I just recently upgraded to mesh. It was 2 Xmases ago but I did it and then I got caught up in other games that I never really bothered with any of it afterwards. I ended up getting the Jake body but wasn't a fan of the calves so really wanted a Legacy I think it was. Few months after getting the Jake body the Legacy one was on sale so I pulled the trigger and I never even unpacked it before getting caught back up in other games. I'm not even sure which legacy it is. I think it said it was special edition 1.2 or something in my inventory when I was online earlier. Is it any good? I heard it was a pain to use? I also TP'd over to Legacy earlier and saw the Classic was free. Was curious when that happened? And if you can get a free head anywhere? Mainly asking incase I ever make an alt or need to make an alt I can throw together a decent look for cheap.

I never have any clue what I am doing. I finally updated my AV 2 Xmases ago and got the Jake body since it was really cheap. Then got a free leluka (sp?) head and then found some free clothes during an Xmas event and so I just left it at that. Then a few months later the Legacy body went on sale so I ended up buying that one but it's been sitting in my inventory unpacked for at least a year now. Never used it. I also went to tons of hair places and could never find a hair I liked so not really satisfied with that aspect of my AV either. I guess I've been lazy cause not really much to do in SL these days so I usuaully just stand at the same sim when I'm logged in. Can't get motivated to do anything. I heard the Legacy body is a pain so maybe you could help with that sometime? Might motivate me to actually unpack it and try it out. Also, as someone commented above.. how do you find mentors in SL?

So I haven't really been doing anything in SL the last few years. I never go anywhere. Sad I know but oh well. Anyways, so a couple years ago when I was playing around Xmas time I actually went and did some events. I remember going to The Man Cave Event place and they had stuff from tons of shops there but also most shops had a free gift for you as well. I just saw a video on YT that had some nice stuff there so figured I'd try it out again but I don't think I know what I'm doing now or I'm blind. But I'm not seeing freebies this go around? What exactly is this place? Is it just a place where creators come together and put stuff up on sale every month? Do they SOMETIMES have freebies or is that only for Xmas?

Tried the New Resident Services.. group is set to private and they don't have a SIM anymore. Shame. Sounded like a good group to be in for new comers and vets alike. Will keep going through the list and see if there's any still active. *Fingers Crossed

I remember a long time ago in SL there were a bunch of free stores that gave out free noob clothing, free scripts, free textures, free sound files. I'm browing the Marketplace right now and don't really see sound packs or anything. Just random sounds or silent sounds. I'm mainly after sounds I can use for different notifications in world so would be cool to find a big sound pack that I can test them all out and decide which sounds to use for certain notifications. Any ideas?

Title. I've been in SL for years but never really had a place to ask questions so I still don't know how to do a few things and so I got to thinking it would be nice if there was a group where people can ask general questions on how to do things from AVs to invnentory to scripts etc. Is there a group in world for this? I will go ahead and ask my main question in here to so if anyone knows the asnwer to this please let me know: I want to change my notifications in my Firestorm viewer. You need UUIDs of sounds to do so. Well when I right click on any of the default sounds that Linden Labs gives you (Wolf Whistle for example) the "Copy Asset UUID" is greyed out so I can't get the UUID of it to use it as a notification. Why? Is there another way of finding the UUID for the default sounds that came from LL?

I heard a few days ago there were Easter events. Didn't have time to really look into it but now I do. I do use that Seraphim website but I find it a bit.. overwhelming. Way too much stuff to keep track of. I've either missed the Easter event entirely or I just can't seem to find it buried in with all the rest of the stuff.. Anyone know of any events/hunts going on for guys right now or if I missed it? Thanks!

Going mesh is giving me a headache. The clothing I get. But it's putting together the body/skin/head that grinds my gears. For instance. I have the Jake Mesh Body and a Free EvoX head I got from the Xmas event. I think it's the Logan head. I'm not on to check. Anyways, the HUD for the Jake Body has skins in there and when I click them they work. Great. But the Jake Body folder also has other skins that came with it that are like tatoos I guess? And for some reason I have to remove my alphas to get those to work. That's what is confusing me. I can't figure out when to use alphas for my naked self to appear and when not to. Obviously I know when to use them when it comes to clothing.. just use the HUD and hide the parts you don't want to see that glitch through the material. That's easy. But it's confusing when just putting together the head and body. I can never figure out when to use the alphas and not. And also what are those tattoo skins even called? Bake on Mesh I'm assuming? If so then what are the skins that are on the HUD itself? When using the HUD I have to use alphas. When I don't use the HUD I don't need alphas. Ughhh see I'm already getting a headache just thinking about it lol. Any help would be much appreciated

I came back before Xmas and was trying to get into mesh but it's been such a headache. Anyways, I have the Jake Mesh Body from Beleeza or w/e that place is called. But that's as far as I've gotten. I took a break again after New Years so never really got anything. Just a bunch of demos. And I remember hearing from someone a while back that there is a skin event or something where you can find some really good skins on sale and that they do it once a year. A bunch of vendors get together and do this. Anyone know what I am referring to and if I already missed it or is it coming up? Thanks!

The mods in that group get mad when you ask questions in there not directly pertaining to the viewer. Which is why I am here asking for a more general group for that.

I use Firestorm so I've been in that group for a while now and that group is great for viewer issues/problems. But I got to thinking.. what if I just had a general question or something and I don't want to flood the forums with every question I have. Are there any popular help groups in world for that sort of thing?

No my hover is fine. I'm talking about showing skin between the shoe and the pant leg. That's considered ''flooding''

I have been trying on various pants and shoes for hours now and they ALL have given the flooding look. I hate that. I am using Jake body demo and demos of several pants/shoes. And all have this problem. Even dress pants where you are supposed to use low top dress shoes. Does anyone else have this issue? Any recommendations to fix this or designers that pants/shoes work well together? Attaching some pics below to show what I am talking about:

Good lookin out on the Man Cave event. And the tip about the hairbases. Unfortunately none of them match up well with the hair I'm going for but I did manage to find some facial hair in there that I can live with so there's one more thing down! I did have one issue.. I tried some facial hair from Stray Dog where I got some skin demos and I couldn't get them to work with my EvoX. So maybe they aren't X compatible yet? Anyone have any facial hair recommendations? I totally forgot about AOs. I am familiar with them from years ago. Adding my animations to them manually via notecard and what not but since I am using an old AV that I never used I don't have a good AO or any animations other than what you start with and since everything is all mocap and bento and mesh now I'm sure animations have changed? What would be a good free updated AO? And what about a good paid one for when I get things rolling on SL again? Many thanks for putting up with all my questions🤪

Been busy with the Holidays and all and been struggling getting the skins and shape and all that to work as I had no clue what I was doing so many thanks to Ayashe answering a million of my questions and everyone else in here commenting and guiding me on. Here's what I have so far. It's not much but I think it will probably turn out ok I want to see what it looks like with some light facial hair/stubbles. And I need a hair base for this hair so I'm not bald on the back and around the sides The clothing I found completely free on the MP. Really liking the flip flops and the shorts aren't too bad. Not a fan of the shirt (sorry creator) but hey it's a start so I can cover up in public while I shop lol.

No no no, I was saying I like the shape.. that's what I'm going for. Not the clothes or anything else. I've heard Gianni is better than Jake or there is just slightly more things for Gianni so I don't mind splurging on Gianni in the future when I have the funds if that's true. Hopefully a sale happens too and then it won't be so bad. But I'm always on literally. So anytime is fine with me. I'm EST (SLT+3) I can go ahead and friend you and you can let me know. Thanks

Oh wow thanks yes I am definitely interested. My head is killing me already lol but I just ate some lunch so I feel better now. Food always sooths my soul. Might be hard getting into some places though with all the events and freebies going on right now. Eek! EDIT: Will drop a pic of what I'm kinda going for shape wise if it helps(took a snap of someone several weeks ago).... not necessarily the skin or hair/eyes/etc but the shape is about what I'm after. Something not too buff and not as thick as some of the ones I've seen I guess lol

Ohh see I thought the skin I got from Stray Dog was a body skin lol. How do you know the difference between body and face skins?? Now I might as well pick those other 2 up because I thought the skin from stray dog was a body skin /me sighs and bangs head on wall
