Apparently I made another mistake..this time, creating a new subject. Auction Bots. Either I didn't hit enter..or it got pulled. Trying to bid on a piece of property I lost by mistake, I bid 10 and before I can finish blinking somebody else had posted a bid for 11. Over and over. Either a bizarre coincidence..or maybe there is a bot reacting to auction bids. If this is true, then ordinary folks like me don't stand a chance when a bot is set in motion. I don't mind being outbid by a person.....but I do mind being manipulated by the sort who use bots. Grrrr.

You can set a max amount of Linden you are willing to buy the parcel for. This amount is hidden from others but if the person is out bid it will outbid in turn. It's not a bot but a feature on the site you can use as well.

I'm confused about where "the free 1024" m² arose in this calculation. I'd guess that the OP and wife each pay tier on 1024 m² and each have their Premium "bonus" 1024 m², totaling the 4096 m² they have now. So if they group contribute that entire 4096, they'll get an extra 409 m² of "group bonus" tier. Because land comes in 16 m² increments, they could use up to 400 m² of that themselves.

Note that using "Make contribution with deed" or "Buy for group" won't need to contribute the entire amount to the group, only enough to cover the land being contributed, so to see the full effect they'd then need to manually top-out the contribution in the group's "Land" tab.

(A useless observation about land use fees: It's possible to save a whopping US$ 1 / month by paying for one 2048 tier increment instead of two 1024s. I was surprised how small this "savings" is.)

Premium accounts get a free 1024sqm, tier free. That's where it comes from.

How do you rent a parcel? do you need rental system and any recommend in 2022 renting systems?

Casperlet is widely used and has great support, so I'd recommend looking into that. It's made by an SL firm called Caspertech.

What are the golden rules for renting?

The only golden rule would be for you to have an automated system that instantly invites a new tenant to the rental group so they can begin to rez things. Nothing is worse than renting a mainland plot and having to wait for the owner to come online to give rez rights.

About building and renting.... is it better to build and decorate something to start with for the renter and then leave prims left?

Or do you leave full prims for the renter to do as he please?

Try both and see what works for you. Though if you do decide to offer pre landscaped and furnished parcels make sure it's top notch high quality everything or it's not likely to get rented.

Are there website related to Second life to post a rental offer and how do you post it?

You can do that here in the forums in the appropiate section. Serious landlords also have their own website with land listings.

So i need someone to talk with cause im not sure how difficult it is. I would think it would be a bit complex though...

You will get someone to talk with if you provide as much details as you can. What you have written here is incredibly vague bordering on non informative. Hardly anyone will want to waste their time talking to you just to figure out it's not something they can or want to do.

If you put up any and all information up front, people will know what is asked of them and they can contact you knowing they could work it out.

Again, thank you all for helping. I also opened a support ticket. So, when LL renders their opinion/solution I'll be smarter and post it here.

What do you expect from this? They will literally just tell you what has been said in this thread and it's one more ticket needlessly clogging up the queue. If you want land under your feet you must buy a land parcel, a water parcel is just that, a water parcel and it will stay a water parcel if it's on mainland and not a private estate.

  7. In my opinion it should be. A friend of mine got a 1 star review because an item of hers 'was not mesh' even though it said nowhere on the listing that it was mesh. Why? Because the item was made and added to the marketplace long before mesh even became a thing.

I can see why people would assume everything is mesh nowadays but a listing date might make them realise that the chance of that is very low if not impossible.

Effectively you're trashing the 512m² parcel if you cut a 64m² hole in the middle, at least from my point of view. So based on experience, is this considered illegitimate land cutting?

Yes. If someone buys the parcel around the tiny cut out and contacts LL, they will move the cut out to the ouside of the parcel.

Thats NOT true. Someone can spend 40 hours to make that mesh item but theyre NOT selling it to ONE person, ONE time. Theyre selling it to millions. you make one good item one time and you will have millions of people buying that one item. you only spent 40 hours making it but there will be different people buying it every day, for years to come. Yes they might only charge L200 for a mesh hair, but think of how many people will buy that mesh hair, everyone who visits their shop, everyone who visits their marketplace, for years to come. Just think of the person who made the Maitreya mesh body. I dont know how many hours they spent making it, but the amount of money they have earned over the years from millions buying it, thats a lotttt of money they made for just some hours time.

Second Life has nowhere near 'millions' of active users. 9_9
