  1. On the sugar crystals photo the hair+the head shape makes the anatomy feel really wonky. And yeah. Low balling the entire market makes no one want to pay anyone else either. Its the problem that is flourishing in comission work lately. There is no point in being paid less than worth your time, if not skill as well.
  2. Not even close to the amount of information one would need to give you a price quote.
  3. To prevent griefers from creating new accounts to harass the same place over and over. Sorry Theres a lot of places that don't have this block though. Just mostly all clubs do
  4. Takes around a month to get the basics if you dedicate 15min a day to it blendercookie.com has nice beginner tuts for free Don't search for SL centric videos. This is how most people hinder their learning and get crappy tuts. Focus on modeling and UV unwrapping and texturing tutorials. For rigging and weighting just go to the avastar page when you reach that part. Start simple. Patience is key. Impatience will hinder your learning.
  5. The problem you mentioned for maya was also happening in blender if I recall. http://blog.machinimatrix.org/avastar/help/classic-fitted-tips/ Just go down to slink ETA: You can also asy sid for a avastar version of the slink files. Albeit its outdated, it works just fine since its classic rigging.
  6. Just look at the squares? You've got some stretching and distortions in the body. Best to further separate out things. i'd separate it out with a couple more seams to optimize space and get less distortions. IE Legs and neck seams
  7. Good tut. Edgeflow you get is awesome, might even be better than zbrushes edgeflow since you avoid those crazy long edge loops. Great option you're presenting to people:)
  8. I've been tossing around the idea of throwing one out for free. Just need to find time to take one of my old models and RIg it or see if I need to make it from scratch again Eta: why free? Well it'll hurt everyone I've seen just stealing a base mesh and trying to sell it. Aka what wowmeh is probably in trouble for. Same with luck
  9. I just performed what you said.. And I still have my uv layous & materials for each mesh, Albeit in a jumble, but there? Maybe I am not understanding lol
  10. I've never encountered that problem, When joining meshes it usually keeps the unwraps? Screenshot?
  11. Paypal..Works so much better thna cards I find. I set my paypal up right to my bank, but can set it up to a card as well. If the payment doesn't go through immediately paypal will still let you get the goods, and try a couple more times before issues happen
  12. About damn time! Finally I can make a dry/wet materials script. woot! And so so so so so so s os so so sos ossosos so masidawd a much more.
  13. MMOs all ask for parental approval of users under the age threshold. Albeit it is usually forged. SL Did have a teen grid for awhile, but it has long been gone now. You are allowed to register on SL before you're 18, but you're limited. My opinion on this is that we can't protect users from mingling with adults. We cannot say that there will never be a case of nudity and sexual content entering G rated areas. It just simply does, even if it says its against TOS. So no, Let them go on more filtered Virtual worlds first. Secondlife just doesn't have the ability to monitor and protect all of its -potential- younger users.
  14. Solution found: Using loop tools bridge is no substitute for using ctrl+E and bridge edgeloops
  15. Can you post a wireframe of the area? Sometimes tools don't work as we expect for reasons unknown Could be normals or how the edgeloops flow. And Fill should always work. Select two verts, F, Select to more, F, Select two more, F, Select two more, F, Then select groups of four, F etc etc If fill doesn't then theres definitely something wrong with your geometry
  16. Just delete the faces and fill the vertices across manually then?
  17. its always my recommendation that if you're getting a computer to play a video game, you get a card to support video games. You'll want to look for the GTX series cards, not GT. For a comparison http://gpuboss.com/graphics-card/GeForce-GT-625 I don't know how much the price difference of each of these is. But if the gt 630 isn't hugely more expensive I would recommend that over the 625, and of course GTX always over GT For most cards.
  18. I personally rig right after the retopo, because sometimes there are issues that need to be fixed before you unwrap and actually texture the mesh. Though once you get more familiar with the rigging and weight painting you'll know what you can and cannot do to the mesh to get a good rig out of it. It just sucks to have finished a texture and have a geometry problem prohibiting you from getting the project finished. AO can or cannot be used, I personally prefer it because it gives a little extra depth to your mesh, you'll find its still used in a lot of games even if it isn't completely necessary. But with PBR its used as a map not baked into the texture itself. Specular is always worthwhile to do with a normal map, its quite easy too, heres my favotire tut on it ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gqp4bNJ52M)
  19. Seeing as most anime's are based around characters under the age of 18..It makes sense...
  20. Summarized in a video... ***This is a joke, I like the animation and thought it was hilarious. Not meant to directly offend anyone***
  21. It seems to put a lot of people at ease when I tell them that if you're planning to use blender for 3d Modeling, especially for use in SL. You'll not even use half of the total program So don't let it overwhelm you when you start. Theres a lot too it, but take it step by step and you'll have it all down soon!
  22. Mesh will definitely give you better shapes and such, and does have some movement, but no ones hair in RL moves like flexi. So it really just won't compete in quality vs mesh. That being said there is still some uses and combinations of the two that makes having flexi strans still somewhat nice I prefer mesh, Better shapes for the hair and all.. Though having the flexi throughout some styles just makes it slightly more rugged and fun
