Transparency and empowerment are core to me." Isn't Twitter wonderful! Well, it is for those who can blame a degree of inaccuracy or incoherence on the need to fit a complex thought or six into 140 characters. Especially when you can express deep and meaningful concepts vaguely, and leave it to enthusiastically optimistic readers to interpret the words in ways that will satisfy themselves until the reality surfaces - and you don't have to apologise for broken promises because you never actually committed to anything specific. I am surprised that ESLers don't use it more, as it covers a multitude of sins. Or perhaps they do. Wooja...agreethatthedevilisinthedetails

  5. I just tripped over this on the net while seeking something else and thought it fits well here. I'll just plop it down and viewers can take it how they wish. Thanks to Friedrich Hayek and the Austrian School Enjoy..........I did The story MUST have been inspired by SL: theft, unempathic anti-heroes, bad role-playing, misogynistic attitudes, strippers in a club full of mostly silent people, vampires, dolcett and gratuitous violence. 7. This might be a good introduction into SL culture for Ebbe, the new CEO. Have you thought of inviting him to apply for the position? You would probably have to spend a little time training him. The problem might be the money. How much would you expect him to pay to get the job? Wooja...domeafavour

  13. LaskyaClaren wrote: LL can and will do nothing about disclosure that occurs outside of Linden Lab's own web properties or in-world. Wrong! LL can do pretty much whatever they like with respect to avatar accounts, without giving a reason. The reality is that they can't usually be bothered. I do know, however, of at least one situation where they have communicated with an avatar and threatened to take action regarding what they felt was unacceptable behaviour outside LL owned/managed properties - even though they had absolutely no evidence of a link between that avatar and the external behaviour. LL backed off at a rate of knots once they had explained to them the necessity to demonstrate a chain of evidence. I also know of another situation where they took action against an avatar which was observing the ToS of a LL owned property because it contravened the - at the time different - ToS of another LL owned property. Litigation, which would almost certainly have proved successful against LL, was not considered worthwhile, as that particular LL property was assessed as doomed to liquidation, which subsequently proved to be the case. 14. Perrie Juran wrote: It does appear that 6.3(iv) allows for an exception: (iv) Post, display or transmit any Content that is explicitly sexual, intensely violent or otherwise designated as Adult under our Maturity ratings, except as set forth in those ratings. Also, the introduction to section 6 does read, "You agree to abide by certain rules of conduct, including any applicable community standards for the portion of the Service you are using)...." (My underlining) However, as a stand alone statement it does prohibit such activity. Surely LL's ludicrously highly-paid inhouse legal counsel assiduously assisted by excessively expensive and experienced external commercial law practice consultants would not generate a ToS which was self-contradictory, ambiguous, incoherent, unclear and of questionable use if taken to litigation? Or did they take guidance from the SL Answers community and just cut and paste a bunch of stuff they found by using Search? Wooja...expectsomethingprofessionalornot

  19. Laskya, they were probably white-slave traders looking to harvest employees for the sex-shops of the subcontinent.
