  1. I would strongly advise people against using these forums to publicise potentially libellous rumours posted elsewhere. They are not on topic for these forums.
  2. I'm sorry, but moderators are not allowed to remove posts unless they breach the Linden Lab Official:Forum Participation Guidelines in some way. If it's a post offering employment or a property for sale/rent, you could always reply to the original post and say the job/property is no longer available.
  3. I've just checked those two teleporters. The Paleoquest one was working when I tried it, but the Linden Realms one needed a restart. We're aware that they're stalling intermittently and a fix is in QA at the moment.
  4. Fascinating and important though this discussion of the differences between Britain and England certainly is, I am not at all sure it's on-topic for a thread about Bellisseria.
  5. I've asked for this to be fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.
  6. I don't think it works in the viewer, but I can certainly recommend DeepL Translate. I've used it to help people with questions about their Linden Homes in a variety of languages, including Ukrainian and Japanese, by copy-pasting their side of the conversation from the viewer into the app, and typing my replies in the app and copying them into the viewer's chat. Certainly it's turned what they said into comprehensible English and they seemed to understand my replies. Moles whose first language isn't English who've taken a look at it all tell me its translations to and from their languages are perfectly acceptable, too.
  7. It would be best if folks stick to the topic and refrained from a wider discussion of autism and the propriety or otherwise of trying to make jokes about it.
  8. Unfortunately, it seems impossible to keep this thread on topic -- The New Second Life Community Exhibition -- because some people are determined to use it to conduct a discussion of males using female avatars. I'm closing it. Why people can't open another thread if they want to discuss a particular topic is beyond me.
  9. Gentle reminder that the Forum Participation Guidelines say
  10. Yes. When no one is sitting on the vehicle, it counts against the parcel limit. When someone is sitting on it, it counts against any unused LI available on the region. Either way it counts against the hard limit of of the region's total LI.
  11. They were correct. When a vehicle has someone sitting on it, it's a bit like a temp-on-rez object, in that its LI is set against any spare LI on the region that's not being used for anything else. When Abnor and his team are calculating the LI budgets for Linden Homes regions, they have first to set aside enough LI to cover every parcel owner on the region choosing the house with the highest LI and then using all their parcel's LI for decorating. They subtract that from the total region LI and then draw up a budget to cover the region infrastructure and decor -- roads, pathrways, rocks, trees, bushes, flowers and so on -- and also leave a margin to allow a small number of vehicles to pass through. In practice, of course, there will generally be more spare LI available for vehicles than the budget allows, since not everyone is going to choose the most expensive house and not everyone is going to max our their parcel LI, but the total region LI of 22,500 is a hard limit, and it includes all vehicles on the region at any given time.
  12. 'We've received several reports that various related posts about IMVU, shopping in SL, LL's attitude to maintaining backwards compatibility, and other subjects, were off topic. This thread is supposed to be about the semi-humorous discussion of pet peeves rather than detailed debates about particular topics, so I'm inclined to agree, but after I'd started marking up posts for removal and realised I'd selected 35 of them with several pages to go, I gave up, since it's clearly a discussion several people wanted. Please, though, in future, consider starting separate threads in the appropriate subforum to conduct in-depth discussions of particular topics. Let's keep this thread to pet peeves without going into too much detail about them.
  13. Please remember that the Forum guidelines say To my mind, this means that discussions of how particular legislative changes may affect Second Life are on topic but that discussions of wider polticial ideologies or social trends that may be behind the legislative changes are off topic.
  14. The soundscapes throughout Bellisseria are all Garden's work. I don't know if he reads the forums but I'll make sure he sees your post.
  15. Please let's stick to the topic -- PBR -- rather than get bogged down in debates about whether people are misrepresenting each other or their sources. Everyone will by now have been able to reach their own conclusions about how seriously to take the contributions of particular regular posters in the thread.
  16. Same here. I've had my PCs made by a local computer store for about what I'd pay for an off-the-shelf model of a similar spec and whenever I want replace or upgrade a component I discuss my requirements with them and they end up supplying and fitting the new gpu or whatever for about, or less than, what I'd pay for the same component on Amazon.
  17. Please try to keep the discussion focussed on SL-related topics, and don't let it wander off into a more general discussion of empathy and toxicity in general.
  18. It is perfectly possible to disagree with a point someone makes without making a personal issue of it (insulting or belittling them or impugning their motives). The Forum Participation Guidelines say, and I've had to remove several posts because people seemed to have forgotten about this.
  19. Some disagreements seem to be getting a bit personal. These, if they must be conducted at all, should be conducted in personal messages, not in the forum.
  20. Please try to restrict the discussion to PBR without going off on tangents like speculating about what research Linden Lab do or don't do, or what they did or didn't get right when introducing new features in the past.
  21. Sorry, but I don't understand. You can apply both in the same viewer if you use the Official Viewer. As Scylla notes above, you just have to apply the Blinn-Phong textures first. Presumably when Firestorm release their PBR viewer, you'll be able to do the same in that viewer, too. Or have I misunderstood something?
  22. Yes. Blinn-Phong and PBR are completely separate. If you're using a PBR viewer you see the PBR layers. If you're not, you see the Blinn-Phong ones if the creator has applied any. When we were making Winter Wonderland, because we weren't sure when Firestorm would have PRB ready, we had to texture everything twice, once with PBR materials and once with Blinn-Phong ones, to be sure everyone would see much the same thing. I think the moral of this story, though, is that content creators should always check what their creations look like in (at least) both Firestorm and the Official Viewer at several different viewer settings, which I have to say I knew to do well before I started to work for LDPW.
  23. Please let's stick to the topic, "lossy texture compression." If people feel they really must complain about other contributors' tone, then please do it in personal messages or somewhere other than these forums.
  24. Any further discussion of the qualities or reputation of individual forum regulars is very much off-topic for this thread. It is not a path we should explore any further.
  25. I assumed you had your reasons for opening the thread here, which is why I didn't suggest moving it. The fact it's got this far without any problems demonstrates your decision was the right one and that it's perfectly possible to have a useful discussion without going into too much Adult detail, which is why I don't want to take up BilliJo's suggestion. If people want to start a parallel discussion in the Adult forum, they're very welcome to, but let's keep this one suitable for a G audience.
