  1. I have a late 2013 15 inch Macbook Pro retina, using OSX Yosemite and no matter which viewer I am using (I have Alchemy, LL and Firestorm) it crashes immediately as soon as I click which file I want to upload. It does not matter if it is an image, mesh model, etc, the viewer crashes. Does anyone have any info on this? Searching only turns up results that are many years old and therefore no longer apply.
  2. You might want to make sure all your drivers are up to date, especially if you just got a new computer right out of the box.
  3. Are ten photos of sims to check out, like a spotlight. I was wondering how sims can get their exposure there?
  4. Thanks guys, I have Maya 2014 and I was using Blender at first but didn't really like the program and the UI. I've purchased basic tutorials from the guy selling them on the SL market place but to be honest for that kind of money his videos have me stuck on uv wrapping. I'll keep looking.
  5. Well my mac is a retina so the screen resolution is 2880 x 1800. It's common practice in second life photography to make the reolution as high as your computer can handle so that your images look smoother and more realistic. I'm just wondering if the issue is with Second Life or my Intel Iris Pro graphics card.
  6. I'm trying to learn Maya but it seems everyone wants to closely guard their secrets unless I want to pay money. Does anyone know free content on the web that teaches you the basics of sculpting, wrapping, etc? A quick Google search doesn't find too much that a beginner working by themselves can understand easily.
  7. Hi guys, so I just bought the late 2013 high end 15 inch macbook pro and I thought that surely, it would be able to handle SL photography. It runs SL just perfect on ultra, but when I try to take pictures, it wont take photos at a resolution higher than 4800 without just being a black or white blank when I save it. After a few photographs, it drops it's max resolution to less than 2500 pixels before becoming a black or white blank. I'll know it has done that when it suddenly takes a photo quickly instead of thinking for about 10 seconds or so. The mb count is also very low, like 23 mb versus 5,250 mb (or whatever size file). Is this an SL issue or a graphics card issue? The intel iris pro graphics card is what my computer uses when it runs SL, and that's supposed to be a high end graphics card. I'm very confused so any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. So I went back to non AMD-beta driver and it works! I guess only some of the viewers are compatible with the driver. Thanks to everyone who tried to help, I appreciate it!!

LOL you could be very right about that! I checked in preferences, I have the graphics currently set at low (on someone else's advice to try out) with nothing checked at all. I guess I could try figuring out how to get rid of the beta driver and go back to the regular one and see if that works.
  10. I connected my computer with an ethernet cable, but I'm still crashing. I'm not having any problems with speed or freezing, I'm having problems when it says "downloading clothing" at the begining, I crash. I've tried to switch locations a few times and it buys me a few extra seconds but ultimately, I crash. D:
  11. My laptop is less than two years old, has a processor equivelant of an i5, and is capable of running all viewers on High without slowing down and can run the Linden Viewer on high with shadows enabled without slowing down. It's much more than second life's reccomended specs so I'm really not sure what you're talking about. One doesn't need a high end machine to run second life.
  12. I posted this in answers but I'm posting it again since I cannot reply to the answers and my issue is not resolved: Right after I log on and usually before my avatar loads, I crash. I'm having this problem with the linden viewer, exodus viewer and Nirans viewer. However, I'm not having the problem on the Singularity viewer or Firestorm viewer. I did a clean uninstall of all the viewers and re-installed everything but to no avail. I really need to use the Linden viewer because it the only one I can use to take good pictures without my computer slowing to a crawl. My specs according to Speccy: Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 CPU AMD A8-3520M 56 °C Llano 32nm Technology RAM 6.00GB DDR3 @ 674MHz (9-9-9-24) Motherboard Hewlett-Packard 1805 (Socket FS1) 55 °C Graphics Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz) 512MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6620G (HP) 56 °C Hard Drives 596GB TOSHIBA MK6476GSX SATA Disk Device (SATA) 51 °C Optical Drives hp CDDVDW SN-208BB SATA CdRom Device VWPKPC ZO1Q34TU SCSI CdRom Device Audio IDT High Definition Audio CODEC My notifications are not capped (I had 2 notifications when I logged into firestorm), and I don't receive any error message but crash logger pops up every time to send the info to Linden Labs. I'm wondering if it could possibly be an issue with the new AMD beta driver I downloaded: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst13-8WINBetaDriver.aspx since the crash seems to happen when downloading objects right after logging in. I've also tried lowering my graphics settings all the way to low but that also has not helped. I would greatly appreciate any help as linden viewer happens to be my viewer of choice (weird, I know!)
  13. If your floor textures don't use shadows, there are sliders on the bottom of the texture section of the edit window that allow you to repeat the texture both horizontally and vertically a specific number of times. Just play with the sliders until you like how it looks. However, if your floors DO have shadows on the edges, it wont work because then you will end up with shadows where you don't want them
