  1. Wow! Thanks for a quick reply! ^^ So, if I understand correctly...you can set home somewhere (and I did) but ony at ONE place... I do have a plot in mind, but I'd set home there and perhaps pay the rent for someone else to live there... Mell xxx
  2. Hi all :) Owkay, so, I've set myself up and gotten me a little place of my own. I wondered if I can get a second place for me (and someone) but that is a home as well. If I choose "teleport home", the system does teleport me home, inside. What if I set an alternative home as home? There is a reason: I lock my door, and since that's done from the INside, once you're out, entering through the door is not an option...so I lock the door, and then TP to where I want to be, once done, I TP back IN the house... So, if I lock the doors...how do I get in the other home? Thanks :) Mell xxx
  3. Yes, and adorable they can be too...in the given context. Of course, I frequent the more "mature" side of the world...so child avatars are "uncomfortable" to interact with for me...of course, I hope no offence was taken... Mell xxx
  4. Hi all ^^ Not to meddle in a discussion as a young(er) member, but to be honest, I prefer NO interaction with child avatars. I dont see the point of adults posing as children in an environment that's clearly far beyond the mere "online game" like SmallWorlds or Farmville on Facebook. SL is a meeting place for MINDS, not just a mere online game... I'm not scared of child avatars, I just dont see the point of interating with them, escpecially if one is frequenting the more mature side of Second Life... My humble two cents, dont mind me Mell xxx
  5. Thank you all ^^ How reassuring...it's a great little home, and it would be most unpleasant to see someone else in there uninvited... Mell xxx
  6. Hi community ^^ A simple question. I rent a place, and have (of course) marked this as my home. I have visitors over once in a while. I did add them to my white list, of course. When they're in my home, can they set their home there too? Silly as it might seem, safe from a select few, I'd not like everyone that comes in to set their home...in mine, I pay the rent, it's MY place. Thanks Mell xxx

  8. The solution IS the furniture, just bought a lovely floral chair...that I can just sit in...without troubles... I bought a bogus cough
  9. ...thanks...this "peach" it finding her way in a new world...making frineds...and (sorry folks) sometimes bumping into stuff... ^^
  10. @ Maddy - Beyond these precautions, the best defense is to take no offense Wise words I'll take to heart...maybe I'm just seeing too much into this... @ Amitist - thanks, these tips will be tested ^^ @ Marianne Little - Edited to add: I might think you are trolling... how can an adult female with a good vocabulary not grasp what "stomp" means in this context? Methinks you sound a bit too innocent and afraid for one who visit adult places and turn on RLV. Allow me to place everything into context, I just discovered my BDSM, and to be frank, it scared me. A lot. Now, I'd like to get to grasp with this new thing in my life in a safe way, making friends that would like to guide me through this... Sorry if it seemed like trolling...but here I am: confronted with this BDSM and SL at the same time. @ Summer Tison - yep, me as a 45 year old dont know that either All in all, let's be honest all, to get an invite to "stomp" (whatever that may mean) without a least bit of prior "intro" seems somewhat too "flat"...I think all of us (ladies) should agree: will you stomp me? - could do with a bit more ... padding... ^^ As I mention in my profile: patience, please. Thanks beforehand.... However, I've been thinking, and the whole thing may be simple. He read my posts, noted my name, did a people search in-world and dug up my profile...IM was the next step ^^ Men, sooooo resourcefull...when motivated... Mell xxx
  11. hi all ^^ It's me again, Mell that needs to learn a lot :). Yesterday I had something weird, and maybe a simple solution applies, but it's stil creepy. I got IMed while I was alone with a friend INSIDE my own home. I had to (somewhat directly) fend of this creep, that wanted me to "stomp" him. Whatever that means. At one point, I found myself in some sort of dungeon, I had to turn off the RLV, relog and TP out of therere, after I relogged turning on the RLV, I was back in that dungeon. After answering "NO" to the question to animate my avatar, I could TP out of there...even with RLV on... This is creepy...can someone "see" me even when I'm in my own home? Thanks for helping out a scared girl, that locks her doors before going to bed from now on :) Mell xxx

  13. ...the solution: a bug in the sofa, go figure...oh well... Mell xxx
  14. umm, now I have been super silly...in the edit window, I set the Z value to 0 (hopling the sofa would land on the flor and I seem to have burried the thing in the rockface ...hmm Mell xxx
  15. Thank you ^^ in fact, this thing behaves very phantomy...in the edit window, thr checkbox "phantom" was checked, I unchecked it, but it did'nt help...Though the coffeetable behaves just the same, impossible to sit on that too... Inviting guests should be bizar Mell xxx
  16. O, okay, so I was being silly...
  17. @ carolinestravels This one's a good one, thanks for the tips. You've all helped me to learn to "fend off" and just focus on what SL is about: fun!!! ^^
  18. @ Orca Flotta Yes, duely noted. I do NOT want to be one of those tennants landlords really dread. I plan on renting for a couple of months and see what's what... have to get some Lindens, by the way, is it my imperession or has the value halved? Was'nt it 5000L$ for 10$? Unless I'm being silly again... Mell xxxx
  19. Hi wonderfull people ^^ So, I got me a little rental...and it's sooooo cosy. And...of course, I wanted some stuff. Today, I unboxed a sofa. But, when I restore in world, a sort of "ghost" appears that I cannot sit on. I can simply walk through it. If I hover over it, it shows a "move" hand, not the "fingerpointing hand" as always... So, how to I rez furniture? :) Thanks all! Mell xxx

  21. Owkay, let's start at the beginning...where is your store located? Am I allowed to IM you? I'd like to part-take in this exciting project... Mell xxx
  22. Ow...so, if I'm not mistaken, rsting something is a safer bet. It allows me (as Summer advides) to take my time and "look around"... If I rent a place, of course, I'll be allowed to furnish it...if the rent stops, I assume the furniture to be "packed" into my inventory... Convenient, I had to move several times before (I own a RL house now ^^) that would have made the move so much easier... Mell xxx
  23. Hi, so, where's the store located? Just what do you want sold and what's a "second-liner" (side product). Maybe a look at this first. A store has to be an experience, not just a counter and a till ^^ - what's the storyline here? Look at the Nike stores, they ooze a lifestyle, anyone with that lifestyle feels at home right away. What's your audience? Because, after all, it's an audience you need to sell your goods to, not the customers. You mayt need to figure out your target audinece first before figuring out the store... Greetzz Mell xxxx
  24. Wow, thanks to all these reactions! You're all so helpfull. I'll have to read carefully through all of this, but the point is...I'm starting to feel a bit... homeless...since I saw this lovely house in the adult hub, right at the edge looking towards the Cage... Maybe renting is an option after all. And it may even be an option to rent a patch of land ^^...good idea. Thanks all...allow me to read (and absorb) all the info you've given me, thanks for your time...you're a lovely bunch... Mell xxx
  25. Hi all ^^ So far, I'm quite at home in the new world...if you happen to meet me on my day off, I may wear a cherry blossom kimono and will be accompanied by me buddybunny Mr Fluff ^^ I saw nice house, but...it's for rent. How do I get a house of my own? Do I need to buy a patch of land? I saw some nice houses in the market place, or...do I need to design my own? How does that work out then? Do you have to pay per prim used to make the house? Or do you pay per sqiare unit you cover on the land? Questions of a home sick girl... thanks for allowing me... Mellie xxxx
