  1. Alrighty, since things are getting a bit toasty in here I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. Please be aware that the Abuse Report option is there for Residents who would like to report various violations of the Terms of Service for review by the Governance Team. While we do encourage Residents to try and resolve things themselves (within reason, please no vigilantes!), this option is there for those who are encountering incidents that they feel they need further involvement from the Governance Team. The presence of a Report option/button is pretty standard across the industry and is not going anywhere. If you do not want to file an Abuse Report, then simply do not use the Report Abuse option. However, please note that the Governance Team will not be able to assist or become alerted of any issues without the presence of an Abuse Report if you do happen to encounter an instance where you need to report someone or something.

  3. Hey there! I've gone ahead and edited/hid some posts here due to naming and shaming concerns. While we continue looking into ways to better improve on the issue at hand, in the meantime if you come across any items on the Marketplace that you feel are in violation of our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or Marketplace Guidelines, please flag those items and we will review further.
  4. Hey folks, remember when I said to keep any bickering off the forums or to use the ignore button? I strongly encourage those who are engaging in that behavior to do so. Please be courteous to those trying to have a constructive conversation on the topic of this thread by not falling into arguments that do not add to the discussion, or any other issues you may have with another user personally.
  5. Alrighty, now that I've gone ahead and cleared out some not so pleasant posts from this thread I wanted to drop a quick note here. As many of you have seen me say several times before, delving into back and forth bickering, personal attacks, flaming, etc is not welcome on the forums. If you have an issue with another user on the forums you either have the option of taking it elsewhere, or using that handy dandy Ignore feature. Comments targeted towards individuals that can be construed as harassment or personal attacks, especially ones that contain racist, sexist, and other inappropriate remarks will not be tolerated here. Especially in a thread such as this about unfortunate current events in the world. You don't have to agree with each other, and you don't even have to like each other, but you do need to remain respectful and civil to others that use this forum. Thank you to those who are continuing to use this thread for it's intended purpose of discussing these this sensitive topic, and for showing support for those in need in a time where we need to be kind to our fellow hoomans on this weird little ball of dirt in space.
  6. Hey folks! I am just as surprised as you are that there are some terms that our filter is allowing to be used as keywords. Please know that we do not condone the use of racist/derogatory terms. Myself and others are currently investigating why certain words are making it through the filter, and will work towards a resolution to disallow the use of any others that we deem as derogatory. Thanks again for bringing this up!
  7. Hey y'all! The issue should now be resolved, so you may go back to enjoying less eyeball blinding pages, if that is your preference. If things are still weird you may want to try clearing your cache/cookies and trying again.

We do apologize for the Walls o Spam that y'all have been subjected to lately, but please know that we are very much aware and are/have been taking steps to handle the situation further. Unfortunately there will be times where someone may slip under the gaze of Sauron, but we work hard to make sure things are cleaned up nicely so that everyone can resume their regularly scheduled forum shenanigans. Hey MissMurderLamb, If you have any questions or concerns regarding recent disciplinary action taken against your account you may file an Abuse Appeal via a Support Case, and we will be more than happy to address those with you. Since we cannot address these types of things on the forums I'm going to go ahead and close this thread.
  16. Hey there! Unfortunately I will have to close this thread as this is not a topic that is appropriate for discussion on the forums. While I understand the frustration regarding this issue, please know that we take the security of our Residents' accounts very seriously, and in cases where we have reason to believe that accounts have been shared/transferred we must be absolutely sure we are speaking to the original account owner before considering releasing it. The last thing we want is to release an account back to someone who did not originally create the account. If you have further information that is relevant to your case, you are more than welcome to contact us again by submitting a Support Case.
  17. Hey there Nareemz, I am sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your ex, such issues are never pleasant to deal with. As folks have stated previously, if you are experiencing any abuse/harassment outside of Second Life, such as Discord, we unfortunately cannot assist or investigate those issues. We are only able to look into issues that occur on our service. If you have not done so already, we strongly encourage you to reach out to Discord or use any reporting tools they may have available for any assistance with issues that are happening on their platform. In regards to any issues that are going on within Second Life, we will investigate and will action appropriate if we are able to confirm that a violation has occurred. Please be aware that not all actions result in termination, as we try to educate first and give people an opportunity to learn from their behavior with warnings/suspensions where appropriate. We are also unable to inform Residents of the outcome of these investigations due to our Privacy Policy. I see that you have an open Abuse Report in our system that we have not gotten to yet, but rest assured we will investigate and action appropriately if necessary. As with any harassment, if you fear this may have an impact on your real life, such as threats of personal harm or putting your actual safety at risk, we encourage you to also notify your local authorities so that they can assist you in taking the appropriate steps to ensure your real life safety. The Governance User Groups are at 1pm SLT/PT (4pm ET), with the goal of it being bi-weekly, however since these meetings rely on my availability this isn't always the case depending on what shenanigans I've got going on (this month has been a bit wild!). User Group may not be ideal for everyone, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate availability for everyone. Please note that this is not a way to bypass filing Abuse Reports, those will still need to be filed in order for my team to investigate, but I am more than happy to provide guidance if needed. So just to reaffirm what has already been stated here, the only people who have any authority in regards to enforcing what is and isn't allowed in a Linden Home area are Linden Lab Employees and the Moles. Now if you're just trying to be a friendly neighbor and giving someone a gentle nudge of "Heeeyy, so I noticed you have this giant 20 foot tall Spork in your yard, you might want to remove that before a Linden finds it. Oh you don't know about the covenant? Here have a casserole and I'll show you where to find it!", then that's fine. If there are people going around acting in what appears to be some sort of official capacity "inspecting" homes and they are not a Linden or a Mole, feel free to block/mute and use any other tools available to you to prevent them from accessing your home. Please also file an AR if the behavior persists, or if you are being threatened with "action" or "fines" for "violations", and we will take a look. (Man that was a lot of quotations!" Big thanks to everyone who has already filed ARs! We are investigating and will continue to investigate similar reports of this nature.

After reviewing all of the feedback we received and looking at our internal policies and processes regarding this issue, we have made some changes that should significantly reduce the negative impact on our Merchants. While we do not expect there to be further assessments made on accounts that are not directly involved in any wrong-doing, if you are assessed and would like for it to be reviewed you are more than welcome to submit a Support case and we will take a look. We thank you all for your feedback and for your patience during this time. We understand the frustration this may have caused and will continue to work towards improving any processes that result in unnecessary negative experiences for our Residents.
