I am looking for modeling gigs of ALL kinds. Hi I used to have a similar problem initially-- I would always land up in chat hotspots and most people there were already in groups and in the middle of a conversation topic, and I could never get beyond "Hi". Try the Sweethearts Jazz club, it's a great place to meet very friendly people. It's ok if you don't have a ready topic to talk about. Just ask someone to dance with you-- while dancing you can carry on a light one-on-one conversation at your own pace. And the hosts are very polite and welcoming as well.
