  1. "No media plugin was found to handle the text/html mime type. Media of this type will be unavailable." What's annoying is that I have no idea what is happening and I can't simply "X" it out. Suggestions? Thank you!
  2. Just because something isn't "real" doesn't mean it's a game. It amazes me that so many people over analyze on wether or not SL is a game or not that it kills their enjoyment and then may even try to kill the enjoyment of thers. If it is, so what? If it isn't, so what? True, many do take SL a bit too seriously but if not and the person is doing no harm, why does it matter? Like real life, you have the opprotunity to make the most of your time here. To me, asking wether or not SL is a game or not is like asking what's the meaning of life. Each person has their own personal answer to that question. In my opinion, all of us just want to have fun and feel fufilled. I see no difference in SL other than that SL may also be a part of their RL fufillment.
  3. I'm choosing between: Intel® Core™ i5-4670K Processor (4x 3.40GHz/6MB L3 Cache AND Intel® Core™ i7-4770 Processor (4x 3.40GHz/8MB L3 Cache) Is there a MAJOR difference between the two and does it impact SL and gaming in general? Can I just have a fufilling experience alone with the i5 or will I be missing out with the i7? I can post more info on the specs of the computer I'm buying if you need it but this is what I'm indecisive about so far. Thanks in advance!
  4. Hello, I'm searching for facial hair for my anime avatar. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow any tattoo layers (that I know of) to show up on the avatar head. Any ideas on how I can work this out?
  5. Try detaching and reattaching the HUD. I had the same issue when I used to play. If that's not that case, it may be lag but I'm not totally sure.
  6. From my experience, I haven't seen any difference between lag for any of the TPVs I've experimented with. However, I found Firestorm to be the viewer with the most features and from what I hear, Singularity is an excellent solution for older computers for lag but I can't really say since I can't tell any difference of lag from the TPVs and the LL viewer. I personally just stick with the LL viewer but, I would suggest Firestorm since they have nice features, higher frame rates (from what I hear), and a helpful support group who helped me understand the viewer and to navigate using it.
  7. Try: CTRL+ALT+T (If used correctly, your walls should at least show up as being red) Try rebaking your textures (CTRL+ALT+D) I hope this works/helps!
  8. I would suggest you don't buy a laptop but a desktop if you already own one. Not saying SL doesn't run well on it because they definitely can, it's just that with a desktop there are many sites where you can build one for cheap and you have that nifty feature to upgrade If you still wanna buy one then I suggest you check out ibuypower. They have some pretty cheap laptops and alot of horsepower considering. I'm not totally sure on everything but just keep your eyes peeled for a good graphics card selection. I hear for nvidia that the numbers are like xyz(ex:760 where 7 is the model number, 6 is the horse power, and I'm not sure what z is.) Once you made a decision, run it by SL answers section of the forum to see how it would run SL. Also, don't just buy the computer for SL and consider what other programs you'll be using.

Here's what I would like to do: Run settings on high with shaders and everything.Enter sims with a good number of people (25+)Draw distance around 100-200 maybe.Try to maintain a good FPS. (20 is fine but 35+ is beautiful!) Any suggestions to modifications to this setup are welcome. I'm a bit confused on choosing the type of RAM. I would prefer only 8 and I think that's more than enough but I'm not sure on what to choose from those 3 types (1600. 1866. and 2133) Thank You!

  11. Darn, I'm too late! May we share this favorite quote please? :matte-motes-smile:
  12. I've shown SL to a few friends. Few "got it" (both learning curve and reasons why I and others like it) while many others were bored and even ditested it. The people I offered it to were gamers. Many of the them found SL immideiately boring and some of their first questions after learning how to navigate and exploring for 5 minutes were "Are there any shooters?" or "Does SL have any games? I want to try something new other than flying around and looking through empty places." to which I would then show them various shooters, mazes, puzzles, etc. They see that SL is not a game, but a world to explore, chat, create, etc. Though that's not what you want to hear, it's a very true and very important aspect of SL. A few reasons I feel people drop SL are for a few reasons: The learning curve( Which, I think isn't that hard to learn if you just plan on being an Average-Joe by chating and exploring. I just wish someone told me how to wear clothes so I didn't look like a box monster.), their computer can't run it properly and don't want to purschase the hardware to, the places THEY find interesting are barren, and/or the amount the aimlessness and the freedom bore them. Those were the responses I got from my friends (The computer hardware issues and aimlessness were the most common). Just wanted to put that out there, now for your questions! :matte-motes-whistle: "Imagine you got asked to bring in a few people and make them interested in this virtual world, what would you say? Where would you teleport them" Well, it all depends on the type of person. If I know that person, I would know their interests. So that's how I would teleport them. If it's for people I don't know then I would take them to INSILICO, live performances, events, and mostly photogenic spots because who doesn't like purrty places? :matte-motes-big-grin: "what advices would you give?" Graphic card advice and preferences is a must. Someone explained all that goodness about driver updates and intergrated and descrete and it made a world's difference for me with lag. How to use the search bar and navigate through each tab. How to unbox and wear clothes. Suggest different viewers. Answers tab in the SL forums is very helpful for issues. SL is for anyone but it's not for everyone "offer spedific infos about what makes SL attractive?" Has it's own fluctuating economy Almost everything you see is made from the users I hope I helped you with your research. Good luck!
  13. I think it might be an interesting idea if LL could incorporate all the functions and keys SL requires. However, alot of people much rather use a keyboard (including me) to navigate. However, people shouldn't shoot down the idea just because of the feature of using a joystick. I would say it would be fine for just "casual" SL users (Just fly, explore, and chat via voice) but the idea is unlikely to happen. I think SL would have too much to cram into.

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3120M CPU @ 2.50GHz (2494.34 MHz) Memory: 3981 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit (Build 9200) Graphics Card Vendor: Intel Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 These are the specs of my friends current laptop and when he logs on, he describes that he can't control where he walks, his avatar does not appear(He's not a nimbus), and is basically lagging. Are his specs the cause for this?

  16. For intsance, I recently was given a prepaid debit card from Visa and since I couldn't exchange Lindens using that, it's useless for SL. How do I cancel this way of payment?

  19. In all honestly, I don't think so. Everyone's perception of "mature" is different to each individual. What you find mature, another will find childish and vice versa. The only idea that pops into my head is attending some classes where people are actually taking their time to learn something. I think that's a mature quality.

  22. I would like to rent/buy land. However, I see that a piece of land costs around $250(real USD) per month if owned by Linden Lab which I do not want to spend my money on. Is there and alternative where I can own/rent a piece of land where it can be private enough where I don't have neighbors bothering me and my friends and at most charge around $10(USD) a month? I would like to do all the custimization myself of land myself (adding trees, water, furniture, etc.). I heard of skyboxes but I'm not sure what's a fair price for them or what they really are so an explanzation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
