  1. Virwox - as I understand it, at least - is a website that you can buy Lindens through, as well as money for other games / virtual worlds.

    Olegistvan, your Second Life account name is Olegistvan Resident.

    If I remember correctly, you have to type your Second Life account name into the website so that your avatar is verified on the website...then you would need to take a Slurl / TP to a Virwox terminal in-world and click it so that you are fully verified. Beyond that, I do not know anything of it.

    Here is the website's FAQ page, which has the information you may need:

    https://www.virwox.com/faq.php

    And here is the website's page which has Slurls to the different terminal locations:

    https://www.virwox.com/terminals.php

    I hope this helps!

  2. Heya Ron!

    That is originally what I had done but, unfortunately, it would not work. It was only after I changed it that it would show the display name.

    Revochen - I will try that out. Thank you for your suggestion!

    LepreKhaun - I appreciate you took the time to respond, but it was unneeded. You can choose to believe me or not, but I have tried learning. Unfortunately I am not gifted when it comes to scripting or coding of any sort; even the simplest LSL is very difficult for me, though I have no doubt it is easy for you (though I hope to someday understand it, if I keep on trying). Nor was I expecting people to do my work for me -- it was just a hope that someone might be kind enough to give a bit of advice. Which Ron, Revochen, and Irihapeti were generous enough to do, and I appreciate their kindness.

    Irihapeti - Thank you! That was extremely helpful. I appreciate your response.

    Take care, all.

  3. Through a lot of Googling, dissecting freebie scripts, and trial and error, I managed to make the script below for dice:

    integer Chan=6;

    string ObjectName;

    default
    {
      state_entry()
        {
            llListen(Chan, "", NULL_KEY, "" );
        }

    // This is for the emotive channel dice roll.

        listen( integer channel, string name, key id, string message )
        {
            if (channel==Chan && id==llGetOwner())
            {
                ObjectName=llGetObjectName();
                llSetObjectName("");
                string player = llGetDisplayName(llDetectedKey(0));
                integer roll = (integer)(llFrand(100.0)+1);
                llSay(0, "/me " + "secondlife:///app/agent/" + (string) id + "/displayname rolled " + (string)roll + ", " + message);
                llSetObjectName(ObjectName);
            }
        }

    // This is for the simple click-to-roll dice.

      touch_start(integer num)
      {
         ObjectName=llGetObjectName();
         llSetObjectName("");
         string player = llGetDisplayName(llDetectedKey(0));
         integer roll = (integer)(llFrand(100.0)+1);
         llSay(0, "/me " + player + " rolled " + (string)roll);
      }
    }

    However, players in the sim would like the ability to have a number bonus added to their dice if they rank up (perhaps +5 each time they rank up? There will only be four ranks). How can this be done? Is there a way for an admin to add a bonus to someone's dice?

    Any help would be appreciated. The dice will be free, copiable and transferable (though not modifiable; I don't want anyone hacking into them to add bonuses), and anyone who helps me here will have credit given to them. Thank you for reading.

  4. Hello, my name is Dhuanolil.

    I am a Drow / dark elf with a superiority complex. I live underground in dark caves along with other narcisstic Drow. I sometimes come to the Surface to bless humans, elves, fae, and other people with my gloomy presence.

    I like to eat mushrooms and other fungi, and sometimes I drink wine with poison in it.

    I like to wear black clothing a lot because I am evil (or emo, depending on one's point of view) and bright things make me writhe in agony.

    When I am bored, I entertain myself by sitting in dark corners and plotting, or stabbing people.

    I can not stand the light; it buuuuurns!

    Drowesses (female Drow) are both terrifying and sexy. It is a shame many want to sacrifice myself and other males to our goddess.

    Nice to meet you.

    The Second Life environment seems to be a blend of 1st person and 3rd person and I'm not sure when to use one over the other in my interactions with others.

    ........

    I can see when RPing in a group that the doer and receiver of an action needs to be identified for all, but when describing actions in a one-on-one situation via IM or chat how many people use 3rd person emotes rather than 1st person?

    I always use third-person, even when it is just in one-on-one conversations. There are three reasons why I do: one is that using 'Dhuanolil' or 'the Drow' instead of 'me' 'my' or 'I' helps me feel like I am keeping my RL self extremely separate from what is happening in SL. That might sound stupid and some people will happily point that out, but what matters is what makes -me- comfortable, not what others think. The second reason is that I just think it sounds better, more like a story or a scene that plays out in my mind's eye. The third reason is probably the biggest reason of them all: I have been roleplaying in groups for so long that now it is just a habit to stay in third-person, rather than switch to first when in one-on-one emoting/interaction.

    Most of the people I know use third-person, but that is probably just because I hang out with people who like the same things that I do. I do not believe there is a way to determine if most people do it first-person or third-person.

    It just depends on what makes people the most comfortable, or what they like the best. If they like third-person emoting one-on-one, then that is what they will do...and if they like first-person emoting one-on-one, then that is what they will do.

    So I just suggest that you do what you prefer, regardless of how the other posts or how other people tell you to.

    Edited to correct a spelling error.

    I never use the links...like Griffin and Rend both said, teleporting to the store by opening up the creator's profile -- or using search -- to find the current store is best. Yes, it would require walking/cameraing around attempting to find the item, but at least it gets you to the store...which is better than nothing. :smileyvery-happy:

    Although my own rez year was 2006, I know a number of people with rez years earlier than mine.  There are also a number who were around in the early years that are still here, just in different avatars with later rez dates than there original one.

    The same is true for me. I joined in mid-2006, but I am still around...just in newer accounts. Most of the people I roleplay with originally joined SL between '06-'08 and are still around, but in younger accounts.

    edit your shape and move the hover slider a bit then save it.

    It is exactly as Drake says.

    Go into Edit Appearance, click the Body tab, and then scroll down to the bottom option...which is for Hover. Move the slider from 50 to 51 or 52...and if your feet are still in the ground, go higher than that. Then save the changes and exit Appearance.

    PPS Although I don't believe you can be bullied on the Internet.

    You do not have to believe it, but it is what happens. There are many...too many...stories of the tragic after-effects of online bullying; they prove that it does indeed happen. If it did not...many children/teenagers would still be alive.

    It is not the written word which is what causes the pain, but the maliciousness behind it. The same goes for spoken words. Whether written or spoken, if something is meant to be cruel and cause needless pain, then that is bullying; and if it is done through Internet, then it is Internet bullying.

    Perrie hit the nail on the head. Not all people are affected by cruel words, but many are...and when those words hit, they hurt. And unlike wounds of the flesh which can heal, words can linger in the mind for years...and ferment, growing worse.

    Edited to correct a spelling mistake.

  10. I actually have two main avatars I use for this account. Since I roleplay in two separate places, my characters...though the same fantasy/medieval race...are different ages, adult and child. So I will provide both.

    The first is my adult, the second the child.

    Its difficult, because the face depends so much on the skin. Thats why I would always make shapes for one skin and not one for all.

    What Syo said is true. When it comes to shapes for skins, there is no One-Size-Fits-All when it comes to faces; each skin is uniquely different when it comes to the face, so it will not fit the facial details the same way another would.

  12. I do not know what exactly you mean by a submissive male AO, BUT I do know of some AOs which seem more suited for the milder-mannered, quieter avatars. I suggest going to Tuty's and looking in their men's AO section. They have several different AOs. The ones I would think would be better-suited for a submissive guy would be Quiet Man AO, Mister Male AO, and a third I can not remember the exact name (but I think it's called Elegant Man AO). I own both the Quiet Man and Mister Male aos for my milder-mannered roleplay characters, and I am quite happy with them.

    Simple question:

    As a matter of habit do you delete the resize scripts when you are finished editing an item or do you leave them in "just in case?"

    If an item is modifiable so I can edit it / add my own resize script later, then after I edit it I delete the resize scripts.

    If an item is not modifiable, I copy it so I can have a scripted backup...then after I resize the first, I delete the resize scripts in it.

    Being Drow, I find women with grey / coal-black skin, white hair, crimson glowing eyes, skimpy leather clothing, whips and daggers, and terrifying attitudes and thirst for power extremely cute. There is nothing more attractive and adorable than a murderous Drowess who is about to beat you up simply because she is bored. :heart:

  15. If anyone logs in, do not try teleporting. It will bring you to a HUB you can not TP out of, with lots of avatars and lag.

    I tried teleporting home out of a sandbx as my alt, went straight to the HUB...tried teleporting back out of the HUB back to the same sandbox, but to no avail.

    Edited to correct spelling.

  16. I am unable to log in as this account nor as my alts, so it is not just you.

    Glad it wasn't just me, either.

    There was nothing on the Grid report when I looked either, but I just looked back and saw this:
