  1. Dearest Sister Scyl . . . is this the kind of place you told me to avoid?
  2. Thanks for this! For facial expressions, I'm pretty much sold on Lelutka's Axis Hud, but that is two and a half times the price of the Happy Dispatch one. The Happy Dispatch body HUD looks nice though, and very affordable, so I think I'll give that a shot. And I'm tempted to try Animare, if only to compare it to the (also much pricier) AnyPose. Years ago I tried a stand-alone animation program that started with a "Q" -- maybe it was QAvimator? Dunno. I didn't stick with it very long, as animations weren't a priority for me in those days. I should definitely give this a shot, though, now.
  3. Mind if I ask what you're using? Scylla uses AnyPose, but I wouldn't mind trying something different . . .
  4. That seems possible, although I had a similar sense (albeit maybe less dramatically) in the other rooms and models I checked. My avi is about 1.78m, so roughly 5' 10" -- certainly not short by RL standards, but definitely on the low end of the scale in SL. I'll check out some of the models again when I have a chance.
  5. Well, yes. But the problem is easy to see. My sense is that the covenants for the Linden homes will enforce certain visual standards (in the way, I guess, that condo developments usually do), so you wouldn't want smaller scaled homes in the same region as these larger ones, or it might look odd. I doubt that LL wants to set aside regions specifically for smaller sized avis. I recall Penny saying like 6 years ago that more and more women (anyway) were choosing smaller avs. Maybe, but it's certainly still a pretty mixed bag.
  6. Well, here's a problem (from my perspective anyway) with the new Linden homes. They're very nicely built, look great, and are a lot of fun, but . . . completely out of scale with my avi (and that of my main, who is roughly the same height). That's my issue, and my fault, of course: I chose to use a "realistically" scaled and proportioned shape. And, of course, the same issues arise with commercially available homes (I checked out a few for comparison at the adjoining H&G showcase). Too bad, though: door handles at shoulder height is kind of a deal breaker for me.
  7. Ok, so . . . here's the final (for now) look I've come up with, using Altamura's "Juliet" full body mesh avatar. I'm pretty pleased with the result. I'd always wanted Laskya to look different from Scylla: a little sharper, a little darker, more "handsome" than beautiful or pretty, and with maybe a slight suggestion of a wicked sense of humour. (The actual sense of humour, unfortunately, they haven't yet invented an attachment for.) I think there's an obvious family resemblance to Scylla, but Laskya is (hopefully) sufficiently differentiated that she retains her own visual identity. This was taken at the DixMix Gallery, btw . . . I wish I'd remembered to grab the SLURL, as it's quite nice. Also, I'm using Orwar's "Sol" projector. I've built myself a very simple (HUDless) three point light attachment too, for which I might produce a simply set of instructions and give away for free if there is any interest.
  8. Everyone has always said that Scylla was the one with the good looks in our family . . . Well, ok. Mainly it was Scylla who said that . . . I decided to give the free "Juliet" mesh body and head from Altamura a try, and . . . wow. I really like it. It seems to be very responsive to sliders, and I like the overall look a lot. The HUD is a bit clunky (although maybe I'm just not used to it), but the alpha slices are much more fine and precise than on Scylla's Slink body. There are likely going to be some problems finding fitmesh clothes, but apparently standard Maitreya and Physique works not badly. This is a quick and dirty pic of my first edit on her shape, with [TheSkinnery] "Celine" skin. Much tweaking left to do, but I think this is going to work very well. I think I have a bit of a Charlotte Rampling thing happening here . . . Oh, and dearest Scylla? Pfffffffffft.
  9. Oh no! I missed you???? You should have said hi!! I'm sorry I didn't see you!
  10. "And maybe she's even right. Maybe there will be another Alt Party. But I wanted to go to this one! Selfish cow. Oh well. Anyway . . . thanks for a being a good listener. . . . So, um . . . when do you get off work?"
  11. Waiting for Gyoza. And Scylla, who is (as per usual) late. This is a lovely little build across from SLLU Unity Station on the Heterocera SLRR line. I love that SL features these beautiful little gems that serve, so far as one can see, no useful purpose except to surprise and delight.
  12. EVERYONE needs an alt! They make your SL richer and more complete! (Unless your alt is Snugs, of course. In which case, they just make your SL more difficult. Like living with mum.)
  13. Ok, so I finally got to do some shopping, and buy myself a new and more modern skin. Here is my current look, although possibly it doesn't show off the skin particularly well. Yeah, I know what you're thinking! Laskya, this can't possibly be a system avatar! (Well, wrong! It is!) How can you look this good on the meagre budget your miserly main allows you? (It's difficult, but I'm a magician at budgeting!) And those boots are much nicer than anything Scylla owns! (Heh, yeah. And she knows it, too!) Anyway, I've made good progress on getting myself ready for the upcoming "Alt Party"!
  14. It looks as though it is working beautifully! As I was reminded when I logged on last night and tried to take some pics of myself, my keyboardist has given all of the good toys to Scylla (hiss!), so I don't have any lights or projectors. I think I might try Orwar's (if only to read the notecard!)
  15. Well, not a regular poster on this thread, but prolific elsewhere, with more than 4 times as many "reputation points" as that old washout, Scylla, has. Clues coming! Gosh, it DOES! (I really thought the octopus avi was a dead giveaway!) Oh, you're very very warm. Hot, even.
  16. YEAH! What SHE said ^^^^ But yes, also, I'm not looking too awful here. I think, however, a new mesh head (or maybe just skin), and Bento hands would be a good idea. Speaking of alts, while I was on last night, I met up with an old Forum friend in a somewhat unusual guise (and also an even more unusual alt of hers). I won't spoil the surprise: you have to guess who this is (you undoubtedly know her).
  17. Hi. My name is Laskya. I'm Scylla's "alt." (/me rolls eyes, and points to her forum content count) I have a system body, rigged mesh clothing that dates from ca. 2014, and (at least) relatively contemporary mesh hair. I don't know much about where I am in this picture, but it more or less suits my current mood. Especially the pool of blood on the floor (just out of camera shot: this is a family forum, after all.) I look like crap, in large measure because I have been terribly neglected by my keyboardist, who should be seriously ashamed of herself. Please have a word with her. Thank you.
  18. Friends don't make friends materialize at will. But I do hope to see you around, when you are around!
  19. See? It totally works! I mean, it did work, right? That's how you found yourself here? (And hi, Canoro! It's lovely to see you. )
  20. Only if they are angry, humourless, FEMINIST unicorns, with horns that gleam with the Blood of the Patriarchy. As for flutterbies . . . yeah, sure. They're pretty.
  21. @Dillon Levenque @Derek Torvalar @Avery Crazyboi @Canoro Philipp @Snugs McMasters @Marianne McCann WHEEEEE!!!!! @Scylla Rhiadra @Beezle Warburton
