  1. Hey, I just bought a Motorola MG7540 and I don't think it's compatible to run Second Life. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions of a modem/router combo that works well for Second Life right out of the box? I was considering Netgear N300. But ratings look a little poor on that.
  2. I'm looking for a script that will allow you to take multiple objects that are used as "recipes" to create a different object. So essentially you rez out object A, object B, and object C onto something with the script in it. Click it and it will get rid of those objects and give you a new object "Object D"
  3. Yeah the video has exactly what I was looking for thank you. It's easier for me to learn visually so that will help out a ton. Sorry I worded it weird, I couldn't think about how to ask what I meant, but I guess you understood Thank you and everyone else who posted :3
  4. Let's say you start out with 3 different models, all individually textured. You then attach them and it becomes one model, but their materials remain in-tact. Is there a way (within 3ds max preferably) to take the new model and aquire its texture for uploading into SL? It's hard to word what I mean.

  6. Actually I just noticed. It does actually take the shape. I made a really fat avatar just to test it, and it did change how the chest looked. But no matter how long I made the arms, they always stayed the same length. I believe the legs are the same way. The program just can't recognize leg and arm length. The shape I am trying to get has really long legs and arms. So I believe SLAV is actually working, it's just the program is limited to the arm/leg length. Is Avastar the same way? Because I think that both SLAV and the Phoenix Viewer method give the same results in that area. I need something that will actually import exact shapes.
  7. Thanks for the reply. I tried making a new shape, and it didn't work. Only thing I can think of is maybe my liscensed product isn't registering. But I don't have the unliscensed error code when I go to import my shape into 3ds max, so I would assume the liscense is working. I also find it strange that everywhere says you need to get the "new_archtype" file from a folder that it automatically saves into. Whereas every time I go through the process, it lets me save it into a different folder. Although, it's convenient that it allows me to do that, I wonder if it means it's not working correctly. I don't even have a new_archtype file in any of my folders. I just get the xml file that they allow me to place in whatever folder I like. I did see an example of Avastar being used and it undoubtedly made a full custom shape, unlike the shape I'm gettnig with SLAV. But I would assume the problem is on my end, and not the actual product's end. So since they are similar products, I might just end up having the same problem with Avastar as well.
  8. I bought the liscensed version of the SLAV plugin. It's supposed to allow you to bring your custom shape into 3ds max. Well when I used it, got my XML file, (which didn't save as new_archetype, since it allowed me to choose what name I would save it as) all I was able to do was to get the default body shape with my avatar's head on it. It would not create my custom shape's legs/torso/arms. I emailed the creator, and he's yet to get back to me. I've also tried another option that I've read, which is to download an old version of Phoenix Viewer (1.5.2.1185 to be exact) and I did all the steps to obtain the OBJ files using the viewer, and I have the same issue. I am able to import my custom head shape, but the torso/legs/arms all stay the default shape. I heard about two other solutions. One being some viewer called emerald viewer, which I don't think even exists anymore. The other being a different addon called Avastar, which from what I've heard people might have been having problems with that. So I'm reluctant to waste my money on another product that might end up doing the exact same thing. Any suggestions? Is it even possible to bring your custom shape into a 3d modeling program? My purpose is to align mesh models onto my own shape to rig on custom shapes. I'm not attempting to use it for creating skin textures.
