  1. Honestly, LL really should have had the 2048 land available before presenting the higher premium plan. That's the only thing I'm interested in.
  2. There are places that hire noobs. There are also lots of places that don't require mesh; in fact I've never had an employer that I've worked for in SL (as a hostess, 4 yrs experience) ask me if I wear mesh. And... I've been to some active high-population clubs where the hostess and/or DJ wore system clothing. So, yea you might have to wait 30 days before you can get hired but your clothing, hair and makeup may not be an issue. Also... heads up: chances are you will not make enough Lindens in a job to support your SL shopping habit. Even at the bigger, more well known clubs hostesses don't make more than 2k Lindens in a two-hour set. More than likely you'd earn between 0-2k Lindens depending on the club, the traffic, and the set time. Others may not have the same opinion as me, but this has been my experience.
  3. Perhaps you didn't understand my response, which was very constructive. If you want a job in SL or in RL you must make the effort. Nobody will give you a handout. You just didn't get the answer you wanted from me, so you got miffed. Here's what I think you will find constructive: there are lots of jobs in SL. You can make an effort and learn how to texture full perm items. You can learn how scripts work and add them to full perm furniture you learned how to texture. You can work as waiter/waitress. You can host at clubs of all kinds. You can learn how to DJ for clubs of all kinds. You can apply at RP schools as a teacher or administrator. You can RP in hospitals, fire stations, coast guards, schools, neighborhoods. You can drive buses, limos, boats, cars, taxis. The list is really endless. When I said make an effort on your part, I meant it. That you took it as negative criticism is on you. You must research, explore, make contacts, build a resume (yes.. in SL sometimes resumes are needed). We don't always get the answers we want, but sometimes we get the answers we need.
  4. I'm not going to IM you as that takes work on my part, and you're looking for work on your part. Honestly, you're the one that wants a job so make an effort. Check out the classified in-world or look for job postings here. Then, apply. That's how you get a job in SL.
  5. This actually happened to me once on a Gacha sim (I'm a gacha addict). I had been renting at a relatively well-known gacha sim - I don't remember the name - and was happy with traffic. I even made a couple of signs in PSP for the owner. One day, I go to look at my store and see my rental box is gone. All rental boxes were gone. Confusion set in. There was a group IM advising store renters that there was no longer any rent, that donations could instead be made. I was concerned that, without a store rented, anyone could plunk down objects for sale in my spot. I decided to wait until the rent I had just paid ran out and then would move on. Instead, a couple of days later, after people went on and on about how nice it was to not have to pay rent (that again, many of us had already paid for several advance weeks), I logged on, TP'd to the sim and... the sim was gone. Closed. Empty. Nobody knew how much money the sim owner/renter took us for, but there was a lot of back and forth IM'ing in one of the gacha groups and the thief actually got in on the conversation and said he didn't do anything wrong. It was pretty bad. I had paid for 4 weeks rent, so whatever that came out to be, I lost. I did get my stuff back though. This happened a few years ago, so this scam is really not new. But it is something to be aware of.
  6. I'm in need of a radar HUD with features outside of the "Avi Avi entered/left" chat range that is basic to all radar HUDs: - different colors for avatar distance - avatar age - a check mark that can be placed next to an avatar name or a color changer of a listed name (for tracking purposes) - eject & freeze - both display name & user name listed - a subtle sound that plays when avatar comes within chat range (although chat in a bright color would be OK, too) What I'm really looking for is the built in radar feature found in the Singularity viewer, which is now outdated. Does anyone either 1.) know where i can find a HUD like this or 2.) can anyone build me a HUD like this? Thanks for reading and your time - Kat Clifton
  7. Hey all, I'm looking for a scripted ferry to travel on one sim from island to island. Would love it to be automated to travel on its own, but... a drivable version would be great, too. Don't need anything huge - just a small ferry to carry people - up to maybe 10 or 12. Doesn't have to be fancy, although true to what might be seen in RL would be cool. Mesh desired. Anyone know where I might find something like this? Kat Clifton
  8. I have a really nice one. It was made by ChaosRaine
  9. I took the survey. The questions were slanted towards SL not a MMORPG.
  10. I don't really see Second Life as a "game," but as a virtual community and society. I've found that for the most part, one gets out of it what they put into it.
  11. I make anywhere from 1k to 2k Lindens per week as a host in a mature rock club. It doesn't make me rich but it pays for a lot of my clothes, hair, shoes, makeup. You can make a lot of Linden in the game but that's at well established adult clubs. I choose not to go there.
  12. Never had a problem or issue in the 9 years i've been in-world.
  13. It's true... most jobs won't really support a full SL lifestyle, unless you're pretty frugal. I work in SL for pocket money - a few outfits a week. Also, a lot of places require residents are at least 30 days old. But I have fun working in the clubs. I get to meet a lot of new people and listen to good music (I'm a host). It's worth it.
  14. So I'm interested in knowing why people post they're looking for jobs. Why not just respond to a job posting? It drives me crazy, tbh.
  15. SL isn't really a game. Lots of jobs posted here and in-world. Take some time to see what kinds of jobs are being offered, go hang out at those locations to see how the job works, and if further interested then submit an application. I'm never sure why people post "I need a job" when there's a lot of jobs posted, tbh.
  16. Lots of job postings here and in-world. You'll find a lot of hosting jobs, but that's for 2 hours minimum at a time. I'd recommend taking a look at the job postings, see what interests you, go hang out at that location to see how the job works, and then if further interested, submit an application.
  17. There is a really HUGE learning curve to SL navigation. First off, yes... the viewer stinks. There are lots of other viewers that you can use. My biggest beef is the inventory system - OMG it sucks. I so want a visual system with thumbnails. People can be really rude to noobs because the noobs don't know proper SL etiquette. And often times noobs end up spamming or griefing without even knowing they are doing it. So, we "old timers" tend to shy away from noobs when we see them. Do hang out at the noobie places (like the one mentioned earlier). There are people and places that will help you establish yourself in-world. You can also get free or really, really cheap homes (like skyboxes). You can even find a furnished home really cheap. NOBODY uses the premium homes (and I have a premium account). Start out slow and take your time. We were all new once and went through similar noob experiences.
  18. Hun... I can hardly read the post due to the colors and font style you chose. Also, there are lots and lots of jobs out there. For hosting, as an example, I recommend you peruse the classifieds and/or forums and find a club that seems to be of interest. Go to that club, hang out, get a feel for the place. If you seem to like it, then submit an app.
  19. Most clubs don't pay their staff. It's tip-based for 99% of clubs in SL.
  20. The answer is definitely "It's Tuesday." Wait until Wednesday and I'll be you won't be having the same issues. So, it's Tuesday, wait for Wednesday.
  21. I have the same issue, only I don't crash. If I try to TP to another locale, nothing rezzes. My map and world still show I'm at my starting locale even if I TP off the sim. It's so annoying.
  22. I've got a weird problem. About 50% of the time, I can't get logged into SL regardless of which viewer I'm using (Singularity is my "default"). I keep getting "stuck" on "Requesting Region Capabilities," which is attempted three times and then I get disconnected from the server. Now, I can log into a different starting place other than home or last location with no issues (I just pick a place at random from the log in screen). But... when I try to TP from an alternate starting locale (usually back to home) my map, my location, and my "about world" all seem to "stick" to the starting location, even though I'm no longer there. Then, nothing rezzes at the new location. So, I log out, try to TP home, and the whole process repeats itself. Any clues, insight, or suggestions for resolving this really annoying issue?
