  2. Thank you. Yes I use the RGB or yes I use the move down opacity? I'm not quite understanding using the RGB channels, even via Robin's site. :)Mystic
  3. Hi! I am trying to understand how to make more sheer clothing using GIMP. I've looked at Robin Woods alpha channel blog as I figured it probably has something to do with that. I was dropping the opacity down on the layers, but that doesn't seem to be the right thing. That just makes it lighter on the person. I have laces I want to use, but I want them to look more transparent, not invisibile. :) Is this done somehow through the RGB channels? or is there another way? Thanks so much! :) Mystic
  4. Thank you both! Pixel by pixel.. oh boy. Time to put the good music on and start pixeling
  5. I've been making system clothing, mainly dresses. I have textures that are 'glittery'. What I am trying to figure out is how do people get that specialized edging on an outfit? Like along the bodice line that is all jeweled looking? I was debating going to look for appliques on the internet like you would use in real life sewing. I'm using GIMP and if I use a 'brush' Ive only been able to get it to be a solid color. Pulled a picture from Marketplace (a Utopia dress) to visually show what I mean just as an example. The lacing that goes down the middle. I've seen that on edges that is sometimes lace, sometimes glittery, etc. Thank you! Khrista
  6. Thank you everyone! This gives me a few different things to try and/or a combination of them. I figure I'll end up with blender at some point. Didn't realize there was a free version I could d/l to try. I had wondered about the flowers like the one: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/White-Flowers-Builders-Kit-Mesh-Full-Perm/5578344 Looks like that particular one comes with each piece that I could then edit inworld? Otherwise, if it didn't include each piece I'd have to do so via blender? Thanks again! Mystic
  7. Hi. I've been making system clothing now with Gimp and enjoying doing so. I have seen outfits that have say a 3-D flower attachment around the neckline, or across a bodice/skirt, etc. What would I use to do that? Or is there a place to go buy those parts? I've looked for sculpties, but I haven't had any luck. Would love to add to my designs, but can't find the information on how to do so. Would love any help or suggestions on how to get started or where to go. Thank you! Mystic :)
  8. Ok. Wasn't mesh.. was a texture with a clothing pattern? in it so will go give the system clothing a try. Thank you!
  9. I've slowly been figuring out how to modify clothing etc. using GIMP. I've done all the saving, exporting etc. I've importing into SL with Firestorm. I've done the create alpha and put that onto it. Now I'm stuck at what to do next. From what I can find, I'm supposed to upload a model? However I'm getting an error message when I do so to use Firestorm and not an open something another. Odd since I'm using Firestorm to start with. How do I get what I want into actual clothing now? Thank you!! MysticDraggy :)
  10. Thanks so much for the help! I'll definiteily check out GIMP as I hadn't heard about that one before. :)Mystic
  11. I'm wondering if it is possible to design with Photoshop Elements? So far I was doing great up until I hit the point to use a 'pen' to delete some stuff. I think I can do a work around using shapes, but not sure I'll run into another snag or not. Thanks! MysticDraggy
