After reading all of your forum posts and taking a quick scan of your groups inworld I can see why someone may be creeped out that people would just gift you this. I think I can figure out the rest. The look isn't all that either, a clone of anyone else using that av.
  2. I have had this problem a few times and my internet connection checked out fine and I am hard wired to the modem. I would give it a few minutes then try and change to a different outfit if you have saved outfits, that has worked for me. Also, you may want to try and remove any tattoo layers, including makeup and replacing them one by one. if you have on an underwear layer for example that is used for a tatoo, etc and then another underwear layer for panties, that can also be a problem, just remove them and reapply them in order.

Then, I edited them and paid 10L each to upload them in SL, with the plans of sharing them with the person that I took them with. However, for some reason, I don't have permissions for the pictures that I PAID to uplad that BELONG TO ME. When I go to properties, under what you can do "copy, transfer, modfy" are all greyed out. What's the point in spending L on now useless textures?? Is this a bug or something I'm doing wrong? I am not sure what viewer you are using and only use Firestorm so i can't say if the menu on the viewer is near the same on any other. You should set your default upload permissions before making the texture. On the viewer go to Avatar > Upload > Ste default upload permissions. You need to make sure that you have the 3 boxes checked as shown in the picture or you can't share on a notecard or anything else, the person that will receivee your texture can't share it or they will lose it out of their inventory. Then..
  4. The only site I would go by for actual facts is the SSA site. here is a link that explains the "Ticket to Work" program. It is vague in the explaination of how it works if you work and collect disability, if your work trial pans out, you don't receive the benefits after a short time period while working. The SSA gives you approximately a month to be at your new job before stopping benefits. IF you cannot hold the job, your SSDI case will open back up within a few weeks, so no court hearings, no nothing, you are already enrolled in the program. The book from the SSA explains it in detail on how long your benefits will keep coming if you choose to work. This comes from the official SSA handbook guide that attorneys and SSA Admiistrative judges use for determintaion. SSDI benefit amounts and rules do not vary from state to state, SSI benefits do. http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/EN-05-10029.pdf

And without being just friends with benefits. I'm not opposed to commitment. I don't think of women as dolls to use and put away. It's the DRAMA I am tired of. The jealousy...the tears...the moods..the being distant when something is perceived...the stalking...the creating alts to hit on me to "test" my devotion...the feeling of obligation to spend 100% of my SL time with the other person or there will be more drama There has to be a happy medium somewhere. There must be a way for a man in SL to enjoy a female without owning her, picking her up in a jazz club for a one night stand or "dating" and being tormented by all the moods and expectations. Both parties can have free time to do their own thing without the "I FEEL DISTANCE BETWEEN US" talk. So maybe I don't have the right term for it...what would you call this? a mistress? Sion, my bolding above. Your only 4 days old and you are worried about others creating alts? Hmm. Your words strike me almost ot a tee and...your avi's rez date. Some day that July 12th was. Good luck in finding someone who meets YOUR criteria

I hear that is quite illegal in the U.S. check with the Social Security administration. That's not factually true. Also... not so sure the prople fearing this move are the same people who push for others to upgrade. I think its much more than the issue has some people from all camps, now on varying sides on this topic. My concerns are user based: I want what I jump to to have at least the scale of community I see here. I want to be able to make a neko avatar again, and a furry - this was why I never moved to InWorldz. By the time they claim they had the ability for me to get a neko... their moment in the spotlight was passed. I don't look forward to the expensive process of buying land again - and not being able to fund it by selling my old land. And I'm particular about the nature of where I buy so I'm nervous about what will be the nature of what they offer... This is one of many reasons why I never jumped to Cloud Party... because I'm not into skyboxes. But I agree technology needs to move forward. And I've already said why I feel LLs needs to be the one behind it. It is true unless you are on the "Ticket to Work" program with SSDI. I have disabled friends that collect benefits and have gone to a hearing with one particular friend. SSI is a state level program for those who do not have enough work quarters paid into the Social Security Administration and their rules are even more strict. To me, I have seen a lot of people on various threads being the same people that have made remarks to those that could not even log onto SL without better hardware. Isn't that sort of the same concept? You can't use your inventory if you can't log on. The reason I amke that comparasion is because some people will NEVER be able to get the hardware to support SL, so at least moving to a new and hopefully, improved VW, those fearing will have a new place to reside in. Your points make a lot of sense and are understandable. I have tried other VW and none compare to SL at all, not to me anyways. I don't look forward to the expense of buying things that won't transfer, but I realize it is not my decision to decide that and if it hinders the new platform then that is LL's call. People seem to be acting like they thought their virtual belongings would last until dooms day and to me that is just not reasonable thinking. I, like you hope to keep my visual identity as close as possible, but if it doesn't happen right away, it may down the road.
  7. I have to agree with you on this so called loss issue. I see it funny, first off that these same people complaining about technology moving forward are the same people that have always put down those who could not afford the hardware to keep with SL's updates. I guess an opinion changes when it fits the person's own situation. That is what i have seen all over this forum for years. I myself have invested over thousands of dollars into SL, but guess what? It was MY choice to do so, no one made me so when the time comes and objects cannot be transferred then it was of my own choice, still. Come on people. If you buy a car and you have it for 10 years, do you cry over the fact you can't use it anymore, or do you purchase another or find another means otf transportation? Phil has very valid points, everyone and anyone that has paid for things in SL has had to know at one point it wasn't going to be available forever. For you creators (not so much hobby creators as they fall under the category of people who use SL as a past time) did you relly think that SL was going to last forever? I mean if you are balking over whatever "investment" you made for YOUR business that hangs off someone else's actual business, maybe you need to take a RL business course in risk and management. The creators that are going to come out and say this is their only means of income need to take that RL class as well. If you are disabled and receiving disability benefits, Why then you should not be making any money on the side, now should you? I hear that is quite illegal in the U.S. check with the Social Security administration. If you are out of the U.S. I don't have a clue on benefits such as those, but using SL as a sole means of income or even part is really a bad decision. Take an online course in businees, sell on other venues, act like an adult. I look forward to a new platform and all the thousands of USD that I have paid out was worth the years of using the objects, renting the land, whatever you want to call it. This is of course, my opinion, but seems there is a lot of factual points in it.

SLU has many good points and people, but I do not consider it by any means a kindler gentler or more polite forum, and I very much doubt any such reputation was the cause of Ebbe posting there initially. No one said you didn't read extensively. Your opinion on the forums is yours and the forums politelness or lackthereof, either one has nothing to do with Ebbe, what even gave you that idea? maybe you didn't understand my comment to him.

LOL Useless arguments to the topic anyway! So I leave it at this. I wrote earlier anyway, not first.. but hey. There are useless for information regarding a company unless it is the company's blog. I wasn't aware of an arguement? Good choice to leave it as my comment was directed to Ebbe and only he has the answer.

I have spent a great deal of time in both forums (and previously in the SLX/Xstreet forum). All of them have had some ugly stuff in them at times.* To screen it out would mean some pretty strict enforcement of some pretty restrictive rules, which few seem to want. That said, I quail at the rude things that have been said in this thread. (On SLX they would have been removed.) * Actually the merchant forum here, tho not without some occasional heated discussions, has been moderated very well, IMO. It has been kept mostly on topic, and insults and personal attacks not tolerated. All forums have ugly stuff. Nothing was mentioned about restricting anything. This forum is known for the unwelcoming way it hands to people. I only said i can understand why he didn't post here first. if you read in all of these places i would think you could see a huge difference with this forum, as some of the regular posters have even pointed out. I do agree the merchant and technology forums are a lot different and interesting topics are discussed. The GD forum has always been a place where the not so nice stuff seems to spew. I am not for censorship if that's what you got from my post, I was merely making a comment to Ebbe.

I want to know is how us poor schmucks (like me who have shelled out real money for almost 8 years now as a Premium member) who aren't merchants will figure into the equation? The fact that the CEO spoke first with the "opinion leaders and VIPs" over at SLU speaks volumes, IMO. Yeah I know that without content there's no VW but, I also know that without people to create for there's likewise no VW. Sorry but, I don't want to be seen as just another "consumer"; an ignorant open maw that takes whatever gets shovelled down its throat, important only because it has a wallet attached to it. All I know for sure is that whatever LL is working on had better be damned compelling for me to give up potentially 8 years plus worth of accumulated knowledge (and inventory) and they'd better start making that case as soon as possible. Otherwise as news of this gets more widely distributed people will panic and will start making plans to leave what will be seen as a sinking ship. When the content creators are king, that really means the consumers are king. Content creators have to cater to the consumers. The reality is that creators are slaves to the consumer's will. My bolding is indicitave of the way you worded this. I for one appreciate content creators but they are in no way a slave to me. Is my wllet a slave to them? No. There are a few people I have a high level of respect for that allow me to have more things to enjoy SL. Those are also the creators that I would spend a lot more than what they charge to purchase an item. I am not one of the free for all mindset. If you had no consumers, you would just be playing with your toys alone and the consumers would either learn to make their things or go without and be very basic in the use.
  13. Phil Deakins wrote: Vinten wrote: Ok let's cut to the chase and here is the bottom line, I hope LL reads this because this is and will remain unanswered: Nobody is really opposed to a better platform that will make the user experience better. What people are opposed to is the investment everyone has made into their assets / inventory from a financial perspective. If we ( the sl users ) did not by stuff and make an economy for LL to profit, LL could not afford the new platform. So now LL could press the delete button eventually on our assets to build a more expensive delete button for the future. To Linden Labs: How are you going to compensate us for this if we cannot transfer our assets? Simple enough question, simple understandable answer required . Quite frankly, that is such a sefl-centred attitude. Haven't you had pleasure from the things you bought in SL? Did you genuinely imagine that the things you bought would last forever once you'd paid a pittance for each one? You've had plenty of pleasure from each item and you should be very pleased to have had all those pleasures for such a very small cost. So, if some, most, or even all of your stuff can't be moved to SL2, just be very pleased that you've had all that enjoyment for such a small cost. Phil- Not all of us just poured in a small pittance as you say to enjoy Second Life. Not one of us in this community can put judgement on what a small pittance is or a large sum of money for enjoyment. Don't argue for the sake of argueing, if you want to start shelling out monetary numbers, let's start a thread about that and that alone on how we can judge others for their spending in Second Life.
  14. Ebbe Linden wrote: It will take a long time. So SL will continue to be there and we'll continue to improve it. And we'll do the absolute best we can to help you all get going on the new product when it's ready. How exactly and when exactly and how long etc. we will find out with time. But we have to make this invesment in the future to make what we all enjoy much much better. Ebbe- All things must move forward, that is a simple way of advancemnet in life itself. I think you may not be understanding the frustration that all of us Residents who have been told things over the years that made us lose faith in LL for very good reason. YOU have just came on board so even if information you receive from your fellow workers there at LL I am sure and can guarantee the truth and validation is way off. SL is not just content creators, every resident plays an integral part of this community. You can create until your hearts content, but without buyers like myself and many, many others, you have created content that isn't moving. Many of us have spent a lot of money, granted it should be entertainment money and not something we could not afford to lose, BUT it is not like LL is shutting the doors to the entire company, LL is stating they are making a new improved BETTER world so there is that importance you need to understand on what we as residents value oursleves here and what made us sink our money into Second life. If LL doors were closing I could see anyone making a comment about their inventory, business products, etc..MOOT. But that is not the case. Listen to your user base and not just a select few LL seems to give privy information to, I can say that the people that have been allowed first hand information on this new plan are not in the vast majority of what built Second Life all these years, seriously. We have been treated like fools for years but still the magic that we felt all as residents of this community kept this place alive...not LL. I hope you take into consideration what was really built here and not just keep saying "better." We are pretty intelligent as a community. Finally, I can see why you had gone to SLU instead of this forum. Many replies and bashing speak for itself.

I never mentioned wanting to RP or Not to RP in any sim in my reply. It was of interest to me as I RP in sl everytime I am logged if not racing. I did interpret your dislike as it was taken to a personal level and you posted it so you will get replies, some that you don't like. I also am not sure where the not wanting to create conflict came from, you type it as if it came from me. I simply replied to a post. I just went through the history of your postings and see why it was possible you replied to me this way. Hopefully the new RP sim you are on will be one you will enjoy.
