  1. I think, but unsure, there may be a FS preference settings for alt-click features. I’m not a photog, will attempt some keyboard maneuvers just to see if I can get them to work as you describe (more controlled).
  2. I have 3D mouse (3dconnextion).. I just click it’s left button... and I’m in Flycam mode, auto-level off and everything. I use it often, there are adjustments but I hadn’t changed them recently, am just going with defaults. ESC takes me back to my default Cam position. Adjustment is touchy, I use it more when creating but thought it would be handy for avi movements too. Flycam is definitely the best for leisure/shopping. Movement is not so... due to tedious adjustments to get it right. It wasn’t too expensive, I like it. Have used alt-click/drag, but that’s limited in movement range.
  3. Seems solution could be... take out wallet and dump all cash out of it!!! have you heard of ‘water-cooling’!? ?
  4. Freebie Galaxy I think... am familiar with it, sorry don’t have a quick LM to give ya, here. Try a search, it should come up. Most stuff is ‘dated’ tho, won’t be much of new mesh, etc... but plenty of fun junk!!
  5. I can say most participants in-world agree their SL experience is VR. The fact is tho there are REAL Life others that feel VR is not as SL. These others require that full headset view with hand/arm senors to interact with what makes them FEEL as actually standing there. Well... I DO NOT feel it’s true VR until it can be felt/touched... and have smells and odors (O-Gawd!). Take Dat! (Ya real world techno-geeks!!)
  6. Find in search, if not found there then it’s most likely ‘hidden’ . It may be you are Required to be invited to join. (Some have cost to join as well) just ‘wanting’ doesn’t always result in ‘getting’!
  7. Hi’s.... up front I’ll let you know that I know very little of a modeling career in SL. I have considered, and searched tho with few results. For most part, it appears to me, it’s a DIY development of you avatar And image. There are schools/academies for training, which come at a cost.... as well as all your items you’ll be modeling (read as no freebies here.. especially for GOOD stuff) That body, shapes, skins as well. Another is you’ll need to develop and grow your ‘image’ and ‘brand’ thru your profile (minimally) and on other sites such as blogs, social media, etc. in short.. all is effort and work! The Jobs will come to you if you do well for yourself. Don’t miss events to show off/strut yer stuff at events! SL15B is one you don’t want to miss, btw!! Ahh.. yes, get out and Network!!! Good Luck!!
  8. Geez.... I figured it out! It's just that I'm in a 'no brain' mode (surfin' when I should be paying attention to other thangs!) Just copy URL to notepad or save it as a browser fav.... DAH!! bumps thick head with palm!
  9. I’ve used it... For various things, mostly for sharing inworld with a friend. Have shopped MP together, a few you-tubes, etc. (this is a browser-on-a-prim) Overall it works ok... plus is sharing! Otherwise, if it’s just me... I’ll open a normal browser.
  10. I have a new system, 64 bit i7 (with embedded graphics).... That's a problem with 64bit FS as I understand now. I have it up and running tho I had to install the 32bit version (apply it's fix/patch) to get there. Seems Intel isn't providing upgraded 64bit graphics drivers. (there's a silly Hot-Key feature built into it that seems to cause problems... just a guess by the way it acts) Of course another fix would to be to get a graphics card and disable the i7's.... but will need to upgrade the power supply to be certain all will be well.
  11. We had physics on classic avatars, adjustable HUD even. All doesn’t happen with mesh body, only the realistic hand/face/etc. timez seem to have changed! ‘Magine dat, in SL!
  12. I feel all factors with performance of graphics during SL flight is primarily dependent on client cpu AND connection. So for best... a true ‘gamers’ grade cpu on a fiber connection! Anything less... you’ll need to continue to test and seek what works for you. All’s pretty much similar to dealing with high complexity, as well. I’ve given up flights, except in helicopters!
  13. I feel for you! I just went thru this on a new system. But I didn’t have trouble with user settings. The Intel ‘fix’ is only for systems with an Intel processor w/embedded graphics card. Worse now I’m stuck on my cell and can’t explain much to help you. Do you have an Intel processor? Then the user settings, did you backup prior to installing update? In general FS will create setting files, as/from defaults, if not found on initial startup. FS should start and run with defaults... only trouble is that you’ll need to go thru preferences and reset all as you like them. (When it finally starts)
  14. Can I suggest that when surfing from my cellphone (either Destination Guide or “view on map”) that I can mark a location in a “my fav” type of folder. Then LATER, when a viewer is avail and on another device I can get to that folder to then “visit”. Maybe send a LM to my inventory... Oh Gawd!! I see I can LIKE on Facebook, but I don’t keep an avi-FB account.
  15. That land will sell.. for the right price.... not much over L$500. You could try to get an adjoining 512m2, combine them to make it a 1024m2 sale. (most of those are going for L$1200 and more). I didn't look at it... and you need to 'open' a support ticket to get an abandoned lot put in auctions. If you don't win the auction because someone bids it up too high... .. than you'd have a neighbor that may be interested in yours too. There's all sorts of things you can do... just keep trying. I've bought/sold lots galore... all at a profit of 10% or more. Just had to wait a week or so, some have sold within literally hours. (Again... at the right price). Getting something... even if 50% loss... is better than abandoning it for nothing in return. Write it off as a cost for learning... and go get more more/better land.
  16. Here's a similar.... from Alli&Ali Designs Hair.... they are on MP place.
  17. The ad appears to be for the tattoo and not the hair of the models. Sorry to say! There is a 'Hair Fair' event occasionally... but it's bound to be challenging search.
  18. That'za Darn tootin'!! Ya' put dem beans in dat chill.... that's where the toot's come from SL's not BIG 'nuf fer Texas
  19. Also... SL (or Linden Labs) has an office in Boston as well. And further there's another couple in other locations. Point tho... is not ALL in CA. (then as we 'go to the Cloud'... it'll be hard to tell where we are!!
  20. When will Town Hall's landing point be opened in order to grab a seat? I've attempted to TP into venue... get message that 'do not have access'
  21. Deworah I'd just like to quickly point out.... SL is a VERY 'fluid' world. I would like to suggest that you not limit yourself to a rigged 'plan'. Just JUMP in there... buy a simple piece of mainland property.. and go to work at experimenting with it. As you develop your plan.. with lessons learned from this experience you'll be better able to manage your 'formal' project. Just a small lot can be sold at anytime... rather quickly if the price is right (I've turned over property within 24hrs.... several times). Then there's also the option to abandon it... if you so decide. If premium status... there is no tier cost (for now 1024m2) so it's only the cost of purchasing. I hate to say that land costs seems to have increased recently... but much is still available for less than L$2000 (less than US$10)
  22. Not directly an answer to this string's title, or a reference to educational activity contained within SL alone... There is a website that publishes research papers centered on virtual world aspects overall. I am unsure whether I can place a web link here in the forum... tho if anyone is interested in checking it out... do a web search to easily find it. The publication is called: Journal of Virtual World Research There are many educational interests that contribute to it and it's been operating for several years. I haven't searched the individual papers for mentions of SL, but am sure most anyone reading/contributing is familiar with the SL grid.
  23. 1st! Disclaimer!! I know VERY little of all, but.... Maybe you need to start with an avatar 'template' in Blender, I've googled some, they are out there. In general, it could be your Blender UI/Preference settings as well... there are sooo damn many to setup. Even tho! All this should be included within YouTubes.. and apparently not included. Good Luck with your continued efforts!!
  24. I have a post in another thread you may want to check out.... https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/OSX-El-Capitan-Space-Navigator-Issue/m-p/2969427#M26367 In short, I found another controller (that I use in my system) interferring with my Space Navigator in SL.. which was keeping it from working.
  25. Well.. I'm getting 'close' with having my Space Navigator tuned for SL. Still tweaking finer points, BUT installation and drivers were quite aggravating. I do have Windoze10, had it for awhile, but just swapped motherboards too. The SN driver I have now is the Win10 versions (new) from 3dconnextion's site. Overall... the problems I found was when installing (multiple times) was that new drivers attempt to install for EVERY 3d design program out there. I stopped that with using 'Custom' install and off-checked all options for EVERYTHING it seemed. The one other problem I had was interference from a Logitech flightstick that I also use on the system. Seems that SL/FS will 'pickup' the FIRST controller is finds on a USB port. It was 'catching' my flightstick first... total aggravation (because I attempted to use it for SL before buying the SN... and it didn't work then.) BUT then *Last Straw LUCKY lightning strike*... which was moving the SN to a rear USB and keeping flightstick on front USB.. SL will pickup the SN like is suppose to do. A much easier solution than attempting to tune USB ports in Bios! Settings appear to be simular to those recommended as in other posts in Wiki, As for my physical placement.. I've found SN rests nicely just in front of the keyboard arrow keys. With it sitting there, when my finger tips are on arrow keys, the ball of hand is resting lightly on the SN... giving my quick 'action' to whichever movements I want by avi. Flycam is nice, although I wanted SN primarily for movements. Am looking forward to attempting some builds with SN, it appears it is going to work out now.... after nearly POUNDING it through my wooden desktop!! .
