A nd don't know the difference between effect and affect. I also don't think you understand what Copybot is/was. 'Anybody can create, anybody can sell', is a central tenet of Second Life. Mesh distorted this a little (with a higher bar to entry), but I'm fairly sure there's no way LL would ever make it compulsory to confirm RL identity prior to gaining seller/merchant status. Note that obviously, any user can set one of their own prims for sale in-world - this won't change. Don't think there's any evidence they'll ever do any more in this area than the law requires. Your experience in other areas is great, but Linden Lab don't operate on the same level of any of the companies you mentioned. Lastly, no, it wouldn't be good for Second Life. Mesh piracy sucks, but the loss of free-flowing creativity would suck more. Your asserted criminalisation of NPIOF users as either content theives or tax-dodgers is offered completely without evidence or thought. Suggest you conduct more research. Coming from the user who doesn't know how to use "Don't". Anyhow, I'd have to disagree with you Freya. Almost all of what LillyBeth says is pretty accurate. Copybotters just copy and sell prims, not much to it. If they can still copy, but can't sell without confirming their ID's and filing Taxes then there will be less of them, and more chance of the ones who DO confirm their ID's getting in RL trouble. Anyone can create, and anyone can sell. This only puts a block on users who wish to withdraw the money from second life. You can create for free, you can sell for free as well, but you can NOT withdraw your money from SL without filing taxes, so you better have your eyes on a nice pair of shoes! I think you're not giving Linden Lab enough credit. If your knowledge only expands to secondlife then you're missing out on a lot of what they're doing, They manage a ton of different projects (My personal favorite project is Desura..would like to see where that heads in the future), and still offer everyone a free environment. Free flowing creation isn't being lost, and its actually encouraging more of it. People may no longer rush projects, or do a half-booty job of creating because the faster they get it out the faster they make money. If they won't provide ID and TAX info then there is no more money for them, only creation. Only fun, Only FREE FLOWING CREATIVITY!~ Most games you have to register with your RL info before you play, and buy it with a credit card or paypal (information! oh no!) but can't earn money off of them. So just like every other profit oriented website that doesn't steal 30% off the top for taxes, yes you need information. People are too bitter about it, but it isn't like you have much to lose. Think how easy your data is to access already, the government has it, hundreds of websites already host it. Just register it, and stop whining because you have to pay taxes.

Also you can try groups where people who sell mesh products advertise themselves because they will be most interested in this. Alright, I'll have to get into the Socail media world I suppose. I do not know many groups for advertising mesh products but I will have to do some research!

LepreKhaun wrote: If I heard you had the artistic and educational skill with the speed as well as the entertainment value of Bob Ross, I'd probably think to check out your Youtube channel at some point. But tuning into a live, unedited stream of some stranger, nah, I'll pass. Awh thats disappointing to miss out on you I used to each Blender lessons as a side job, and I tutor others at my college. So I do have some educational background, though comparing anyone to Bob Ross just isn't fair!
  4. Hes got good information, but ... he really creeps me out with how he presents it! Just... his style? I don't know... But good information!
  5. Alright, I'll definitely consider posting them on youtube as well. Though I think most stream websites let you record the stream? I'll have to figure it out How would I go about announcing it all, should I form a group or just post it under the Events category in the forum? ETA: I could also set up an in-world prim to watch it couldn't I? Thats how those web prims work?
  6. Would anyone be interested in a Tues/Thurs video steam of blender? I work a lot on mesh those particular days and could set aside some time (Or just the whole day) to steam as I work on various projects. I'd answer questions as I saw them, but of course would not dedicate the entire time to questions hehe. Leaving the key display on and pointing out cool tricks as I work if you'd like. If I get decent feedback I'll probably make this a weekly thing (so just a couple people interested in watching) Maybe its just sleep delirious me, but I feel like this would be fun. I could share some pretty neat tricks in blender with the community. Not a mesh question or anything, but mesh related.. So meshy mesh Mesh mesh, Steam, mesh (Maybe if I say it enough it'll be related to this category?) (Edited to make it easier to read)

The specific pavillion she posted did not even have that option. I don't know about you, but when I look at which computer is better, I usually take the price into consideration. Then again, I am a moose, I don't even speak engraaaawwwwwwwkk
  8. Malarwen Hall wrote: btw the envy has dedicated memory NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 740M Graphics with 2048MB of dedicated video memory Personally, I prefer Sony Vaio but mostly because it's small and portable...I do like HP though - both of my HPs are still working..one I got in 2007 and the other one in 2010. Both got 8 plus hours of SL a day for years on them (used to work in SL as my RL job). "Base, upgrade, and optional components, accessories, and software are listed. Upgrade and option choices may affect final price. • Available at starting price • Upgrade or optional" The envy does not come with that graphics card, It is not bolded.
  9. Malarwen Hall wrote: For SL definitely the HP Envy - it has 2Gb of dedicated graphics card memory. If you want it just for browsing the internet and FB then the cheaper one will do just fine. Thats only upgradeable or optional, It is NOT included in the price
  10. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314178 Try that one, Especially since you're posting this on SL form I am assuming you're getting it for SL That one comes with 2gb dedicated graphics memory (Decent card) and 6gigs RAM, Upgradeable to 12gigs. 500HDD and a slot for another HDD.. I5 but upgradeable as well. Its a steal for the price. Neither of the computers you posted came with a graphics card, have fun with those on-board graphics
  11. I'm glad you figured it out. Let me know if you need anymore help, I spend approx 8 hours in blender a day
  12. -cringes at uv unwrap- I can't tell if your normals are facing upward or not from that picture, but im sure you've made sure that they are (If not, always worth a recalc and flip what you need to) It'd be easier to solve if you had a link to your blend file to work with. This flat part im pointing to, does it unwrap as part of that area? a completely flat line of vertices isn't common in UV unwraps and could be part of your problem
  13. Re-reading this and looking at the model (Which isnt much to look at) this sounds more like a texturing issue than a rigging issue. Is this model transparent as soon as you upload it? Or after you set transparency on it or after you texture transparency?
  14. That has got to be the sketchiest download website i've ever seen. Dropbox links or well..any other certified sharing website and i'd be a lot more interested in opening that file
  15. 3x9 plane with smoothing groups I am assuming?Disable the smoothing groups or add in an edgesplit of some sort (not sure what its called in maya) And that should be taken care of. Smooth no edge split = weird shading No smooth Smooth with edge split Maya doesn't always show how things appear in SL, I find blender is does a pretty good job of displaying the shading that you will receive in SL
  16. IvanTwin Rogers wrote: the third link dont works, but i recomended, I7 inter processor with Nvidia video card, i see this laptops toshiba, in a nice price :matte-motes-angry: There is no need for an i7 if you're going to be gaming. Go with an i5 and get the same results. Not enough data to process, if you're doing rendering and music creation yes go with the newest i7 but if you're just gaming it will never use 100% of an i5 processor. Get more RAM and a better GPU rather than pay $200 more for an i7 You need to be checking out GAMING computers, and if you really want the best experience on SL then avoid laptops. Laptops are NOT What you want if you are on a budget for a computer. Getting an actual computer will give you a lot more for what you pay for. Check out the deals on newegg and cyberpower. Cyberpower has a winter sale right now http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Back_To_School_2014 And with a little customization you don't have to be stuck with the crappy windows 8. Windows 8 will drive you insane on a desktop and laptop since it is designed for tablet use. ETA:THe back to school deal gets high frames on a 1920x1200 monitor, Im expecting you won't be using such a large monitor so expect even higher frames than what is displayed on the website.
  17. If you plan on playing SL from home, just set yourself up a nicer desktop. Buying a laptop isn't really worth it for games, unless you plan on moving about a lot. Desktop will give you a LOT MORE bang for your buck. a $500 laptop won't really handle SL that well either. Low memory, low processing, low quality graphics. I mean what are you upgrading from?
  18. If you are trying to find a converter, and apparently don't know much about 3-d..Im going to guess its a downloaded model and you PROBABLY shouldn't upload it because you do not have the rights to redistribute it as is ~.~
  19. TO create mesh you need programs such as blender and photoshop(Gimp if you don't have money for it, its free) You shouldn't start with anything too complex, now clothing is fun to make once you learn how. Though it is extremely difficult to begin with, especially using avastar to rig everything up. You'll want to watch some introductory courses on blender and try to learn all the tools before you get into making all too much (www.cgcookie.com is a great place to start) 3. Blender/photoshop is the tool for beginners and pros alike 4. No, there are many ways to create in SL from clothing layers, scripts, tattoos, skins, prims etc.
  20. Step 1: Find a guillotine Step 2: Cut head off Step 3: Replace head with other head (Might need a friend)
  21. AND THE FINALE ALL OF OUR HARDWORK EVERYONE! THANK YOU! eta: I did buy the wasabi hair, but the dark brown one
  22. I've got a hairbase, its just not showing through the hair. Guess I need to pull my forhead forward a bit? Will have to mash buttons to figure out which one will make that happen.
  23. Thanks for the links I really like that amacci hair, I'll have to check it out when I get back from work tonight. Hopefully that hair comes with a hair base, or hopefully i'll be able to find/make a hairbase with the other link you sent me You've been so helpful. I'm super excited to make this character even better now (Though I've probably already spent more than I should have in SL!)
  24. From the 3d world a project like that could easily be about $100, but if you are going to be constantly checking in and dictating the design past the original specifications and slowing the process down (More time = more money) it could get up into the $400~500 range (And this is the low end)
  25. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sound_Clips It says PCM WAV format, 16-bit, 44.1kHz, mono. as well, so not only a wav file but make sure its a 16 bit 44.1khz mono .wav file
