  1. We got our dogs as adults, so there was no way to train them as puppies. Our oldest, a German Shepherd/Lab/???Husky?? mix was 2 when we got her from a rescue. She had quite a bit of anxiety and a tendency to escape. She was quite reactive but has calmed down in her old age (she's now 11 years old) and only barks when she sees someone coming to the door. Our newest furbaby is a 2-year-old Lab/something mix. We got her when her previous owners, who lived on an acreage, were transferred to a city and couldn't take her. After she'd been with us for a couple of days, it was obvious she hadn't been well-socialized at all. She's very, very leash aggressive, and barks at our neighbours' dogs (we don't have a back lane, so the houses are only separated by fences) at the back and to the right. The neighbour at the back has a coonhound and the ones on the right have at least 2 beagles and a couple of little dogs. Our young one used to like to "fence fight" and she has a vertical leap that lets her look over the top of the fence. We have finally been able to somewhat stop her from doing the "fence fight" by shooting a stream of water from the hose. It breaks her attention away from the other dogs, and the last couple of days she's stopped at a word from either of us when she hears them outside. We still have to work on when we're not out with her, and of course, her aggressiveness on the leash. Harness and muzzle are future purchases when finances improve. Other than that, she's an extremely sweet dog and very eager to please.
  2. My current peeve is being unable to find a job. I was let go when the organization did a mass layoff in January and since then...I'm apparently unemployable. I've had interviews, but less than 10, and I'm very frustrated and stressed. I'd go back to school, but the cash isn't there for that, we need every cent for current bills and rent. I don't qualify for any sort of loan as my credit score is so far down in the toilet there isn't even a metaphor for it.
  3. Today has been a crappy day, all due to people and technology. I hate iMacs, with everything I have. iMacs can suck things I can't say here. I have to use one for work and I swear if it hadn't been for the fact it's not technically or legally mine, I'd have got over my fear of heights and tossed it from the highest window in the city, put it all back together and tossed it again. I'm not a huge fan of pc's right now either. And people...don't get me started on them. I am so glad it's Friday. I wish I still didn't have to deal with people, even family. Hopefully a night's sleep will help.
  4. JFC. I have absolutely no interest in your, or anyone else's data. Again, I DO NOT have any affiliation with data collectors of any kind, nor do I want it.
  5. I was being sarcastic, yes. That was the reason for the quotation marks. I do not have, nor do I want, any affiliation to data collectors of any kind.
  6. "We had no idea people would be so concerned about this, and in our defense we thought no one would find out!"
  7. I like the lived-in look, too. I have quite a bit of "clutter" in my Linden House, with a coffee maker, cup tree, cannisters, etc on the kitchen counters, slippers in front of the fireplace, a hall console table with magazine and mail and shoes underneath. In my bathroom there's a full laundry hamper, a sideboard with soaps, oils and bath bombs, and a sink with makeup and towels. My bedroom has a sweater draped over a chair, shoes in the corner, and a jewellery box and perfume bottles on the dresser. I do love how we can have messy, tidy and anything in between.
  8. You've been given excellent reasons why it's not possible, one of which you accept. How many more do you think you need? It's not possible, and it's not going to be made possible. Deal with it.
  9. This, I think, can be filed under Part Peeve, Part WTF is the Matter with My Brain??? The other half called me over to show me a sign he thought I'd find funny. "No Trespassing - We're tired of hiding the bodies" First thing I said? "Why do we have to keep hiding them? Why don't we just keep them hidden?" And now we're both confused. Him because I'm not understanding that "visitors" will not be leaving, and me because I'm wondering why we keep inviting people over if we've got all these bodies just lying around. I swear I can walk and chew gum. I really can dress myself.
  10. I really sympathise here. I had a fantastic gaming laptop that ran SL on Ultra graphics for like 6 years. No troubles, rare lag, it was incredible. Now I have no screen. It boots up, fan runs, keyboard turns on, but the screen remains blank. I have a very old desktop that a former client gave us in lieu of payment (and did he get the better deal!). It gets me on SL, but is very crotchety and freezes at random times. I also have my youngest's old laptop, but it's a refurbished Lenovo and won't run anything without massive complaints. I loved photography as well, but these machines aren't even close to useful.
  11. I was a rare poster. I lurk now because I enjoy reading other people's posts and observing the interactions, both here and inworld. I don't think any of my previous posts really added anything to the forums so I leave the posting to those who are far more knowledgable and enjoyable.
  12. I'm currently unable to change the maturity setting back to G, M, A on Marketplace. I have logged out and in again, cleared my browser cache, checked on two different browsers (Chrome and Edge) and checked the ratings inworld, on both Firestorm and the official viewer - twice. The viewers show I have G, M, A checked. I'm really hoping there is something I can do to get this rating back. Any help would be appreciated. *EDIT I was logged in, it was one of the first things I made sure of, and checked on 2 different computers. Filed a support ticket and the problem has been resolved.
  13. Barnesworth Anubis has some great houses. Different styles, sizes and reasonably priced.
  14. I wrote a few things for my 1st life profile; they've been there pretty much since I started - just the answers to the most common questions. The picture is in response to some jerk who insisted I was ashamed of my real-life self, since I didn't have a pic there. It's a school picture of a little girl with her finger up her nose. I have no idea who it really is, but I find it amusing, so it stays.
  15. I hope this is the correct place to ask this. I did search for an answer and couldn't find anything recent. Is there a way to save photos I take in Second Life to Google Drive, other than sending them as an email attachment? I am using Firestorm. I don't see any way of doing it in the viewer. Thank you for any help.
  16. I have to agree. I have the LAQ kitchen, and no matter how many other ones I buy, I always return to that one. It's copiable, so you can have as many cabinets/counters you want, it's texture-changing... I also love the bedroom set for the same reason, and it's also one of the only sets I've seen that allow you to lie underneath the covers. I'd love if they'd get back to doing furniture/decor.
  17. One of my RL best friends told me about SL in 2010. She was into medieval/fantasy roleplay and she made it sound like so much fun. I made an account in May of that year, started roleplaying at the same sim as my friend, and had a blast until January of 2012 when my RL marriage fell apart. I took a break for a little over a year, and when I came back, nearly all the people and sims were gone. Try as I might, I could not make my avatar modern in any way, she was thoroughly medieval, so I retired her and created Charlotte/Charlie. My friend left SL sometime in 2011, and now there is no one in SL that I know in RL. Neither of my kids has any interest in it, my now-ex husband only said when I first mentioned joining SL, "Isn't that that sex dungeon place?"
  18. "Well, Art is Art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now you tell me what you know." Groucho Marx
  19. My two three current pet peeves combine to make one giant peeve of miserable proportions. House w/o central air conditioning + heat wave + hot flashes = one giant PITA. Never thought I'd say this but I can't wait for the end of summer.
