B: it is for medical reasons, not for gaming or entertainment.

My niece is an MBA. Very hard-working, brilliant, dedicated and successful girl in her mid 20s. My nephew is 30 plus, also a very successful guy who has the power to decide if folks get a house loan or not. Yet none of them have any idea of how a directory works. Their iPhones just fill up and get slower, and none of them have any idea of why that happens, so they need a new one. There is a technological age gap here, admit it or not.

As a lower-end-of-30-something I find that rather shocking, to be honest. By the time I started high school there wasn't a one of us my age who didn't know how to use folders, in fact even before then we often had the option to write school works and essays on the computer and everyone was running around with USB sticks to take stuff home to finish or into school to print. Those processes were done entirely manually, both getting files off and on USB sticks, in and out of your personal folder on the school network, and into the printer queue, were all done via directories. Also to keep the school IT guy from nuking Liero and Soldat for us, we'd just hide the games in random person's folders (although sometimes we had to install them again because we'd lost track of where we put them or because the student in question ran to ask him what all the weird stuff in their folders were). And when he caught us playing games and banned our school network logins we just locked him out and unbanned ourselves and held the entire school IT hostage until we were unbanned (which we usually were when we totally pinkie-swore we wouldn't play games on the school computers .. Which, on average, lasted 5 minutes, tops). Also pranked people by putting random junk in their essays if they were silly enough to actually use their personal folders in the school system (which were about as private as a sex swing in a greenhouse) - everyone knew (eventually) that the only way to avoid getting into an awkward conversation with the teacher about how their essay on Greek mythology was just a filthy 'love letter' to the teacher in question was to hand them a paper or a USB stick rather than them fetching the document from your turn-in folders.

And of course most of us had already gotten into piracy by middle school, which at the time was entirely based on sharing X amounts of data to be allowed into the nicer, faster servers with all the cool stuffs, which again, was all done via directories. And because, usually, it was easier (and sometimes quicker) to download an album than to rip it yourself (and you needed to, because, mp3-players - speaking of which, it's also how we put music into our mp3-players, which also had their own directories to represent albums and artists, or making playlists, etc, and for a long, long time, no one went anywhere without their mp3 players), everyone was doing it.

I can't notice a difference in the bodies except that the dimples on the butt are craters and I hate that. I'd never wear it with clothes that showed that part of the body.

Did you update it to LaraX 1.1? They softened the butt-dimples a fair bit after people complained. They're still there, but they're a bit less .. Crater-y.

Other than that, there's a fair few differences between the two, although most of them are rather subtle. The biggest difference is that the rear got a little larger and rounder, and that the shoulders were totally remodelled (which in turn has shifted the arm position slightly; the combination is why most Lara tops won't work on it unless they're strapless and sleeveless, and even then the subtle differences to the torso itself may be just enough to make some Lara clothes too tight, especially around the flanks of the ribcage), and that the crotch area has become quite different (the thigh joints deepened whilst the mons pubis became more pronounced, making it a lot 'bumpier'). But yeah, if you're wearing something that covers the shoulders (and crotch) it's really hard to tell which of the two it is at a glance.

How are folks doing with moving to LaraX?

It's a little rocky at times, but then I'm not the kind of person who gets excited by 'generic H&M-esque dress no.14', I want pieces that either are versatile and can be worked into other outfits (but having 2-3 tank tops is sufficient, I don't see why I'd need a 4th one). But I do feel that, whilst a fair few 'alternative' style clothiers have dropped Maitreya completely, some of the best (IMO) brands did grab onto LaraX fast, which is good.

I still swap back to Lara every now and then to wear specific stuff that doesn't work with LaraX, but almost all my new purchases are all LaraX, and overall I think that the LaraX section of my wardrobe is pretty decent.

  5.    I think I might be a little peeved. But mostly just .. Confused.

Was demoing a dress. And, as the demo only has the fatpack HUD with it, I went to peek at the info notecard to see if it contained any information of what features are available to the single colour HUDs. Second line in the notecard states 'XYZ is a black-owned brand'. Um, all right .. And? So? What?

I just don't understand the relevancy. Is it supposed to somehow influence whether or not I shop there? Am I not welcome as a customer for being of another ethnicity? It was a totally normal dress that wouldn't stand out if you saw it in a H&M store, so it's not like the product could somehow cause a 'cultural appropriation' situation. Or do they suggest I should shop there because of some peculiar redistribution-of-wealth-to-empower-certain-ethnic-groups thing?

I kinda just buy stuff I like, nothing else really matters to me. I might recoil a bit if I look up a creator's profile to find their in-world store/social media info and find a swastika or hammer & sickle in the profile pic, but other than that .. Meh?

Marianna was standing at the welcome HUD today just minding her own business trying to find hair and some random dude walked up to her and asked her to go to his place for romance. lol I had no hair, was in pose mode and no shoes, she was a mess!

I guess she was just his type! People have weird tastes.

  7.    A crush, no. Felt a lot of attraction to, sure.

Thing is, a 'crush' is something I think of as idolisation of an individual, in a rather juvenile sense - it may cause you to daydream and fantasise about being together. And sure, that happened a lot when I was a child/teenager. But I'm no longer that, and whilst I certainly can appreciate attractive people it's not as if I waste my time dreaming of how wonderful it would be to be with a person just because their avi is enticing. I require more than good looks to be interested, I need a person to have a personality I enjoy, too.

There are times I spot a nice-looking avi, gloss through the profile and say to myself 'oh, too bad they present themselves to seem to be an absolute b!tch'. And then I move along, and probably have forgotten all about them a few moments later. I'm much more likely to feel attraction to a person whose avatar might not be very attractive, if I find the contents of their profile to be agreeable - to a point, of course; it'd take a hell of a personality for me to 'get feels' for someone who look like they were designed with an etsy-sketch.

  8.    Hm, this comes up every so often. It could be a few different things happening though, so if you could add a picture of your avatar for reference it would be easier to point at which issue is at play.

You may be able to find the answer by browsing this thread, as many of the potential issues are addressed (although some are more body-specific to that case): Neck seam post #729

It's also important to remember that people have odd proportions in real life so avatars don't have to be proportionate

I think this is very important to understand when designing your avatar. Yes, there are proportional guidelines, which may be useful, but they aren't 'hard rules' about how a human being looks. That said, I think that there are certain choices people make which very quickly make an avatar look surreal; having a head the size of an orange, having arms that barely reach the waist, etc. Some avatars just make you wonder what species they're trying to present as.

Why do face skin creators make face skins with a sharp edge instead of building the fade right into the face skin? A tattoo layer can include a fade on the upper body (neck to shoulders) tattoo section.

It's not a matter of 'this is hard to do', it's a matter of 'it's easy to fix with a tattoo so why should I bother doing it right'.

Seems a lot of skin creators rather focus their efforts on photoshopping their adverts to shift products rather than making products decent enough to get sales by merit of its quality.

So. My sister asked me how she's supposed to layer if the skin she wants to wear is a tattoo layer and not a skin layer.

She will still need to wear any different skin as a skin layer - it's one of the components of an avatar that are required at all times. But, skins still can be designed to use tattoo layers; if using such a skin, the only thing to really keep in mind is that you'll want to always (almost) wear it at the very bottom of your list of tattoos. Other than that there's no real difference whether it's on a skin layer or a tattoo layer.

A very common thing is that the body's skin is on the skin layer, and then the facial skin is on a tattoo layer (and, with EvoX UVs, the ears on a universal layer) - or vice versa. So often you'll need to wear both a skin and a tattoo.

She found a shape that she love, love, loved but when she adds the tattoo skin, she has a really noticeable neck line.

A lot of skins have that, there's a seam in the mesh but also seams between the UV maps along the same line; therefor it's very common that those seams become visible. It can be alleviated with neck blenders though, you can find them in stores such as Izzie's.

  12.    Hmm. It's a bit difficult to tell what exactly is going on, there could be a fair few things.

The sky setting you used when taking the picture of your avi appears to have the sun very high in the sky, it shines down, which emphasises the materials' nasolabial folds. The eyebrows seem very different, this could either be the 'brow base' or a facial animation, same with the eye sockets feeling a bit different. The lip shape is a little hard to tell with the opaque lipstick you're wearing, it could be that the lipstick itself is smudged over the edge of the lip itself making it rounder. And the zoom you've taken your pic with is too low, creating a bit of a fisheye effect which distorts everything enough that it becomes difficult to compare the facial structure accurately. As far as I can tell, the shape itself seems to be accurate, there's just too many other variables that do not match up to get the same effect as the advert.

That's why I've been saying sexual underage play all this time because that's what's wrong and what that person is actually being accused of, just no one actually research what it is.

The allegation is simply 'possession/creation/distribution of depiction of minor(s) in a sexual situation'. It's not the fact that people role play something that makes it illegal; it's the avies used to do so (because, yes, digitally rendered and drawn depictions are included in those laws).

If you took a clearly adult avatar and popped on a diaper, it might qualify for the RL term's definition of A.P., but .. Would it get identified as an underage avi unfit for A-rated activities according to the TOS? Probably not, I'd think? Unless you're <6'8, of course.

And, as always, it's up to the land owner to decide whether or not to chuck you out of their venue for it. It may or may not be because they think wearing diapers is weird and might make the other patrons uncomfortable - they don't need any actual reason.
