  1. As a DJ on SL as well as a former RL Radio DJ I can say without a doubt, playing mainstream music in SL would in fact be a violation of the copyright royalties act. In a situation where you are playing to hundreds of thousands of people, the royalty payments would add up fast. Be very careful what you play in world. People who work for the recording industry can and may be lurking at your sets. First off, if at all possible, NEVER EVER download from Youtube. They are painfully obvious. Second but most important ,use a reputed source like Amazon who pays the royalties for every track you buy, much the same as is done when buying a CD. I have seen many DJs who download from youtube and it is only obvious to me (and those same recording industry people) when you have "Artist - Song Title (official video)" (or something similar) in the title. you can get royally screwed and so can the club owners.
  2. I'm not the photographer, My Partner and SL Daughter are...but heres a selfie I took tonight in my Play area LOL:
  3. And this is our Noob pic together for comparison (I know TERRIBLE!!)
  4. My SL Partner is also my RL Wife so we been on the SL ride together almost from the start (Fenix is 6 months older) but here is the most recent pic of us. She has since found her Fenix tattoo and it is now over her left breast, and changed her hairstyle, but basically the rest is unchanged. S
  5. Be prepared! My noob avatar looks like a science experiment gone horribly wrong! But here is the evolution of Fenix Greycloak:
  6. May add I never even gt so much as a partial refund. What good are "credits" if you can't even use them? Essentially I Paid for something I can't use!
  7. I have been looking for lelutka heads on MP but have no luck finding them. I am too lazy too deal with the crowds at their in-world store. If anyone can point me to their Marketplace store, it would be much appreciated.
  8. Stay the hell away from these guys. If you have issues with tier, your screwed! They refuse to refund and will IP Ban you before tier is even up. I paid one month in advance for the land by mistake and when I contacted the "owner" she offered to credit me for different land and 6 days into a one month rental, IP Banned me from the land and put it back up for rent. She also claimed she wasn't the owner, but rather a manager. The previous post lists her as CEO/OWNER. Stay away! trust me on this.
  9. I don't remember what I put in my first life tab. Probably some quotes I've always liked (about as RL as someone will get from me in a profile).
  10. AS A guy I find the Maitreya avatar looks best for women. I've helped my wife with hers. She has the Maitreya Lara body and a bento head (don't remember who made her head). Maitreya is actually quite easy to work with as far as skin tone and what not. I think that may be one reason it's so popular.

  12. Never a bad picture of VictoriaGrwd. Looking good!!
  13. The way I see it is like this (and Yes I also have a Flickr page..I don't care who sees it, I'll post the link below.). If anyone wants to post "nudies" of their avatar on a flickr account, it is nothing more then them being creative with said avatar and just showing off that creativity. As a previous poster said (and totally nailed it), its not like people are seeing them in RL. You won't be too likely to find nudies of me, not because I don't want to show my avy naked, but rather because what I HAVE posted I have found pretty cool looking and again for "artistic creativity" I Post them to my flickr. I say to each their own! https://www.flickr.com/photos/fenixgreycloak/
  14. The most annoying thing for me is my neighbors putting out objects that "Shout" in local and you can "hear it" on my parcel. Even checking the "limit sounds and gestures" option doesn't work. Try using "say" or "Whisper" if the object gives you the choice.
  15. Many club owners require voice so the DJ can advertise their Host, the club, upcoming events etc. VIPS are not always in chat range, even with an extender, but are always in range of the DJ Stream wherever they are on the club's land.
  16. And it keeps on going! I probably have 3 different incarnations of Fenix Grecloak in this thread alone!
  17. okay you said you have a stream rented. that's a vital basic. However, most club owners (myself included) won't look at anyone under 90 days old in world. Largely due to the fact in the first 90 days you are still learning SL. The SLURL you reference is provided by the club owner/management. Some things to consider: 1: Managers and owners frown on clearly "pirated" music. Such music can get an owner AND the DJ fined a hefty amount of RL Money and can potentially get the club shut down by Linden Labs. So don't do it if you can help it. 2: You have the stream rental, you will likely have been provided a Stream URL. The managers usually need that URL to put you on the DJ board (which relays your stream to the rest of the club). They won't need the password for your stream. 3: Mixxx and Sam Broadcaster is the most commonly used DJ Software, make sure you have a music collection at least 1000 tracks to start with. 4: Most clubs require the DJ to talk on mic much like a radio DJ would, 5: Don't expect the owners and managers to bring the VIPs (listeners) to you, that is usually the job of the DJ and host. Management just provides a place to do your sets. You must build a following (people who go to your sets cause they like what you do) yourself. 6: if you don't have a large enough following, you won't make much money. I've seen DJs who were only able to walk away with 50 Linden. So building the following first is most important. The Money will come afterwards. 7: Make sure you are personable and friendly. Welcome ANYONE that comes to your set. A simple "hello (name)" goes a long way. People love being acknowledged by the DJ. Personally speaking as a DJ on SL for 7 years, who has done RL Radio in the past, and as a current club owner, PRACTICE! If you got your own parcel, and have the ability, put your stream in land and practice DJing to either yourself or to some friends. Take whatever advice or criticism they may have. Friends are only trying to help you be better.

  19. I won't use google chrome for privacy reasons (They are notorious for collection your private information), I use firefox in linux but getting firestorm (or any viewer) to work in firefox is pretty much the same in all OSes, here's How I added Firestorm to Firefox's "Open with". 1: In URL bar, type in "About:config" (no quotes) Search for "network.protocol-handler.expose.secondlife" (again without quotes) 2: If nothing appears, Right click on a white space and create a new Boolean entry titled "network.protocol-handler.expose.secondlife" (no quotes) and set to false. Then proceed to step 4. 3: If it IS found in search, simply toggle until the value is "false". 4: Restart Firefox and try to enter an SLURL, It will ask for an App to use, point it to the FIRESTORM.SH (linux) or FIRESTORM.EXE (windows) file in your Firestorm folder (Firefox will list it as an application) select the file then check the box to save the association and you are done! If you don't use firestorm, find the corresponding SH (linux) or EXE file and use them instead of Firestorm. If you are using windows, it's easy to find, just right click your Viewer's Icon and select "properties" it should list the filename and location there.
  20. Yup you are right on that Ethan. I've even had noobs approach me for lindens. There are so many ways to earn lindens why "panhandle" on SL for them?
