  1. I've removed the screenshot because it was possible to read the name of the avatar complained about, despite the attempt to redact it, and also because of some of the quoted language used.

The person receiving these messages needs to submit an Abuse Report for harassment -- Governance need to receive the report from them, not from a third party.   I think the friend receiving these messages should also consider contacting RL law enforcement.

I'm now locking the thread because these forums are not the place to discuss abusive behaviour by other residents.   That needs to be handled by an abuse report.

    Agreed.

Hopefully they'll do their best, it's not an easy thing to tackle and toes will be stepped on but i think it's worth it. I forsee a lot of pushback from some communities in sl

Ingrid must have hit the submit button just after I sent the post immediately above this.   But any further discussion of this particular issue should take place in a new thread.

  3. Please folks, I think the topic of what the current rules are about child avatars and adult content have now been explored sufficiently exhaustively in this thread.

If anyone wants to open a new thread discussing what they think the new rules about child avatars announced in Lab Gab might or should be, then please go ahead, but from now on please restrict replies in this thread to the many other topics raised in the broadcast

  4. I shudder to think what will happen if and when new rules on child avatars are announced -- probably everyone will start talking about the mobile viewer, mirrors, 2k textures and so on.

In the meantime, please try to keep the thread on-topic for the issues raised in the actual Lab Gab rather than speculation about what LL may announce at some future time.

    *sad sigh*

You can only get the Boopie now by spending every free moment of inworld time for the next month looking for flowers?

If I didn't have to work US daytime, all I would have had to do is show up. Oh well.

I did see some pics of the Crab Crawl.  It looked like some hilarious fun!  Wish I could have been there.

The first person to collect enough flowers to win the Boopie managed it in just under an hour (admittedly that was just after the event started, so there weren't many people about).   There should always be 20 to 30 flowers rezzed on each region -- they are replaced almost as soon as they are collected or they derez.    Good luck, anyway!

For days now my Bellissaria land and home don't seem available. Are you having the same experience?

There's nothing wrong with the region -- I've just checked and teleported to your house.  If you're still having problems, I suggest you contact support.   Though you might want to try rebooting your router first -- that fixes a whole load of issues in my experience, and it might work in this case too.   Can't hurt, anyway.

I've had this happen every time, and I've had to put in a ticket to solve it, and wait several days for it to be solved, so maybe it is a damper on Fantasseria uptake.

Have you encountered this recently, Prok?  Our update of March 7 was supposed to fix this, and it did, as far as I know.   At least if it hasn't, this is the first I've heard (and when anything scripted goes wrong on Bellisseria, I normally hear about it pretty quickly).   We can tell when the house controllers have successfully configured themselves by checking their description fields (visible to estate managers with Region Objects) and when our QA team checked the regions after the update everything seemed to be in order.

If you noticed this issue after March 7th, please, if you can,let me know where and when it happened.

    Squeaky wheels . . .

You may be right, but I choose to believe that Quartz was just flipping through the forums while sipping his coffee, and recognized that his special skill set was needed.

If a post is reported, that guarantees one of us will read it.  Additionally, we browse the forums out of interest, and also keep a proactive eye on threads that look as if they may require attention, whether because of the topic or because they're unusually active.

Other Lindens and Moles read the forums, too, when they have the time and the inclination, but there's obviously no guarantee anyone will see a particular post, which is why posting about something in the forums really isn't the best way to get anyone to do anything about it.

That's what support tickets, abuse reports, user groups and Canny are for.

Update, as I keep digging into this.

The object was on another sim, and the slurl directed me to a Linden Premium Home parcel. Estate owned by Governor Linden.

Does anyone know what kind of law enforcement I can report this to? I live in Denmark, LL is in the US.

Please send me the slurl for the Linden Homes parcel via a private message and I'll make sure it's investigated.

If you've filed an abuse report, you've done all you can.   I suggest you block the object that's sending you these messages,  and let Governance deal with it.

Since I don't think there's anything that can usefully be added to the thread, I'm locking it before it becomes a pile  on.

It would be interesting if it raised the LI available for LH residents..(did not read that is the case, though)..

It's not.  But it may mean that you find the LI you have been using will fall, so you might have a bit more spare LI than you did last week.

Just a thought, @Quartz Mole: does shaving off the LI used throughout regions mean there's a chance of a sound environment being added to the trad regions at some time in the future?

I know that adding a sound environment to the very early regions is certainly on the agenda, though there's no date for it, nor any guarantee that it'll happen.   There's a whole load of fixes and updates we want to do, but it's a matter of when, and in what order, to do them,  and no decisions have yet been taken.

More than that I can't say.  So... not in the immediate future but perhaps sort of soon-ish... maybe?

Yes, it's nice.  I haven't done any reading to figure out how many probes the typical Belli home will need, tho, so planning to allocate 10 or so LI for those in the future??? Any ideas of how many one would typically use?

If you're satisfied with how your home -- Linden or otherwise --  looks at the moment with PBR with LL's standard EEP settings (try the Official Viewer if your current third-party viewer isn't yet PBR-capable) then you won't need any probes.  There shouldn't be a huge difference in how things look.

You can certainly use both PBR and local lighting to enhance the way your home looks,  but we worked with Engineering to try to ensure people won't get any nasty surprises the first time they see their Linden Home with PBR.

  13. We had to lock a recent thread about Oberwolf Linden's post.

But until then, please refrain from opening new threads on the topic.

With due respect then, why don't you tell us what we can discuss since Brad's announcement was about the article/blog. Anything we can discuss that would be on topic, would in some way refer to it and potential solutions for mitigating any future occurrence.

The topic of the thread is Brad's announcement, not the article that prompted it.

  16. Please don't discuss, or even allude to, the details of the allegations in the article/blog post, particularly since Brad says

I've set an alt that I accidentally let renew for a year the task of finding a Fantasseria parcel which is close enough to a rez zone that I could run ferries from it, and also close enough to a shore that said ferries could go to Eyrie etc. easily.  I see that many such parcels are available, just haven't gotten one yet.  She's hopping 4 or 5 times a day, and has abandoned many gorgeous parcels with the wrong geography for my needs.

What she HAS found is that many of the parcel controllers give this message when she touches them.

She's been successful at resetting most of the ones she's found.  It takes a long touch of anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute.  It does not matter where she touches on the surface, or if she touches the root prim (a small white cube inside the controller, near the ground).  She tries a few times, often just getting the same message over and over.  Then, if I have time, she'll go away and try again an hour or so later, and often that works.  (I'm beginning to suspect this bug is time-of-day related; perhaps the reset message gets lost if a server is too busy).  If I don't have time to fool with it, she files an abuse report, which amusingly turns out to be on Quartz (sorry, my friend).  You might think I should file a bug report, but the moles are well aware of this issue, so I don't see the point.  I believe they've done something to this script over time, because I think the "reset" message has changed.  It is now:

So far, about a fourth of the homes she's caught had this problem.  Earlier in her search, the percentage was higher, but perhaps the top of the Land Page queue was a bit clogged with nice parcels that had stuck controllers?  Anyway, she's told me that she feels like she's a Fantasseria housekeeper.  Poor little fae!

Sorry it's taken so long to get this fixed (it was blocked by something else, which proved far more difficult to fix than the issue with the housecontrollers, but we got there in the end.

We've just finished updating all the Fantasy regions.   Any problems with the house controllers please let me know, but I think the problem is now solved (you shouldn't now see that message again but, if you do, it will reset the script, which should fix whatever was the initial problem).
