I have been encountering the same exact problem in trying to log on using my SL account. Using SL Viewer and Firestorm on Windows 7 with my Norton firewall set to allow both programs through, I have been unable to log on for the last several weeks and cannont get past the region handshake process. Unlike the original poster here, I have a very strong internet connection and my desktop is connected to my cable modem via ethernet. A couple of minutes ago just after my latest login failure, my speedtest results were 16ms on the ping, 64 megabits per sec download, and 10 megabits upload. I don't know how the first poster resolved the issue but I sure would like to find out whats going on and how to fix this problem.
