  1. I tried a demo of the Legacy body the other day. The mesh gaps when at a distance from the sea level (i.e. when in a skybox) were too much for me. That and the neck seam being way off, as well as the price, made me not want to invest in one. It's too bad, really, because the body looks very nice and smooth compared to my current (Maitreya) body, but those kinks just are too much of a bother to deal with in my opinion. That and the whole, it's made by TMP thing.
  2. Beware standalone ears. I get it, the ears on certain heads aren't particularly high detail and may come off as a bit blocky - but many of the high-poly ears out there on the market will have a significant impact on your complexity. 20-30K per ear isn't uncommon. Besides, getting the skin colour to match from your head to ears can be a PITA; get it right in one WL and in the next it'll look like you dipped your hearing apparatus in bleach. For photography it's fine to use a different ear than those that come with the head, as long as you can tint them to match your skin for your lighting setup, but when you're out and about I reckon more people would notice a gross mismatch of colour than your ears not being smooth as baby's bottoms.
  3. Is it just me, or are the quotations and re-posts in this thread getting all confusing? I'm not entirely guilt-free of the occasional banter or discussion, but the picture to page ratio feels as if it has dropped significantly as of late ...
  4. Doing a full body shot. They're difficult. So I figured I'd swoop in and do a portrait as well, in case I decide to ditch the whole shoot. Unedited shot.
  5. I put a few things on my wishlist on occasion, in case I want to purchase something later. I don't advertise it in any way though. It's just easier than having a half million tabs open in my browser for things I might want to get later. Cat occasionally sneaks on there and buys me something, though.
  6. 'Necessarily'? That's not what I said - try again! Second Life is not a game, it's a virtual world. It's not rooted in role play as much as being a social and creative platform. A lot of (perhaps 'most') people in Second Life do not role play, many even resent the idea. If you were looking for role play, though, then your thread should have been posted in the role play section, not the in-world employment. Have I ever stated the contrary? No, I have not. I warned you that, in the past, a lot of people have had negative experiences with pretentious 'schools' offering tutelage in exchange for money - or even 'special favors'. If that's what you want, then knock yourself out - if that's not what you want, be critical of what you do find as to avoid fraud. I'm sorry for trying to be nice? Any role play community which has expenditures, such as land fees or tiers, need some sort of revenue unless its owners or benefactors are willing and able to pay for it out of their own pockets; there's nothing weird with that. The only reason I brought it up is, there has been threads in the past on these forums, from people who have presented various 'certificates' and 'degrees' from modeling schools and expected that it would give them actual modeling positions. People being unable to keep role play and actual business apart is no good; and you've posted in the 'looking for work' board, not the 'role play' board. You're projecting emotion onto a non-emotive text; I don't much care what tone of voice, expression or body language you perceive in the absence of such. I asked you a question, loaded only with the ammunition you yourself provided. Had I been <insert popular model reality show judge>, would you feel it a harsh question - or one attempting to prompt you to declare actual merits if such existed? That is a category which you (and others) make. Categorising phenomena around us is natural, but sometimes it's unfortunate - I don't attack or troll people for funsies, nor do I wrap my queries with cotton candy. I perceived gaps in your original post and tried to get you to fill them so as to avoid having to project my own expectations. Because you are a newbie on the forums, I tried to warn you to be wary as the modeling scene in Second Life has many dark sides to it which one might not want to jump head-on into without scrutiny. It was meant as an act of kindness, but because of your projection of emotion, you turned it into cruelty - I can't take responsibility for your perception.
  7. I'm looking to employ a few new photography models. It's been a while since I properly worked with any and figure it may be a mutually beneficial deal for all parties involved. My photography portfolio can be viewed HERE. Applicants may be of any gender, ethnicity or even non-human (although 'humanoid' is preferred). These will not be paid positions, the deal is as follows; you'll get to do-up your avatar pretty much however you like, I'll take your picture and edit it as I see fit (input will be welcomed, though), the photo will contain my signature but you will be free to use it for any (business or leisure) applications that you wish (blogging, store ads, etc.), with the only condition being that I'm credited for taking the shot. If you have any questions regarding that, feel free to ask! I will be selecting the models through trials which will begin next week (I'll be away for the weekend and return on Tuesday), and depending on the amount of applicants I hope to have made the selection by the 25th at the latest - last day of application is Sunday the 18th, noon CET (that's 03.00 AM SLT). If you wish to apply, please send a note card to me in-world - make sure to include your name and "application" in the note card's name; the content of the note card can be anything that you want it to be - consider it an extension of your personal profile where you may want to mention anything which you consider to be of merit to the position. Requirements: You must be able to read and write in English (alternatively Swedish). No translators. You must have a schedule which allows for at least one photography appointment to begin between circa 16.00-21.00 CET on any weekday of your choice. You must have an in-world wardrobe that either already is expansive, or which you intend to expand on with some regularity. Meriting 'stuff': Being a pose-maker. Not being a mainstream fashion bore. Building skills (like, knowing how to adjust accessories' rotation and position). For the trial: Each applicant is asked to put together 3 complete looks, including hair, make-up (if applicable), apparel, accessories, as well as a separate pose for each getup. After a brief interview, I will shoot three shots of this in a simple studio setting. The shots (unedited) as well as the content of your application and interview will then be used for the selection process. Note that whilst I'm fine with shooting mature content, each outfit must contain some sort of apparel! If you have any urgent questions that requires an answer before Tuesday, please contact @Catrie and she will relay any questions to me via Discord. Pic for attention and because I can?
  8. Honestly, I don't see the point within SL. A creator is a creator, whether you're making apparel, houses, trees or sculptures - who's to say one creator's products is worth saving and another's isn't? The whole 'I'm an artist, I want special treatment' mentality is just sickening. It's virtual objects, you can replicate them into infinity - put them up for sale like any normal creator would, and if people appreciate your stuff, then your business should be able to stand on its own legs. If you want to upload virtual pictures of something you've painted, the cost for a texture upload is L$10 - rent a small venue to showcase your work, put up a tip jar or let people buy copies of your work to bring home with them. Networking and advertising sort of comes with the 'job' of being a creator, regardless of what you make.
  9. I haven't seen or heard of any lately. I don't see what purpose they'd fill either - most creators either use their own avatars (or alts) for product ads, or simply shoot their product in Daz3D. Most people involved in the photography/blogging scene just ask people whose work/avatars they enjoy if they want to do collaborative shots, or ask their friends to model for them. Besides, most modeling agencies/schools I've heard of in the past have been ripoffs, trying to make money out of people desperate for the glamour they associate with it, or just been role play which didn't contain any actual photography or stuff. I'm curious though, how come you think you should get to avoid the recruitment and selection processes. And posting in the inworld employment board, are you expecting to be paid for it?
  10. Where did that prim go, when I tried to rez it there, it did not appear.
  11. @Matty Luminos - Oh, you are one-armed. Or half-armed? I noticed this on another picture and figured it might just be the angle of the pose and camera position somehow spiriting it away, but I got really confused about where the arm went. One mystery solved, another discovered. 🤔
  12. Irrational people who, after a while of arguing, get the idea that you agree with them when you've thoroughly butchered every argument they've brought forth, and take that as you fully agreeing with their every opinion ever. I'm not sure if it's a masochistic rhetorical device or if they're just that stupid. Either way, it makes me pull back.
  13. As a font, Comic Sans isn't really 'evil'. It's informal, and as long as it doesn't cause people problems reading the message - the problem is that people used it for flipping everything, including business mails and printed notices. It quickly got over-used in a very amateurish manner which quickly made it just inappropriate as it signaled ignorance.
  14. Europe and the European Union are not synonymous. Europe is a continent with several nations, the European Union is a union of most (but not all) of those nations. The EU does not control everything within those countries, they are still sovereign states; whether one thinks that the current amount of centralized power is good or bad is a matter of personal opinion. Britain had a democratic vote about whether to remain in the EU or not, and they voted to leave - whether I am 'for' or 'against' it has absolutely nothing to do with anything, I'm not even from Britain myself. What do you base that assumption on, that I just have a vague idea? I have been professionally involved with charity work.
  15. Ever tried speaking through a snorkel? Or screaming? I did the latter, when 9 year old me came face to face (like, inches) with a moray eel. I also almost got poked by by a snail I found on the beach and brought to my dad - it was one of the only two creatures on the chart on the beach with 3 skulls next to it.
  16. There's reason to the madness. Punk began as an anti-consumerism movement that proposed you do your own thing, both in regards to apparel, style and music. The Gothic subculture is one of the many post-punk genres which kept many attributes (though these days there are so many sub-genres of Goth, many of them seemingly entirely removed from Punk). Metal is a development of Rock, and whilst not directly affiliated with the Punk movement, the two styles were developed roughly around the same time (60's-70's), as did Glam (70's). Fashion is fashion, so that people within the different styles borrowed and were inspired by each other is no surprise - and these days some of the many branches springing from the original styles have mingled; Hardcore (Metal-Punk), Industrial/Gothic Metal, Glam Punk (Mock-Rock) ...
  17. "Welcome to my kingdom madness, you're just in time for the show. Welcome to my world of darkness, a place where unreal becomes real. Come drink my blood, wake the demon in me; Come taste the wine of my sins!"
