free bonus to groups so does that apply to the total? Making it 5120 +10% = 5632? If that is correct, I am the one that will be creating the group and buying the land, so what is the best way to do it? I need to know all steps before I do anything. I haven't got premium membership yet and don't like to play around making mistakes. Do I create the group, then donate my 512 land, my partner donates theirs, then I buy land anywhere under 5632? This would be $12.50 per month split (25/2=12.5) On another post someone said that you get $5 taken off the tier, another post said the 512sqm gets added. The problem is I don't want to spend $40 on the next tier ($20 each split) but if we both donated the 512sqm and got 2x$5 off it be worth paying the extra $2.50 to get the extra prims. (40-10=30/2=15) Even if lose 1024sqm for getting the money off it be far more prims. Then I could get land of 7167sqm (8191-1024) Here is quote from another post: "First, if your land is group owned, the group can own up to 10% more land for free. So if your group owns a 4096 then you can add 409 extra square meters too it and still pay for just the 4096.. If both of you donate you 512 free tier to the group, you will get 10.00 off the tier fee. So your group can own up to 4505sqm and pay for just the 4096 minus $10US" It was on answers section. I would much prefer the option to have $10 off the $40 per month, how do I make sure I do that right?
  12. I have an idea for a piece of land, it's still work in progress so I won't go into it. I want to do this idea with a friend/partner. I want to make sure I understand how land tiers are calculated and a few other things. 1) firstly the tier system, as far as I can see, if the sqm doesn't reach the next tier you are still paying the lower, is that correct? Example: 1/32 region 2048 sqm allows 468 prims, costing US$15 per month 1/16 region 4096 sqm allows 937 prims, costing US$25 per month 1/8 region 8192 sqm allows 1875 prims, costing US$40 per month 1a) If I found land at 2048, 2999 or 3455 then it will have different amounts of prims but am I right in thinking that these all cost $15 per month as it has not reached 1/16 region 4096sqm? If I find land that is 4097 this is in the 1/16 region and should cost $25 per month If I find land that is 4095 this is in the 1/32 region and would cost $15 per month Even if it is a mere 2sqm difference. Please exclude for now (question 1a) the bonus lease 512sqm as that will be part of the next question and will complicate matters. 1b) That brings me to the bonus lease of 512sqm for premium members. I can only buy land as a premium member, therefor I have 512sqm bonus lease included. I can either claim a linden home or I can donate it to a group. The land I buy will be between me and my partner, I will be doing the finding, buying and setting up. So to update the previous example; If I find land that is 4097 this is in the 1/16 region and should cost $25 per month, then taking the 512sqm bonus lease I have and donating it to the group, does that mean I can deduct 512 from 4097, leaving my billable land at 3585sqm, now being a 1/32 region costing $15? If that is true, then if I find land that is 4095 this is in the 1/32 region and would cost $15 per month. The bonus lease would bring billable land to 3583sqm and as it is still 1/32 region will remain at $15 per month. The 2 sqm difference would not be such a big deal this time. 1c) Assuming I have understood correctly, let's take this into a group owned purchase. As mentioned I will be joining forces with a friend, if I donate my bonus lease to the group and so does he, does that make whatever land I find get a billable sqm of 1024 less than the land I buy? i.e. If I find land that is 5119 this is in the 1/16 region and should cost $25 per month, then taking the 512sqm bonus lease I have and donating it to the group and the partners 512sqm does that mean I can deduct 1024 from 5119, leaving our billable land at 4095sqm, now being a 1/32 region costing $15? If I have misunderstood please let me know how the provided scenarios would work out. Please do not make up new scenarios or suggest I do something different. This is about understanding not what is a better idea. 2) If there is no covenant on the land, it's allowed to be resold and subdivided, how do I know how many avatars are allowed at one time? Also it is a business idea we have so there will be advertising, store sales and perhaps entertainment such as a small bar with maybe a dj. I'm not sure if there are different lands for different purposes. If I was buying land for a relaxing home I wouldn't have an issue. Please let me know if there is something I need to check before buying. 3) this is about security, I will be the group creator, I haven't made the group yet as I still need to work all this out. 3a) If I buy the land, I need to donate my bonus lease and the new land to the group, is that correct? If not what is it I do? We want group to own it. If complicated I will be the owner. 3b) How do we pay the tier separately? it would be better if we both paid our own to a terminal in halves. 3c) I will be purchasing the buildings and most of the content. My partner may buy a few things but we will be equal in the group. This is because they are donating their bonus lease and paying 50% of the tier. If something goes wrong and one of us backed out for whatever reason, could either of us steal the other persons belongings? Is it safe to give each other rights to edit things? Worried about things that have no copy and once rezzed they are no longer in inventory. Don't want to lose expensive items. 3d) As the owner do I get to move things that my partner has added? Example: they put a table on in the main room but it's floating off the ground but was done while I was away, they are not available for a week and it looks bad, they haven't given me permissions, as landowner and group creator do I get that extra right to move things? If so what are my limits? Can my items go missing or be accidentally deleted for any reason by partner? How do I ensure nothing can go wrong with inventory rezzed items? If it's secure I may invite more people into the group to expand and get bigger land. Thanks for reading, any help on the above is appreciated, u don't need to answer every section to help, just what u know will be great. Sorry it's so long!!
