  1. Second Life 3.6.12 (284506) Dec 4 2013 04:55:18 (Second Life Release)
  2. i changed those settings but still got the same error message today. could this have something to do with my virus detection program? i'm using Norton Internet Securities.
  3. hi, I'm new to second life and playing on a new computer. i got a message bubble that Second Life was using CPU. i didn't get a chance to click on the message to read it. how can i make sure that Second Life isn't causing damage to my computer by over heating it? CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3340 CPU @ 3.10GHz (3093.03 MHz) Memory: 8101 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 650/PCIe/SSE2 Windows Graphics Driver Version: 9.18.0013.3182 OpenGL Version: 4.4.0 libcurl Version: libcurl/7.21.1 OpenSSL/0.9.8q zlib/1.2.5 c-ares/1.7.1 J2C Decoder Version: KDU v7.0 Audio Driver Version: FMOD Ex 4.44.12 Qt Webkit Version: 4.7.1 (version number hard-coded) Voice Server Version: Not Connected Built with MSVC version 1600
  4. hi, i'm using the most recent versioin of the second life viewer. i am trying to purchase a free item (https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Figgis-Hockey-Bears-FREEBIE-GOHA-Bear/3603038) but it is not showing up in my objects folder. i also don't have a received folder. i don't know if its a problem with the object itself or my account. i have already tried a clean reinstall. edit 1) yes i've tried clearing the cache, and 2 different browsers (i.e. & firefox). the item just stays in the shopping cart when i check out. i'm using windows 7. edit 2) in response to the first reply...should i not have a "received" folder? edit 3) i still can't find a received folder. in response to my original question, i am now getting a message on the market page "Figgis Hockey Bears - FREEBIE GOHA Bear Version 1.0 could not be added to your cart, try again later." edit 4) @KarenMichelle i click on check out, it logs me out, i type in my login, but then it takes me right back to the marketplace start page. meanwhile the item is still in my shopping cart. i never get further than that. now i'm not getting the unavailable message any more though. @Rolig Loon i'm not using any adblock or other software with second life. this is kind of confusing/annoying way to have to reply to threads...but i guess it cuts down on spam. edit 5) @Rolig Loon same problem with that one... i've been able to pick up freebies in game without a problem. this is my first time using the marketplace. could it be a virus protection problem? i'm using norton but i'm pretty sure i have it set to accept secondlife with my firewall. pretty sure. it still shows the item in the shopping cart. it never finishes the transaction for some reason. i've looked in my inventory as well it's not there as far as i can tell. edit 6) i only have an inventory and library folder, nothing under it. and i have an objects folder inside my inventory folder. edit 7) @Rolig Loon i have tried clicking buy now and check out, same thing on both. i have also just changed my norton to "allow" instead of "auto" on norton internet security and still no change. @ KarenMichelle Lane i've tried resetting firefox, i've installed chrome & tried the transaction there as well, same result. still haven't resolved the problem. i downloaded & ran the AdwCleaner but it didn't find anything. i didn't really expect it to since i've only had this computer for a month....since it is a brand new, custom built computer, could i be missing a bit of software that i need for the "GUID" transaction thing? EDIT 8) DERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!! so dumb....this whole time when i had been clicking on CHECK OUT, i did not see the PLACE ORDER button at the bottom of the screen!!!! so now it works, they're delivered to my inventory....in a brand new received folder that just appeared. so @ KarenMichelle Lane i guess i hadn't been completing the transaction. but usually that's what check out means? LOL! i guess that's what you were trying to tell me. *******just a suggestion: it might be helpful for others in the future if that 'place order' button can be moved up to the top by the checkout button?******** thank you all for your help! /end
  5. hi, i just upgraded to a brand new Geforce GTX 650 graphics card today. everything worked fine this afternoon when i tried second life out. but then while i was chatting with a friend i lost my ability to fly. the next time i tried logging into second life it crashed right away. now it crashes every time i login right away. i have checked and the graphics card driver is up to date. CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3340 CPU @ 3.10GHz (3093 MHz) Memory: 8101 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 650/PCIe/SSE2 Windows Graphics Driver Version: 9.18.0013.3182 OpenGL Version: 4.4.0
  6. hi, i've just started playing second life. the first couple days, everything was fine. then it started crashing. then crashing a lot. i can log on, walk a few feet (sometimes a little longer), then i crash. sometimes i get an error message, "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" in Windows 7. i've tried 2 clean installs (emptying temp folder before). and i've set windows defender to allow second life viewer. i'm using a brand new computer that i've had less than 2 months so i don't think this is a graphics card problem since it only happens when i play second life, not when i use illustrator, photoshop or blender. system: windows 7 home premium service pack 1 RAM: installed: 8gb, (7.66usable) system type: 64bit processor: intel core i5-3340cpu @ 3.10ghz EDIT: i can't figure out how to reply to this post so i'm editing it in response to the first answer below: new information from my second life login screen: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3340 CPU @ 3.10GHz (3092.99 MHz) Memory: 7841 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Graphics Card Vendor: Intel Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 2500 EDIT: 12/12/2013 decided to buy the geforce GTX 650 graphics card.
