  1. Yeah, but we're probably looking at it from two different angles. And I have a notecard I got from the owner when I bought the av with contact information, so I was just gonna use that.
  2. Yeah I've looked into avastar and am hoping to find a free plugin. It seems a bit silly to me that you have to pay for a plugin for this sort of thing. So since ears and tail won't be imported, is there a way to export just the body from SL and import it into Blender so I can make clothes for the specific shape? I see on the market that people make clothing for specific avatars all the time, and it's starting to frustrate me that I can't get it working. Would the easiest bet be to contact the original author of the avatar and ask for a format that Blender can read natively?
  3. Hello, I was wondering if there was any way to export my avatar shape, including ears, tail and everything into Blender so that I may use it as a base to make clothes for him? I read about exporting it to .xml but surprisingly there are like, no scripts for importing .xml into Blender. Anyone got any in-depth walkthroughs? Because I'm just about at my wits' end with this. Thanks!

  5. I'm assuming that you mean becomming a DJ in Second Life? Becomming a DJ in Second Life requires you to know how to DJ in real life. EDIT: But with that being said, the first step is to DJ in real life, since in Second Life it's exactly the same thing, just with more (or less) steps involved, depending on how you look at it. If you have a turntable and/or mixer, or any external MIDI equipment, you'll have to hook that up just like you were playing a show irl, except you may want to just plug your monitors in, or headphones, whichever you prefer. You'll also need a dj program that can broadcast. I reccomend VirtualDJ, I have been using it all of my professional career as a DJ and have nothing but good things to say about it. This is where it gets a bit tricky. I've never DJ'd in SL before, but I vaguely know how it works. The venue that you're playing for should have a broadcast server that you connect to through VirtualDJ or whatever software you're using. You'll have to talk to the venue owner on how to connect to it. You'll also need a microphone to interact with the crowd with. Venue owners will be more likely to hire you again, and club goers will be more likely to tip you (or pay you directly) if you interact with them. And lastly, a decent computer. You'll be running SL, your dj'ing program, and broadcasting a stream, so your cpu will overheat and crash you if you don't have a decent system. You could also use two computers, one connected to sl and the other running the dj and stream software. Hope this helps!
  6. Wow, thank you for all the replies! I found the redgrave hairs earlier before asking, but I didn't want to buy it and then find a hair just like what I'm looking for lol
  7. Hello, I was wondering if any of you know where I might be able to find hair like this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_53BN96cmbPI/STkaGgB9J0I/AAAAAAAAALM/LmddsVfj9hA/s1600-h/ArminVanBuuren.jpg Price isn't really too uch of an issue for me. Thanks!

  9. Yeah, I'm a music producer by trade, so the whole 10% change thing is familiar to me on the remix level, but I've heard it's 30%. So it would still be bad/illegal to make, say, an Armin Van Buuren shirt and not sell it or give it away, just use it for myself, just to show my love for him and show my support?
  10. I see. So it's just a matter of "everybody's doing it" then. I figured it was still against the rules, since people are spending actual money for these types of items, I couldn't imagine that it was allowed. Thank you so much for the in-depth replies guys!
  11. Alright, I understand that LL is VERY strict about IP laws, but I have a few questions. I have seen MANY items in-world that have famous logos and the such, and mostly walkers. If you don't know what a walker is, it plays a sound loop whenever you walk, most often a popular song. I took the IP quiz and got pretty much all the information I needed, but is it really safe to assume that ALL of these items, such as dancers, walkers, and shirts are licensed? Or the owners have permission? I'll be honest, it's a little hard to believe. And since I'm starting to get into content creation, I want to know how many people actually follow the rules when it comes to IP. Cheers!
